Krishna’s Flute
There are three kinds of flutes used by Krsna.
One is called venu,
one is called murali,
and the third is called vamsi.
Venu is very small, not more than six inches long, with six holes for whistling.
Murali is about eighteen inches long with a hole at the end and four holes on the body of the flute. This kind of flute produces a very enchanting sound.
The vamsi flute is about fifteen inches long, with nine holes on its body.
Krsna used to play on these three flutes occasionally when the
but against God and indeed life itself. Human life is a gift from God for us
to achieve life’s perfection and go back to him. No one has the right to
maliciously destroy that gift, especially in God’s name.
But in truth life itself cannot be destroyed. We are eternal spiritual souls
inhabiting material temporary bodies. We are not destroyed when the body is
killed. The Bhagavad-gita says, "For the soul there is neither birth

The Reunion
1. When the gopis saw that their dearmost Krsna had returned to them, they all stood up at once, and out of their affection for Him their eyes bloomed wide. It was as if the air of life had reentered their bodies.
2. One gopi joyfully took Krsna’s hand between her folded palms, and another placed His arm, anointed with sandalwood paste, on her shoulder.
3. A slender gopi respectfully took in her joined hands the betel nut

Battle with identity
and independence
As a senior secondary teacher of a public school, I realized that the biggest conflict that the adolescents of modern era face today is of “identity crises”. A lot of these adolescents are rejecting their culture as old fashioned ideas and would rather adapt to the ways of the west.
These young adults living in ignorance are mostly misbehaved. The reasons being they go to bed late, awake late, watch violent and sexual movies and are surrounded by lust and fig

Taken from the book "The butter thief"
One day a gopi told Mother Yasoda, “Today, I caught your son Krishna red-handed, with His hand right in a pot of
butter. I asked Him, ‘Why have you come here? Did You come to steal butter?’ “‘No, no mother! I was searching for My calf. I was playing with him today, and he ran away. So I followed him, but he jumped into this pot.’
“‘Oh, your calf has jumped in this pot, has he?’ “‘Yes, Mother’, Your son replied very innocently, and when He pulle
I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated January 1, 1973, and I am very glad to hear from you the wonderful news of travelling party inEngland. I think the people of that place are becoming more and more
inclined for this Krishna Consciousness movement, they are inviting you to stay at their houses, they are taking books, becoming sometimes devotees -- all of these are very encouraging signs to me. If you simply go on in this way, stopping in every village and city of England-Scotland, o
Once, Yasoda-maiya and child Krsna came to the house of Abhinandana, Yasoda-maiya's elder brother-in-law. After dinner, Yasoda-maiya sat on the bed lulling Krsna to sleep in her lap. "Maiya, please tell a story," Krsna said. Yasoda proceeded to narrate a story as Krsna nodded and murmurred, "Yes, yes."
Yasoda said," Once there was a king named Dasaratha. He had four sons- Rama, Laksmana, Bharata and Satrughna. Rama married Janaki, the dau

With the devotees from the San Diego temple I was distributing books at a table at Mesa College recently when a person who was apparently a rabbi came over and began looking at the pictures I had on display --
the famous picture of the man with a cow's head about to slaughter a cow with a man's head, along with a reincarnation picture and a meditation picture. As he studied the pictures I thought, "What's going to come
of this? Is he going to tell me how far I am from the truth and make a scene, o
The Gopis’ songs of separation
1. The gopis said: O beloved, Your birth in the land of Vraja has made it exceedingly glorious, and thus Indira, the goddess of fortune, always resides here. It is only for Your sake that we, Your devoted servants, maintain our lives. We have been searching everywhere for You, so please show Yourself to us.
2. O Lord of love, in beauty Your glance excels the whorl of the finest, most perfectly formed l
Caranamrta is obtained in the morning while the Lord is being washed before dressing. Scented with perfumes and flowers, the water comes gliding down through His lotus feet and is collected and mixed with yogurt. In this way this caranamrta not only becomes very tastefully flavored, but also has tremendous spiritual value. As described in Padma Purana, even a person who has never been able to give in charity, who has never been able to perform a great sacrifice, who has never been able
I want to share two stories about two dearest people in my life.
My first story is about my late mother who, although not a devotee herself, was very fond of Srila Prabhupada. Once she went to see a friend of hers, a lady who happened to be one of the top authorities on literature and linguistics in the country. That lady was also known for her mystic ability to predict future. Almost all of her predictions came true, I have personally experienced it in my life.
So when my mother went t
