Sunyavad (God Is Never Zero)

We have some money to spend, and the next day our account becomes zero. Rascals say that ultimate truth is zero, sunyavada. They do not know that God is never zero -- that He is always positive. So we must have a clear idea of God. Theologians should take these ideas from Vedic descriptions and not be misled by fools and rascals. God and His full energies are explained in the Vedic literatures. Our energy is lost, but God's is not. That is the difference between God and us. I cannot walk swiftly

NEVER BLASPHEME OR CRITICISE A DEVOTEE

Due to lack of knowledge people call devotees fanatic and blaspheme or criticize them. One who criticizes the devotee directly comes under the wrath of Lord. There are so many stories in our scriptures about this. I would like to narrate a small incident.

This incident took place in Bahrain . One of my Christian friend whose husband is a great devotee of Lord Krishna has been chanting the holy name of the Lord for the last 20 years. Life of big bu

Our Real Identity, Our Real Motivation

by Stephen Knapp

The second chapter of the Bhagavad-gita explains how we are not these bodies, but our true identity is that we are spiritual beings that exist in these temporary material forms, like a driver in a car. The soul cannot be burned, dried, withered, or harmed in any way. It is eternal. The soul does not die when the body dies, and only wears the body like an ephemeral suite of clothes. It is also full of bliss and knowledge, and we naturally feel

Godruma's massage

For Prabhupada's massage Harikesa enlisted the help of Godruma dasa, a tall, fair-haired, 25-year-old American, who has recently arrived in India and is serving here in Hyderabad. Godruma has been stationed as a guard at Srila Prabhupada's door during the day. Later I heard from them how the session went.

Prabhupada was already sitting in his gamcha on his mat when Godruma walked in. After asking him his name, Prabhupada signalled for him to begin. Godruma, a soft-spoken, "gentle

Prabhupada's books are time bombs

Prabhupada's books are time bombs

It was hot summer day in May 2003. I was preparing for medical entrance exam and was completely exhausted by the long hours I had put. Add to it the tremendous anxiety about carrier and future. I desperately wanted to read some inspiring book, which would give me some peace of mind. I started searching books on the shelf. In the corner was Bhagavad-gita As It Is. It had been kept on my book shelf for nearly ten years.

I opened it and began to read. I realized that

Humility captures Krishna's heart.

A true saint doesn’t flatter his followers with platitudes. While he exudes
warmth and affection, he also speaks the harsh truth of life, some of which
may be unpalatable for the ego. The ego fears that commitment to a spiritual
path may restrict our freedom.

A room that isn’t cleaned for years may be dirty, and an attempt to clean
the room only raises more dirt. However, if the cleaner persists, the room
will become attractive for a person to stay. Similarly, a genuine well

Western Philosophy's Approach

Western Philosophy's Approach

Western philosophy has relied on individual speculation, which involves taking evidence from our senses and evaluating it with our minds. But this method leaves us with a great deal of uncertainty. After all, our senses are imperfect, and our minds are subject to illusion, mistakes, and the propensity to cheat, to pretend we know something when we really don't. With all these variables, each philosopher tends to come to a different set of answers to the fundamental q

Hare Krishna Friends,

Three people were laying bricks. A passerby asked them what they were doing. The first one replied, "Don't you see I am making a living?" The second one said, "Don't you see I am laying bricks and making a wall?" The third one said, "I am building a beautiful monument."

Here were three people doing the same thing who had totally different perspectives on what they were doing. They had three very different attitudes about their work. And would their attitude affect their perf

Remembering Srila Prabhupada - Massage

Massage

By midday I had a fever and extreme weakness. Somehow though, I still thought I could massage Srila Prabhupada. I went in as usual and, after offering my obeisances, knelt before him and began to massage his head with sandalwood oil. With each movement of my arms and hands I felt my strength drain away. I barely made it through the fifteen-minute stint.

Then I moved around to do his back. Sitting down crossed-legged I put my hands up on his shoulders -- and just hung there, in total exhaus

MICROWAVE OVEN

Below is a science fair project presented by girl. In it she took filtered water and divided it into two parts. The first part she heated to boiling in a pan on the stove, and the second part she heated to boiling in a microwave. Then after cooling she used the water to water two identical plants to see if there would be any difference in the growth between the normal boiled water and the water boiled in a microwave. She was thinking that the structure or energy of the water may be compromised b

CAUGHT RED-HANDED

CAUGHT RED-HANDED
Taken from the book "The butter thief"

One day, Yasoda’s gopi friend told her a story about Krishna’s mischievous activities. “Early this morning, Krishna came to my house to steal butter. When He got there, He saw that everything had been stored very carefully, and there was no butter lying about for Him to steal. My little baby son was asleep, but Krishna pinched him so much that he woke up, and began to cry. If we don’t keep butter in our houses for Him to steal, then He will

Deluxe edition of animal life

Describing the modern population as a "deluxe edition" of animal life because they only know how to eat, sleep, mate and defend, Prabhupada appealed to the men to take their membership seriously. "They do not know what is the aim of life. So as you are life member, you should study our, this philosophy."

Mahamsa assured him that the life members were being given his books.

Prabhupada said, "Preach this, and save this human society. That is the duty. Human life is meant

Lesser the happier

Mahamsa Swami took Srila Prabhupada out to the Public Gardens, a popular place for many Hyderabad residents to take their early morning walks. Accompanied by a small group of devotees -- Vasughosa, Matunga, Murti dasa's young teenage son, and some friends of the temple -- Prabhupada took an easy stroll around the pleasant gardens, admiring the bottle palms, several varieties of mango trees, ornamental chatries and lamp posts and the cleanly swept walkways.

Mahamsa spotted a gove
