9521873855?profile=RESIZE_400xI have written several articles on vows and feel that any discussion on vows wouldn’t be complete without addressing sexual restraint. Plus, men often ask me how to control sexual desire and I felt that to do justice to this question I would need to write an article.

I am approaching this issue mainly from the male perspective (obviously because I am a man and also because the scriptures approach it more from that perspective). Still, although men and women are wired differently and thus respond

The Glorification of the Holy Names is the Great Benediction for all the World’s Theistic People

Lord Chaitanya is not merely a prophet or messenger. We accept that He is the Supreme Lord appearing to give His great benediction upon the human society. By observation, we can understand that those of the Christian religion, those of the Islamic faith, those of the Jewish faith, and other theistic religions are rarely likely to give up their passionate faith in God according to

The Supreme Lord is said to be ‘Sachidananda Vigraha‘ in the revealed scriptures. ‘Sat‘ means eternal, ‘Chit‘ means fully cognizant and ‘Ananda‘ means joy, and ‘Vigraha‘ means specific Personality. Therefore the Lord or the Supreme Godhead who is one without a second is eternally a joyful per

13208963068?profile=RESIZE_584xIn an ideal society where individuals are God-conscious, the legal profession would be redundant. However, the inherent nature of Kali-yuga ensures that pride, envy, and hypocrisy will persist. Therefore, it's essential to address these topics, particularly among Law college students.

"Unveiling the Mask of Pride: A Journey of Self-Discovery, Humility, and Transformation.”

As human beings navigate the complexities of life, they require moral and character-driven provisions to guide them. The pa

I recently heard a woman say, “least but not last.” She meant to say the usual, “last but not least,” but somehow, due to a slip of the lip, or perhaps because of some mild form of dyslexia, she inverted the words in this somewhat humorous way. And this got me thinking about humility, which people sometimes confuse with low self-esteem, thus viewing it as an inferior quality. To think of oneself as “least” is the last thing one would want to do.

The Self at War by Yogesvara Das

The hero of India’s epic Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna, is at a crossroad. He is intelligent, well-intending, and overwhelmed by a dilemma we all might recognize: the apparent incompatibility of worldly responsibilities and other-worldly aspirations. Arjuna is a warrior who feels the call to a more peaceful, non-invasive life. On the verge of a mammoth war he refuses to fight, even though the enemy is an aggressor who must be brought down. Like Arjuna, once we acknowledge the call to a more enlightened

Forest Bathing by Shanky Kumar

I really enjoyed the Diwali festival held at Sattair Community Centre.

To get there I chose to trek there via a piece of the Trans Canada Trail which flies through the forest. I just completed a poem which will appear in my next book, “ The Walking Monk: Poems 2”.

Forest Bathing

You may enter with a dirty mind
Host in spirit, perhaps to another time
By the end of the stretch
You feel less of a wretch
In understanding that forest bath
Down a soft green path
Well, it may not be green
But a mu

From Back to Godhead

Fifty centuries ago, during a fierce war, Lord Krishna and one of His pure devotees achieved a unique intimacy…

In the midst of the great battle, surrounded by the clash of arms, the pounding of hooves, the rattle of trappings, the shouts of warriors, and the screams of wounded men and beasts, where the dust churned up by the horses dimmed the sun and blood turned the earth to mud, Krishna suddenly stopped the chariot and sprang to the ground. Raising the wheel of a disable

Obstacles to Recruiting by Kalakantha Das

Obstacles to Recruiting

During his amazing eleven years of personal worldwide preaching, Śrīla Prabhupāda proved Krishna consciousness could transform everyone into Vaishnavas, regardless of their birth. People today can still be transformed, regardless of how social externals have changed over the years. However, in many parts of the world, today’s ISKCON constituencies have changed. In this chapter we will look at three principle obstacles to local recruiting and a solution for each.

9852703867?profile=RESIZE_400xIf we are at all aware of how dependent we are on God—for the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and our very ability to eat and drink and breathe, to think and feel and will, and to walk, talk, and sense—we will feel grateful and want to reciprocate God’s kindness. We will want to do something for He (or She or They) who has done, and continues to do, so much for us.

We often take things for granted until we lose them. I use my right hand to chant on meditation beads, and one

Festival Fun by Shanky Kumar

The very endearing pastime of Krishna’s heroic deed in protecting the residents of Vrindavana is being celebrated in Burnaby, Vancouver’s suburb. I flew for a visit here. Immediately, I was slotted into a program to explain the significance of Krishna's doing so, in the most extraordinary way by raising a popular and prosperous hill called Govardhan. Indra, the god of rain, was relentless in creating a flash flood through endless rains. Krishna sited swiftly to remedy the calamity and everyone
