9916636888?profile=RESIZE_584xThe Hindus who visit our Krishna temples perceive ISKCON as an orthodox movement, appreciating the traditional temple service and how beautifully the altars are maintained. Many of our western friends might appreciate the Krishna movement differently: as a modern and relevant movement which advocates vegetarianism, honors the Earth, and offers meditation through joyous singing and dancing.

One might say Vaisnavism is the most stable and orthodox of all the Vedic traditions. Everyone knows how at

Here are some practical ideas for creating a Krishna conscious environment for kids at home, many based on Montessori principles that I have found successful in my school. They are geared toward the 2-6 age group. I would love to hear from anyone who might have more ideas for this age group or for older children.

1. Organize the physical environment so that all devotional items and activities are easily within reach for children to access independently. Have a specific place

“Nothing Is Impossible for the Omnipotent! “

How can stones float on water!? But they did…once upon a time! In treta-yuga, God appeared as a human being, and engaged some monkeys to throw stones in water. This is a popular pastime of Lord Sri Rama. But a common man doesn’t believe in such ‘stories’ calling them ‘mythology.’ Ne

From Back to Godhead

By Rasa Purusa Dasa

Why ISKCON is creating devotees of devotees. In the Srimad-Bhagavatam (9.4.63) the Supreme Personality of Godhead says the following to Durvasa Muni, who had committed an offense against Maharaja Ambarisha:

sri-bhagavan uvaca
aham bhakta-paradhino
hy asvatantra iva dvija
sadhubhir grasta-hrdayo
bhaktair bhakta-jana-priyah

“The Supreme Personality of Godhead said to the brahmana: I am completely under the control of My devotees. Indeed, I am not at a

Arati songs by composers not in our parampara

2514830028?profile=original

Q) I have a question regarding arati songs. Is it mandatory to sing only Gaura arati irrespective of the Deity we have on the altar? I have Lord Rama's Deity and while serving the Deity, I sing some particular songs which glorify Lord Rama. If there is not a single word in these songs that are not in line with Shastra, can these be sung and followed by singing of the Maha-Mantra? Though these songs do not come directly from our parampara, can't they

Tilaka: The Mark of God
By Nandlal
Anyone who wishes to acknowledge the simple truth that "I am Lord Krishna's servant" can wear tilaka, the clay mark devotees wear on the forehead and other places on their body. You may not feel you have much devotion to Krishna, but you're not prohibited from wearing tilaka, because it's a sign that you're trying to be His devotee. What's more, the qualifications for being Krishna's devotee soon develop in a person who learns the art of wearing tilaka.
