Recently, Revd Dr. Richard Sudworth OBE, Secretary for Inter Religious Affairs to the Archbishop of Canterbury and National Inter Religious Affairs Adviser for the Church of England, paid a visit to ISKCON Bhaktivedanta Manor. On Monday 22nd January Bhaktivedanta Manor joined in the global celebration of Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya and the inauguration of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.

The Manor opened up the opportunity for thousands of pilgrims to offer flowers to the special utsav (festive) deities of Sita, Rama Laxman and Hanuman in an electric atmosphere filled with ecstatic kirtan.

The event was attended by over 30 religious organisations from Hertfordshire, who collectively represented a dozen faiths. Bhaktivedanta Manor this year celebrates its 50th anniversary — it was 50 years ago that George Harrison of the Beatles kindly donated the temple to our community.

On arrival, the Labour leader was greeted and garlanded as part of a traditional ceremony to welcome guests, and met with the Temple President, Her Grace Visakha Dasi.
