8509263078?profile=RESIZE_400xThree hundred years before the appearance of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Shri Jayadeva Goswami served as the court pandita of Shri Lakshmana Sena, King of Bengal. Jayadeva and Padmavati (his wife and an expert dancer) used to worship Lord Shri Krishna with single-minded devotion. After some time, he left the opulent royal life to live peacefully in a grass hut in Champahatti, Navadwipa. Here Jayadeva wrote Gita Govinda.

Life and Afterlife: Does Modern Science Have it Right?

By Navina Syama Dasa

The intellectual community fails to even consider the validity of evidence of reincarnation.

I recently read one of the latest books by Ian Stevenson, entitled European Cases of the Reincarnation Type. Dr. Stevenson is a research professor of psychiatry at the University of Virginia, and he has been doing research on the subject of reincarnation for more than thirty years. Over this period, he has accumulated several hu

13416394098?profile=RESIZE_584xA poem by Shantipriya to The Walking Monk:

3 DAYS OF THE WALKING MONK

O’er Suriname’s green and sunlit land

A monk walks softly, staff in hand

Bhaktimarga Swami, with steps so true

Guided hearts to a higher view

Three days he stayed, a fleeting grace

His spirit brightened every space

With every mile, each stride so pure

He taught of paths that can endure

Through city streets and forest trails

We shared our stories, songs, and tales

The World is Quiet ? by Bhaktimarga Swami

Thoughts of the wildfire in Los Angeles are reeling in my mind as I walk the dark early hours.  My mantras are prayers of concern and help for the many victims.  It is a very troubled world.

Meanwhile, the world is quiet here on Kwatta Street going westbound.  The occasional car comes by.  There is no honking or any agitation from motorists who are viewing the four of us in dhotis on a narrow two-lane in single file.  Dogs barking is occasional.  Once the sun hints at rising, we see Indian co

13410051653?profile=RESIZE_584xOver 500 years ago, in the sacred land of Navadvipa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna, appeared as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Taking on the golden hue of Srimati Radharani, He descended to distribute the yuga-dharma of sankirtan—congregational chanting of the holy names. His life exemplified devotion, compassion, and the unifying power of kirtan, transforming the hearts of countless souls and ushering in a golden age of Krishna bhakti.

This year, as we prepare for the grand festival

My husband joined the movement in Cardiff at the beginning of 1970. Kulashekar Das had started a temple there. Suriname Steps by Bhaktimarga Swami

13409805867?profile=RESIZE_584xAt 1:30 AM when the plane landed, I was in ecstasy.  In heightened anticipation I thought to myself, Within minutes I’m on the Kwatta Road where I’ll be taking my second leg of my Suriname cross country walk!

Things were looking good.  The weather was at 23º Celsius.  I was the second in queue for the visitors’ lane at customs.  I handed my documents.

“Where is your entry visa?”

“I only have what is there.  I was not told.”

“They gave you a boarding pass without a visa?”

Lord Ram constructed a bridge to Lanka across the Ocean. Lord Ramchandra does not require a bridge to cross over the ocean, he is God, but in order to glorify his followers, good devotees like Hanuman and others including the little squirrel, Lord Ramchandra constructed a bridge to Lanka across the Ocean. Lord Ram gave them a chance, they simply chanted ‘Jai Shri Rama’ and threw stones into the water and the stones started floating, such is the potential of the holy name.
