In the wake of the devastating train crash in Balasore, Odisha, the ISKCON Bahanaga temple has emerged as a crucial support center for the affected victims and dedicated volunteers. The temple, under construction, is just steps away from the accident scene.

Masons working at the temple witnessed the horrific collision between the Coromandel Express and a freight train stopped on the tracks. A third passenger train also became tangled in the wreckage, adding to the casualties

I had the good fortune to have my ‘go bro’ (godbrother), Krishnadasa, at the temple/ashram today, so we were ‘shooting the breeze’, but not speaking empty words. Our sit down together is never devoid of concern for the world and a need for higher consciousness. We shifted from one corner of the cozy basement to another, and then to Govinda's, which is the dining room on the main floor. Then he had to depart, and I shifted once again to a place of comfort and coolness (yes, the head Has suddenly

Situated in the vast Gangetic plains of India, it is amongst the seven most sacred cities (sapta-puri). It draws millions of pilgrims from all over the world. In the Rig Veda, the city was referred to as Kasi or Kashi, which means ‘the l

11518386652?profile=RESIZE_400xThe fellow next to me on the WestJet flight from Calgary had just placed his guitar in case in the overhead bin. He made it clear to the flight attendant that it is a special, very expensive guitar, and that's where it is going to stay occupying the entire bin. He was adamant.

I thought there was going to be a scene, especially when the attendant said firmly, “That's not how they do things on this aircraft.”

“It's not moving,” said the guitarist. It almost felt like a showdown about to happen. B

The other team is headed by another great vaisnava Nirmala Kanti Prabhu, standing to the right of Arjuna Prabhu, and second to the left is Ilavati dasi, Krishna Tattva Pr’s wife. Health Issues – Dallas, Texas, USA, 02 June 2023, 1.30 a.m. CDT

Jayapataka Swami: This morning at 1:30 am, the night shift devotee noticed that I had become practically motionless. He attempted to wake me up, but it appeared that I was in a diabetic coma as I was unresponsive. He immediately contacted Mahavaraha and the attending doctor, Dr. Vinay Gaurachandra. Upon examination, it was discovered that my blood sugar had dangerously dropped to around 29 or a similar level.
In America, 911 is the

Devotees in Arizona have recently opened a home temple and community outreach center called Mantra Oasis on the east side of Tucson. The 3-bedroom house is located in a nice eastside neighborhood that has a very large family room which makes a perfect temple room/gathering hall for guests.

The new Mantra Oasis project was spearheaded by Atula Govinda Dasa and Dr. Erik Vose, with the encouragement of their spiritual master Jivananda Dasa Vanacari, to offer a residential preachi

In both cities, Edmonton and Calgary, at the Radha Govinda Cultural Centre and Radha Madhava Cultural Centre respectively, the attendance was not what I expected. Post COVID era (A.C. if you want to call it) is seeing the floodgates opening up with people. Edmonton's Sunday program commences at 10:30 AM, and I would say that the turnout of congregants was the smallest I've seen, though the kirtan was lively. Of course, I personally get super excited when someone beats on a djembe while respecti

The Hare Krishna Movement is arguably among the world’s most misunderstood spiritual paths, externally appearing biased along sectarian lines but with an inclusive and non-sectarian core philosophy.

Srila Prabhupada faced the monumental task of delivering this fully inclusive message of Sanatan Dharma (the eternal position of all souls) while presenting it with all the cultural trappings of historical Vaishnavism. This is no criticism, but rather an appreciation of the countless challenges and

At almost any time of the day, you can spot these hares that change colour from brown in the summer to white in the winter. They are not exactly like bunnies that cutely hop along. They more aggressively lunge forward with a strong leap in stride. Naturally, they get mobile when they see a pedestrian get close to them. Magpies are also a common creature in Alberta, quite aggressive they are. When walking from the inn to the Krishna temple in the early morn, I find that I'm not alone.

Stress, according to The World Health Organization, is the “health epidemic of the 21st century.” Demanding circumstances make us tense mentally, emotionally, and physically, and over time that tension takes a serious toll on our wellbeing. While there are many ways to deal with stress, one often overlooked and highly effective way is to cultivate a state of inner satisfaction. The word satisfaction, meaning the pleasure derived from the fulfillment of one’s wishes, expecta

I was westbound to Alberta in that northern city of oil and gas, Edmonton. The province of Alberta was a smoky place for about two weeks with forest fires. I was a little concerned about stepping into what could still be a smoke-filled place. Even though news informed us that thousands of people had to be evacuated, including horses and livestock, I was travelling like a missionary.

Fortunately, when I landed, I saw the sky to be clear, while there was still need for more rain. A small party ca
