Thought Of The Day

We just wanted to point out the forgiving nature of the Lord and His devotees. We devotees also in our dealings with each other should be very forgiving and magnanimous. Krishna forgave Brahma and Indra. Yudhishthira forgave Dhritarashtra. Some may say that we are not so magnanimous. You may not be that magnanimous but by attempting to follow the magnanimous you can also become magnanimous. (Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.13.28), 10.06.03, Nizhny Novgorod

Material nature is not at all beautiful, for it is an "imitation peacock."
The real peacock is a different thing, and one must have the sense to
understand this. Those who are mad after capturing and enjoying the
imitation peacock, as well as those who have a pessimistic view of the
imitation peacock but lack any positive information of the real peacock --
both are illusioned by the modes of material nature. Those who are after the
imitation peacock are the fruitive workers, and those who simply conde

Temple transformation

In the afternoon, Srila Prabhupada returned to Sydney to stay for a few more days before his onward flight to New Zealand.

Touching down at Sydney's Kingsford-Smith airport, Prabhupada and his entourage quickly crossed the tarmac. A group of devotees received Prabhupada respectfully at the terminal door, and soon he was en route to the temple. Since Mohanananda's phone call a few days before, the Sydney devotees had been immersed in a blissful fever of transcendental temple r

Glories of Mahamantra

The Glories of the Holy Names (Hare Krishna Mantra)

• Krishna and His name are non-different (Namo namino abhinatwa)

• The Lord's name has descended from Goloka (Goloker premadhana harinaam sankitan)

• Invested with the Lord's spiritual potency

• Purifies the heart and mind

• The chanting process is simple, sublime, and all-auspicious; even a child can take part

• Frees one from sinful reaction and material bondage;

• Chanting "Rama" gives the same result as chanting the 1000 names of Vishnu

It Is A Very Shameful Act...

2514834620?profile=original

The opportunity to engage in sense gratification is also available in the hellish planets. Hence to engage in sense gratification in the human form of life especially when one has begun the process of devotional service, especially after one has been initiated into the process of Krishna Consciousness, is a very shameful act.

Pearls of Devotion

2514834615?profile=original

One by one, the Vaishnavas of yore have departed from this world, thereby indicating to us to be more attentive in our search for our ultimate goal of life (paramartha). Our lifespan is extremely limited and yet, in spite of having the opportunity, facility, and knowledge of the path to Sri Krishna's Holy Feet, we are not endeavoring to fully immerse ourselves in bhajana. Under the impressions of many, many past lives we have forgotten our own identity. Instead, this body and all that is relate

Your daughter will deliver you

Dipak was not alone in experiencing first-hand Srila Prabhupada's courteous gratitude for his disciples' humble service. Once, Srila Prabhupada had asked Nanda Kumara to go see who was singing in the temple, and his servant told him it was Krsna Premi.

"She sings very nicely," he had said with a smile.

Jagattarini also noted how Prabhupada was always thankful for even the simplest of offerings. When she had polished and re-strung Srila Prabhupada's heavy brass karatal

work-life-balance.jpgby H.H. Bir Govind Maharaj at 4th May 2007

I mentioned that I would write about living longer in the present body. In order to understand this topic one has to understand the larger topic of how the material energy affects the bodies and minds of devotees, whether or not they are aware of it, or even in denial of it.

If we had the siddhis that yogis have, such as laghima, becoming light enough to float on a sunbeam, or mahima, becoming very big or heavy—and I am not talking about getting fat—or pr

Bhakti Lies beyond Renunciation

Those who possess Krishna prem are neither enjoyers nor renunciants. They are not karmis, fruitive workers; neither are they gyanies persons cultivating knowledge of the impersonal Brahman. Those who perform activities opposed to scriptural injunctions honor karmis, who abide by scriptural injunctions and when karmis who are eager to enjoy the results of their endeavors see the external renunciation of gyanies and renunciants, they may be attracted to them. However, those who hanker for bhagavat

Swans and Ducks - A Story

This story is taken from the Holy Biography of Nityalilapravishta Om Visnupada Paramahamsa 108 SriSrila Bhakti Dayita Madhava Gosvami Maharaja

Some ducks were swimming in a pond which was foul and stagnant. With great glee they were living by eating snails, worms, prawns, etc., in that putrid environment. One day, they saw their cousins flying overhead in the azure sky. They were in all respects, from feather to size, very beautiful. The ducks on the pond reasoned that the handsome appearance of

krishna-and-cow.jpg?w=300As many of us are convinced by Srila Prabhupada, “Simply by cleansing the cage of the bird, one does not satisfy the bird.” SB 1.2.8p Then natural question arises, “Can one simply by not cleansing the cage of the bird, satisfy the bird?”

Unfortunately this is not just joke, this is sad reality, what we are facing in so many situations by studying the real cases of Sri Sri Radha’s Krishna’s Beloved Devotees. Even Lord Sri Krishna is sad to feel this from inside and see this from outside, who we ar

Material Desires...

2514834197?profile=original The whole business of spiritual life is to give up material desires, and if you are maintaining material desires in spite of chanting the Hare Krishna mantra, then spiritual progress will become very-very difficult. This is comparable to someone who is trying to light fire and pour water on it at the same time. That is not possible.
