Yamuna Devi: Three Years Ago, on Janmastami, Lord Krsna’s appearance day, I received a copy of the diary Srila Prabhupada wrote aboard the steamship Jaladuta. It’s a personal account of his first journey from India to America. Though I had read excerpts in various publications, the full handwritten text revealed a richness I had barely realized before.
Often difficult to read, the cramped and sometimes blurry script describes dramatic events with life-threatening heart attacks, repeated illness

In today's world, people need to be sustained through two means: knowledge and wealth. In the Gita, Sri Krishna states that He is extremely fond of those who disseminate divine knowledge to others. We should spend our wealth on propagating the message of God and serving the needy; this is the true and proper use of wealth. Just as a person bails out water with both hands to save themselves and the boat when it begins to flood, one should give in charity with both hands as one's wealth increases.

The Radha Krishna Kanhaiya temple in Penang, Malaysia, is a major complex. There are also deities of Jagannatha, Baladeva, Subhadra and Gaura Nitai here.

The temple is itself is big but there is also a large conference hall with guest accommodation on the higher floors. In another building there is an ashrama, offices and wonderful prasadam area with commercial kitchen attached.

We visited here during the Jhulan Yatra (swing festival) of Radha and Krishna and every evening many devotees came fro

I was intending to make the trip adventurous and with a pilgrimage quality to it. “Let’s break up this usual five hour drive,” I said to James. He was quite keen for a little recreation.

Through the perfect weather, rain overnight and sun, at a moderate temperature, was ideal for our car zipping through farm and rock country. At Silver Lake, off of a branch of the Trans Canada Highway was our stop over place. The water was h

By His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
Any contact with Krishna purifies our consciousness and gradually qualifies us for eternal loving exchanges with Him.

Pradyumna Dasa, Srila Prabhupada’s Sanskrit editor, begins reading The Nectar of Devotion, Introduction:

Invoking auspiciousness: Lord Sri Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the cause of all causes, the reservoir of all rasas, or relationships, which are called neutrality, or passive adoration, servitorship,

When I was initiated in 1975, Srila Prabhupada wrote a letter to my temple president at the Bhaktivedanta Manor, asking him to make sure I followed all the rules. He wrote:

13th November, 1975

My dear Prabhavisnu das,

Please accept my blessings. I am in due receipt of your letter undated and accept upon your recommendation the following as my initiated disciples….I also accept the following as twice-born brahmanas and their threads and mantra sheets are

The first time Prabhupada arrived that I saw him was July 20, 1972.

He stayed for five days in France.

And Bhagavan had just come.

Hansadutta was still technically the GBC of France, and Harivilas was the temple president.

So we all went out to Orly Airport. There was no Charles de Gaulle, to the best of my recollection. We all went out to Orly, and it was packed.

There were up to 200 devotees, if you can believe it, because the German devotees came.

Do you remember the arrival of the German de

He had organized a similar event some years earlier, and it had been a success. With 2026 marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of ISKCON, the community decided to hold another open house this summer, offering free admission and a full day of programming to anyone who wanted to visit.

Srila Prabhupada about political leaders

Bhagavad-gita As It Is
BG Chapters 1 – 6
If a man gets some ministership in the government by worshiping a political leader, he considers that he has achieved a great boon.
BG 4.12, Purport:

The boons of the demigods are material and temporary. Both the material worlds and their inhabitants, including the demigods and their worshipers, are bubbles in the cosmic ocean. In this world, however, human society is mad after temporary things such as the material opulence of possessing land, family and
