Why can't a Vegetarian diet include eggs?

Heh guys

Very new to the whole movement and learning every day. Forgive my ignorance but why can't you guys eat eggs?

I have been slowly converting to vegetarianism the more I read and understand but still have much to learn. I understand to an extent about Karma from eating animals but just wondering why the same applies from eggs? I am sure it is a simple answer but my understanding is limited.

    Hi guys

    I would like to happily share with you all that after doing some study and from the help of you fellow devotees I have decided to not eat eggs any more and have become a full vegetarian. Thank you for helping this humble beginner.

    I feel very happy about this choice.

    eggs, whether fertilized or not, are impure & have -ve effect on conciousness

    definately eggs have soul. as only if u incubate it at certain temperature for a time period it could also be hatched.

    Without life there would not be any life generating products. eggs give u energy right it means it has some energy. every cell is live and active and energetic so only it can give u energy when u consume it, have a look at the vids@ Paul Ling.

    Egg itself is flowing out of the uterus as a menstrual byproduct. I donno how can u eat something like that.

    when fertilized it become a chick. when not fertilized just likes human beings it flows out of the body of female like a menstrual flow. Does it appeal you? would you still like to eat it?

    Thank you kindly for your reply.

    What I don't understand is if the egg is not fertilized I would think therefore it would not have a soul.

    If a hen laid an unfertilized egg, there would be no chicken hatching from the egg, and it would eventually just return to he earth.

    Please forgive my limited understanding. I ask this with all due respect :)

    I did not understand very clearly how new you were to Krsna consciousness. 

    Just to simplify - Eggs are impure. Practice of Krsna consciousness is process of making ourselves pure. Hence eating eggs has opposite effect. Which is why eggs are not to be eaten.

      Thanks for the reply Bharat.

      When i say new I mean haven't even been to a temple new. (I have none near my way). I have been to a Festival of Chariots and I am pretty much doing all the study on my own. 

      I have read Chant and Be Happy and now taking on the the journey of reading Bhagavad Gita As It Is.

        It is very good to see you taking interest in studying BG As it is. 

        But since you are new to Krsna consciousness, it would be helpful if you read smaller book written by Srila Prabhupada before reading BG As it is. The smaller books give the message of BG in a much simpler, more direct way. The advantage is that you will find them easier to understand and you will almost no difficulty in grasping the message. 

        Be assured the content is the same but with fewer details.

        Kindly proceed slowly no need to hurry. By slowly our absorption and retention will be better. This way the knowledge will sink deep.
