Thought Of The Day

Hare Krishna Radha-Krishna. Radha’s name is first. Why ? Nobody can be better devotee than Radharani. As soon as Radha’s name is there, Krishna is more pleased. That is the way. If we glorify the devotees, the character of the devotees, before the Lord, He is more pleased than to glorify Himself, He directly.(Converstions, Hawaii, 24th Apr, 1969). -By H.D.G. Govinda dasi on Srila Prabhupada

Posted on August 23, 2011Filed under BVKS SangaSometimes I would think, “Who is he? Nobody knows who he really is or wherehe really came from or how great he really is.” Especially in Boston I beganto feel very strongly that he was such a great personality and that I wasviewing only a very, very minute glimpse of him, and that actually much, much more was going on than I could realize.from Srila Prabhupada-lila 7-3: A Visit to Boston, 1968

Compassionate Liberated Souls

The human society is presently 5,000 years into the Kali Yuga, the Age of Quarrel and Hypocrisy. At the present time it is completely engulfed by cheating and lying. The worst cheaters are those who pose themselves to be honest well-wishing friends and then take advantage of the trust placed in them for exploiting those they pretend to befriend.

Because of this wide-scale cheating epidemic it has become very common for people to adopt the philosophy of skepticism and not trust anyone. Being tir

Morning activities

It had become a habit that Srila Prabhupada and his entourage would travel quite lightly. All the items Srila Prabhupada required would easily fit into a couple of suitcases along with Prabhupada's four or five sets of clothes, a couple of sweaters, Prabhupada's cooker and most of Srutakirti's belongings.

Srutakirti set about quickly unpacking Srila Prabhupada's bags. He placed Prabhupada's pen and his tilaka set on his low desk along with his compact mirror used when Prabhupada

Can I Worship Krishna Without Worshipping India?

Please accept my humble obeisances in the dust of Your Lotus Feet.

I have a question for which I cannot find the answer. When we are in the ISKCON temple, I sometimes feel some sadness. I don't know how to ask about it properly. I hope that You will understand me rightly. I love very much the divine way of Krishna consciousness, I understand the meaning of going back to our real home. I take it very seriously. I can't live without God. I understand

Remember Krishna
Krishna the Butter Thief
narrated by Mother Yasoda

There he is, my beautiful baby Krishna. Doesn't he look sweet? Sometimes I wonder how such an innocent-looking child could get into so much mischief.
Of course, to some he is not simply a child, but a poweful god, the eighth avatar of Vishnu, in fact. To me though he will always be my little boy.

However, I am not actually Krishna's birth mother. That honor belongs to Queen Devaki, wife of Vasudeva. Krishna was born while the couple

Don't trust the mind

The mind is always accompanied by six enemies-namely, käma, krodha, mada, moha, mätsarya and bhaya-that is, lust, anger, intoxication, illusion, envy and fear. Although the mind may be merged in spiritualconsciousness, one should always be very careful in dealing with it,just as one is careful in dealing with a snake. One should never thinkthat his mind is trained and that he can do whatever he likes. Oneinterested in spiritual life should always engage his mind in theservice of the Lord so that t

Love

atmendriya-priti-vancha—tare bali ‘kama’
krsnendriya-priti-iccha dhare ‘prema’ nama
The desire to gratify one’s own senses is kama [lust], but the desire to please the senses of Lord Krishna is prema [love].
Sri Caitanya Caritamrita Adi Lila 4.165

Here is a rough transcript of a talk about love given by a first class devotee, which I recently listened to.

Love is something not found in the material world.  A rumor, a lie or a joke.  What they call love in the material world is not love.  It's des
