Scripture: The Basis of Everything!

Scripture: The Basis of Everything!"Prabhupada said that just like a lawyer will go to the court and present before the judge the laws and the legal precedence. They can't go to the judge and just say "Well, my dear lord, your honor, you know I think that this person should be set free regardless of what the law says because he is a nice guy, even though he is a serial killer." Nobody is going to listen to such sentimental statements.Everything has to be backed up by legal references, evidences

Jayadvaita SwamiWe have two kinds of needs, material and spiritual. I can't deny that I have basic material needs, like eating for example. 'Well I'm spiritually realised I don't eat anymore', um...No, you need eating, sleeping. Can't really do without it. Mating. Another basic human need. And defending, we need to defend ourselves from time to time. We need to have some security. The animals do these things: they sleep, they mate, they defend. Humans beings do these things, and they're necessar

The Shield of the Holy Name

I was reading Radha-Damodara Vilasa by Vaiyasaki Prabhu last night and came across this wonderful recollection of Vishnujana Maharaj that mother Manmohini shares:"If you don't chant your sixteen rounds, it's like you've left the door open to your place. So when it's your turn for Maya to attack, when it's your turn to get bombarded by the modes of material nature, if you haven't closed your door properly, Maya will just walk right in and you'll be finished. And if you do chant your sixteen round

“I know better than Srila Prabhupada”

Sravanam (hearing) is the first of the nine items of bhakti. Kirtanam(chanting) is the second. These two processes go hand in hand. One chants, one hears, both are rendering devotional service and thus adding capital to their spiritual bank account. In regards to hearing my Guru Maharaj often quotes the saying that goes, “God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason.” Meaning we should be at least twice as eager to hear than to speak. Of course this must be understood in the proper context.
