What is the price for entering

into the kingdom of God ?

One should learn how to cry for the Lord.  One should learn this small technique, and he should bevery eager and actually cry to become engaged in some particular type of service.  This is called ‘laulyam’, and such tears are the price for the highest perfection.   If one develops this ‘laulyam’, orexcessive eagerness for meeting and serving the Lord in a particular way, that is the price to enterinto the kingdom of God.

Can Come Through Purely

sacinandana%2Bswami%2Bjapa.jpg

Please know that by chanting the holy name all anarthas will be removed. When our heart is cleansed from all this anartha dust, the form, qualities and pastimes of the Lord will automatically manifest themselves on the clear mirror of the purified heart. All this will be understood clearly when the coverings are removed from our heart. But it is important that you make special effort to avoid the offenses so that the holy name can come through purely and gives you all the perfections.

The Magnanimity of a Devotee's Heart

Srimad Bhaagavatam 11.14.16

nirapeksham munim shaantam / nirvairam sama-darshanam

Thus, I always follow the footsteps of My pure devotees, who are free from all personal desire, rapt in thought of My pastimes, peaceful, without any feelings of enmity, and of equal disposition everywhere."

Srila Prabhupada on Asuric Rulers

Kṛṣṇa appears in this world for two purposes, paritrāṇāya sādhūnāḿ vināśāya ca duṣkṛtām: [Bg. 4.8] to protect the innocent, religious devotees of the Lord and to annihilate all the uneducated, uncultured asuras, who unnecessarily bark like dogs and fight among themselves for political power. It is said, kali-kāle nāma-rūpe kṛṣṇaavatāra. The Hare Kṛṣṇa movement is also an incarnation of Kṛṣṇa in the form of the holy name (nāma-rūpe). Every one of us who is actually afraid of the asuric rulers and

TURMOIL OF YOUTH, WITHIN THE FAMILY

Q. I have a concern about my attitude with my family these days. I have been arguing about almost everything and it is really hard for me to control. Half the problem is solved because I realized that the reason I can even talk back to them is because I don't have respect for them in my heart. The other half is I don't know how to develop the respect again for them. What should I do?You are half way to reaching a solution already! A major part of any interpersonal conflict is recognizing our own

Answer: You Become Perfect in Chanting

You can lead a horse to the water, but you can't force him to drink. If you want to convince others to chant, you should become so perfect in your chanting that others will be attracted to chanting simply by getting your associatio

Morning activities

It had become a habit that Srila Prabhupada and his entourage would travel quite lightly. All the items Srila Prabhupada required would easily fit into a couple of suitcases along with Prabhupada's four or five sets of clothes, a couple of sweaters, Prabhupada's cooker and most of Srutakirti's belongings.

Srutakirti set about quickly unpacking Srila Prabhupada's bags. He placed Prabhupada's pen and his tilaka set on his low desk along with his compact mirror used when Prabhupada

Better to stay in the association of devoteesThursday, 5 February 1973It was less than ten months since Srila Prabhupada's last visit to Australia. Despite their very best intentions, however, the devotees were once again not quite ready for Srila Prabhupada's arrival. Prabhupada's flight from Bangkok was scheduled to stop in transit in Sydney. The Sydney devotees had planned to greet him there, and then stay with him for the few hours until he boarded his local flight to Melbourne. But there ha

One has to simply satisfy Krishna

Wednesday, 7 February 1973

Prabhupada departed out of Calcutta for his flight to Melbourne via Bangkok. Two devotees accompanied him. Srutakirti, a bright young brahmacari, acted as his servant. Bali-mardana, now returning to Australia as a sannyasi, was his secretary.

Prabhupada had planned to install 60cm marble Radha-Krsna Deities in Melbourne. The Deities had been acquired in India and now Bali-mardana and Srutakirti carried one Deity each on the flight out to

Radhanath Swami Arriving In Mathura

Mathura1.jpg

IT WAS ABOUT FIVE O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING and dawn was just emerging. Not knowing where to go or what to do, Radhanath Swami stood with his friend on a railway platform, which bustled with the crowds who came off the train and the hundreds who wrestled to get on. Amid it all, a strange comfort arose in Radhanath Swami’s heart. It was similar to that feeling he had while praying in the temple of Kasi Viswanath, a feeling that something special was about to happen in his life. There appeared to be

Being complete Human Beings

schloss-rettershof-300x197.jpg

Devotees should be very complete personalities, it is about developing all the aspects of a personality and we should be complete human beings. This is something that really attracts me to Prabhupada, namely that not only that he is the great, exalted, pure devotee and completely on the topmost transcendental platform but at the same time he is so human, so very human in his dealings. And that endears him to me very much, that combination. I’m thinking that if we also can reach that then that wi
