By Sri Nandanandana dasa (Stephen Knapp)

As many of you know, when I was initiated by His Divine Grace, Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, I was given the name of Sri Nandanandana dasa.

When I was to be accepted for initiation, I was told to write a paper on the significance of being initiated. I did the research from whatever books we had back then, and found that I really liked going through my books of Srila Prabhupada and gathering the information for the paper. The paper was then

How did you come to Krishna consciousness?

Whilst growing up and into adulthood, I was extremely curious and interested to learn about Ayurveda, yoga and the philosophies of various religions. In my head, it was a big mess of different philosophies and teachings, but I was leaning more towards the learnings of various yoga systems from Indian gurus. A bit later, I stumbled upon the definition of bhakti yoga (devotional service). In the beginning, I felt like it wasn’t for me but my feelings sta

Hide your Guru

2515199094?profile=original

By Madhavananda Das

In Hari-bhakti-vilasa, verse 2.147, Srila Sanatan Goswami quotes Sammohana-tantra:

gopayed devatam istam gopayed gurum atmanah
gopayec ca nijam mantram gopayen nija-malikam

One should hide one’s ista-deva, one should hide one’s guru, one should hide one’s mantra, and one should hide one’s japa-mala.

Wise persons keep their valuables in a confidential place. Similarly, an intelligent sadhaka does not advertise his or her guru, nor do they broadcast themselves as disciples of

To glorify him, whose stature is as stalwart as sky

My words falter, I feel too shy.

Its hard to imagine, the wonders he did.

Like a magician does a spell on others, unnoticed.

How can one believe, that one who failed for 42 years

Would be successful in a land of unknown fears!!!

After each failure, his plans turned bigger.

Sure enough to show us, he didn’t have ordinary vigour.

Be it Allahabad, Jhansi, or New York, Lord himself placed so much hurdle,

To make us understand, he wasn’t made of

Up Coming Fasting Days

SUNDAY 15th Sept is actually Ekadasi but we don't fast on that day because the presence of dashami during the Brahma muhurta pollutes the Ekadasi, according to Sanatana Goswami. The GCAL agrees with this.

Monday 16th Sept is Dvadasi and so fasting for both the Parsva Parivartana Ekadasi and the most auspicious appearance day of Lord Vamanadeva is observed. The fasting for Lord Vamanadeva can be for just a half day and the feast must be strictly Ekadasi prasada only. See Ref 1. below. Monday is

Nothing But Service

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

Srila Prabhupada

Vrndavana, October 21, 1972

A devotee of Krsna has no desire for material
gains; he only wants to serve God.

The Krsna consciousness message is Krsnas tu bhagavan svayam [Bhag.1.3.28]. There is no other Bhagavan. Bhagavan means full of six opulences. So Krsna is completely, cent percent full of all opulences. Even Narayana, He is ninety-six percent. And Lord Siva is eig

Srila Prabhupada: embodiment of simplicity……………….Nectarean Mellows

Being simple is a very very great opulence in this age of Kali. Srila Prabhupada was so simple. He really didn’t want anything for himself. He just wanted to serve. He just wanted to speak the truth.
