Lecture given by HH Tamal Krishna Goswami on 11th July 1991 in Dallas.

Today is the disappearance of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and Srila Gadadhara Pandit. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura worshipped the deities of Gaura Gadadhara and chose to leave this world on the same day as his worshippable deity Gadadhara Pandit also left.

We cannot calculate the debt which we owe to Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura Practically this Krishna consciousness movement is based upon his design because it is he who revived

In the quiet corridors of a hospital, where the air is often thick with anxiety and the weight of finality, a profound lesson in love and spiritual protection recently unfolded. Bhakta Prabhu, a Hare Krishna chaplain, shared a moving account of a family’s journey through the “palliative care” of the soul, illustrating that the greatest joy in life is helping another soul turn toward the Divine.

The Call to Service
The story began with a phone call from Werribee Hospital. A woman, traveling all t

Bhakti Studio Seattle by Ramai Swami

31194799281?profile=RESIZE_400xDevotees from the Seattle community, over the last few years, have leased a downtown facility to host programs for those interested in genuine spiritual advancement. It is called the Bhakti Studio and many come to chant, dance, discuss and partake of delicious prasadam.

In the summertime, when the weather is nice, everyone goes out to a nearby park that overlooks the beautiful Seattle harbour. There they have their normal program of chanting and dancing but outdoors instead of inside.

I was invi

Look up at a gorgeous sky

Something for a curious eye

It’s so clear, so clean

Expansive and not lean

There’s nothing larger than this space

Holding countless entities in place

Planets, luminaries, each star

Galaxies suspended from so far

There’s no greater envelope

I think not – nope

When evil preys on the mind

A view of the sky makes one unwind

It’s comparable to a stream

It purges, it’s so pristine

Let’s continue to wonder

What about that awesome colour

At nig

I was distributing books in Sunnyvale, California, when a couple of young
men stopped at my table. I showed them the books I had: Bhagavad Gita,
Science of Self Realization, The 4 Questions, and Hiding in Unnatural
Happiness. One of them said, “We don’t believe in God.”

“Well,” I challenged them, “you can’t say there is no God, because you
don’t know.”

They agreed.

Then I presented the wager of the famous 17th century religious philosopher
Blaise Pascal. who framed belief in God as a bet. There

31193561078?profile=RESIZE_584xA day after arriving to Seattle I was invited by Vraja Raman and his family to attend the seventh anniversary of the installation of his deities, Sri Sri Nitai Nimai Chandra, in his home.

When Their Lordships first arrived a lot of devotees attended, including HH Gopala Krishna Maharaja and HG Hari Vilasa Prabhu. I was told there were nearly three hundred who came for the function.

This time there were not as many but a good number came and both Hari Vilasa and I spoke followed by beautiful bhaj

31193547488?profile=RESIZE_584xIn Jagannatha Puri, India, the Ratha Yatra, or Chariot Fest, is celebrated with three massive carts in procession at a distance of three kilometres or two miles down Grand Road. Today, in St. John's, our humble cart was pulled for over six kilometres. That's the longest I've ever experienced. Those who did the entire length are indeed stalwarts. We stuck to the sidewalks and the most beautiful thing is that the sun stuck with us the whole time.

Responses from the public was good. Many motoris

THE VEDAS DESCRIBE the cow as our mother (go-mata). Why? Because she gives the milk that nurtures and nourishes us from infancy to old age. When the cow is happy, satisfied, and well taken care of, she produces far more milk than her calf requires. We can use this milk for our dietary needs.

Srila Prabhupada writes, “Foods such as milk, milk products, sugar, rice, wheat, fruits, and vegetables are the foods that best aid health and increase life’s duration.” He calls milk “the most wonderful o

We waited. And waited. It was a sweltering summer day in the Florida panhandle. The morning sun glared through the expansive windows of an airport departure gate. There, a young blond haired lady, neatly uniformed with a blue vest over a pressed white shirt and matching blue pants, stepped up to the counter, timidly surveyed the room, then announced a one hour delay. Passengers sighed, edgy to escape from the heat and travel north. With cellular phones pressed to their ears, they persistently g

On The Rock by Bhaktimarga Swami

31191472680?profile=RESIZE_400xWe found ourselves in Newfoundland, which many people refer to as "The Rock.” Amala Harinam from Montreal, and I flew to this location, a massive island. My friend Jan, took us to the rock upon the rock, at Signal Hill where the first wireless message, telegram, was successfully transmitted by inventor Marconi, on a trans-Atlantic venture in 1901. With the sun gloriously on our frames we met the friendly people of this province and even a couple that just got married. The “Newfies,” as they are

When it comes to the sensitive topic of Varnashrama, or what many people call the caste system of India, we have seen so many talks over this issue, both pro and con, back and forth, this way and that. We all know that the Vedic system of Varnashrama has been mentioned in the Vedic literature in many places. But it seems that many people still don’t understand how it was meant to be implemented. It is not because of Varnashrama, but because of this misunderstanding of what it really is that has
