Remembering Srila Prabhupada - Janaka

Janaka

After the feast, Srila Prabhupada spoke with John and his wife, Carol in his room. John explained to Prabhupada that they had given their son the name Yenaka Betsoon -- an American Indian name meaning "Magic Boy from the Stars". Prabhupada, looking thoughtful, gently corrected them.

"Actually, you are pronouncing it wrong. It should be Janaka -- J-a-n-a-k-a."

Prabhupada explained that Janaka was the name of a great saintly king. The couple took heed of Prabhupada's advice and from that day Yenaka became Janaka.
