Once upon a time, seeing that her maidservant was engaged in different household duties, mother Yasoda personally took charge of churning butter. And while she churned butter, she sang the childhood pastimes of Krsna and enjoyed thinking of her son.

The end of her sari was tightly wrapped while she churned, and on account of her intense love for her son, milk automatically dripped from her breasts which moved as she labored very hard, churning with two hands. The bangles and bracelets on her

The Power of Love

Hare Krishna.1st February 2014, Gurgaon.I was talking to a senior devotee friend over phone. Prabhuji is a very level-headed and learned devotee. The trigger of our discussion was an impromptu warm hug I received from Prabhuji during my last visit to his home. After I said good-bye to him and had moved out his house walking towards the elevator, he came out of the front door and asked `Prabhuji, at least give me a hug.' I was taken aback. I am a bit of a dry and reserved person, so for the first

Today is Vasant Panchami, the first day of spring. Spring is considered to be the best of all the seasons. Different varieties of colorful flowers of various shapes and sizes swarm the earth in this season. The multicolored surrounding exudes sweet fragrance calling people to enjoy the beauty of God’s beautiful creation. The day becomes more beautiful when devotees offer gorgeous garlands prepared by these flowers to Radha and Krishna and bathe them with flower petals and colorful leaves.  The

Question: Did Lord Rama Act Immorally by Killing Vali?________________________________________Gurudeva, I would feel blessed if you answered my question, which someone asked with me:When Lord Ramacandra met Sugriva and his monkey soldiers, at first Lord Ram solved the problem of Sugriva, which was related with his brother Vali. Starve the senses to enjoy it

Our senses if untrained and uncontrolled behave like a serpent ever ready to bite us. We mostly suffer because we fail to control our senses but remain controlled by it. For e.g. if one does not control ones speech and is loudmouthed then sooner or later one will face the music. Or else, if a person always remains absorbed in satisfying ones taste buds then from morning to night one will be busy looking for palatable foodstuffs.  The problem is that the more we walk the extra mile to act as per

"Time is called kala--past, present and future. What is now present, tomorrow will be past, and what is now future, tomorrow will be present. But this past, present and future are the past, present and future of the body. We do not belong to the category of the past, present and future. We belong to the category of eternity. Therefore one should be concerned with how to attain or how to be elevated to the platform of eternity. The developed consciousness of the human being should be utilized not

"According to the Vedic teachings, anyone who does not accept the Vedic way of life, he is called atheist. Therefore, according to Vedantists, Buddhists are called atheist. Actually Buddha philosophy does not accept God, neither soul. They simply philosophize on the material elements, and they want to finish the material exis..., dismantle the material elements. Nirvana. So Caitanya Mahaprabhu has remarked that the Buddhists are honest. They frankly say that "We don't accept your Vedas." But the

Suffering from many mosquito bites, I went into the washroom where I felt I had been bitten, and foolishly killed many mosquitoes.  My conscience then told me that perhaps I had done wrong.  I went and inquired from Srila Prabhupada.

"You should not kill them.  They are poor creatures.  It is better to prevent them from biting by using a net."

"But in the washroom, how can I use a net?"

"It is better still not to kill the

Vaisnava Compassion

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

The nature of a Vaisnava is that he wants to give Krsna Consciousness to everyone. So each devotee should chant the holy name and spread the glories of the maha-mantra to everyone, and that is preaching. A Vaisnava preaches because he is concerned. A  Vaisnava , having a spiritual mission, tries to guide blind people to the path of spiritual advancement.

Learning from our glorious past

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

We are all more or less proud of our past Indian civilization, but we actually do not know the real nature of that civilization. We cannot be proud of our past material civilization, which is now a thousand times greater than in days gone by. It is said that we are passing through the age of darkness, the Kali-yuga. What is this darkness? The darkness cannot be due to backwardness in material knowledge, because we now h
