Hare Krishna community delivers free meals to health care workers and other hungry people around Gainesville.

Krishna Lunch has been a staple at the University of Florida (UF) for nearly 40 years but, like many things, coronavirus brought the daily campus tradition to a swift halt. Now, the meals are being distributed to other hungry folk.

Since March 30, Gainesville’s Krishna House has provided over 4,000 free meals to health care workers through their “Health

How the Farmer Left the Field

Five workhorses stood in the field, in contrast with the yellow hills behind them. They took their languid stance; the farmer had no more to do with them. If the farmer went near the fence at any time, they became alert. He knew he would surrender his attention to them, so he kept a distance. Horses have keen sight, sense of smell and hearing, and are sometimes horribly startled, so they were not always to his liking. When they were young he

In the UK, the Hare Krishna Festival team has stayed at home and stopped all their outreach activities since March 23rd due to COVID-19, a hard time for devotees used to distributing the Holy Name.

From June 1st, however, the UK government has begun to ease restrictions slightly. Up to six people are now allowed to gather in public or private outdoor spaces without wearing masks, as long as they remain two meters (six feet) apart.

The allowances have spurred the Hare K

5657046891?profile=RESIZE_584xIn difficult times like these, I feel the urgent need for Srila Prabhupada’s books to be distributed in large numbers, for only such literature can enlighten people how to proceed in the right way.

Srila Prabhupada’s preface to Srimad-Bhagavatam is profoundly relevant:

“We must know the present need of human society. And what is that need? Human society is no longer bounded by geographical limits to particular countries or communities . . ., and the world tendency is toward one state or one huma

As I sent a pic of Vishnu, who my friend, Tom, happens to love, he sent me an article he thought I would like. First came his brief letter, and then the article “Economy and Cyclist.”

Hi Maharaj (that’s me),
All glories to Vishnu!
Just thought you might find this little article on cyclists and walkers interesting. Hope everything is going well at the temple.
Sincerely,
(Uncle) Tom

Prajapati Dasa Passes Away

Obituary

By Nityananda Chandra Das

Prajapati Dasa (in the middle, in plaid chadar) on a morning walk with Srila Prabupada.

Prajapati Dasa, a disciple of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada  has lived at the ISKCON Dallas, Texas, USA, temple for more than two decades. During this time he established very loving relationships with college professors, often giving tours to groups of students with a baritone voice and animated expressions. Everyone relished his theatric like performances.

5546742890?profile=RESIZE_584xWHAT MOOD SHOULD WE OBSERVE THIS FESTIVAL?

I think our mood should be one of service. We should want to satisfy Lord Nityananda. We want to help great devotes like Das Raghunatha. Try to engage in the service of the supreme Lord and his devotees we are trying to be the dasanu anu das.

HOW TO OBESERVE THIS FESTIVAL AT HOME DURING THE LOCKDOWN?

Mix flat rice and yogurt and offer that to deities of Nitai Gaura or to the photos and take the prasadam. It’s not a fast day, this is a feast day. Lord Ni

Before the world began grappling with the Coronavirus pandemic, many of us yearned for some respite from our hectic corporate schedules. Although the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown did bring us the much needed respite, most of us had begun to become tormented by another evil: boredom. Some took to the kitchen, some took to entertaining the world with their creative arts, and yet many others, especially today's jet age transcendentalists, took to diving deeper into their convictions about K

Have Someone by Bhaktimarga Swami

5547905472?profile=RESIZE_400xAfter three zoom classes for the day, I was ready for a much needed time outdoors.  I chose, as my route, Yonge Street,  a place up for change, with towering condominiums popping up along the way—perhaps it’s a way of ‘cleaning up’ some of the unwanted elements.  Unfortunately, for about two kilometres along Yonge, from Bloor to Dundas, there is a presence of an unhealthy crop of people, often not always due to their own fault—the homeless, the drug users and other unstable types.  The building

5547091056?profile=RESIZE_400xI heard Srila Prabhupada’s talk on Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.7.34–35 (September 28, 1976, Vrindavan), and in the wake of George Floyd’s recent death, caused by the police, and the subsequent riots, the following excerpt seemed especially relevant and poignant:

“Kshatriya . . . Kshat means injury. And trayate, to deliver. Kshatriya’s duty is to save the citizens from being injured by others. That is kshatriya. Even an animal. Just like Kali was trying to kill a cow. Maharaja Pariksit was on his tour, a

Many devotee parents are often wondering how to meaningfully engage their home-bound children in devotional activities, which is especially relevant during the weeks of school closures. A great remedy could be a book series by Aruddha Dasi, entitled as Srimad Bhagavatam: A Comprehensive Guide for Young Readers.

About the Author

Aruddha dasi, a dedicated disciple of Gopal Krishna Goswami, is well known within the entire ISKCON community as the homeschooling pioneer,

In the history of the world, no one has been successful in conquering these miseries imposed by material nature. Prakrteh kriyamanani gunaih karmani sarvasah. Nature (prakrti) is so strong that no one can overcome her stringent laws. So-called scientists, philosophers, religionists and politicians should therefore conclude that they cannot offer

Recently another responsibility has landed on my lap.  Canada’s territory has been expanded to include Alaska, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming; all of this for nurturing the mission.  Leaders of ISKCON, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, have now recognized this as one zone, and, in the context of the continent (minus Mexico), this zone is called the North Zone.  This additional chunk of land, snow and people (with an altogether fairly low population)
