When, where and how did you come into contact with the Hare Krishna Movement?
Always had an appreciation for Indian Music and Culture. Going into a Govinda's restaurant Fortitude Valley. Invited to a festival of Chariots in Brisbane. Attended and enjoyed it. First ever ISKCON gathering. Researched on internet to learn more. No temple near me (Sunshine Coast). Contacted Brisbane Temple and they referred me to this website and invited to send me newsletters via email kindly. Very helpful. Also have been reading Bhagavad Gita As It Is (1972) and have been listening to Chant and Be Happy by George Harrison and the London Radha Krishna Temple and also Krishna Consciousness album by AC Bhaktivedanta Swami.
Name the nearest or most frequently Visited ISKCON temple/ centre and name few of the devotees whom you know.
I don't have a temple near me but the closest would have to be the Brisbane Temple at 17 Mile Rocks. I know attend when I can the Sunday Feast at Govinda's Brisbane called : Sacred Sound Sessions.
Please describe yourself so that other like minded devotees can find you.
Very much a Neophyte. Learning the benefits of mantra meditation. No Temple near where I live so mostly learning on my own. Started to attend the Sunday Feast in my nearest capital city when I can also. Love it. Reading Bhagavad Gita As It Is and have also read many of the smaller books. I find spirituality in music. That may be what drew me to the Movement.
What are your expectations from this community?
To learn more. To further awaken Krsna Consciousness and ask questions in the Desire Tree community.
Describe any specific service you would love to offer to Lord Krishna & His devotees?
I honestly don't know. I have a respect for other religions and have learnt alot about other beliefs. I hope with this small knowledge I can help to dispel ignorance and encourage others to find out there is but one God.
