Thought Of The Day

So this world, however faithfully you give service, it will be never recognized -- because it is hallucination, illusion. You are serving your senses. You are not serving any person. You are serving your senses. So when one comes to this position, he understands that "I am actually servant, but I am posing myself falsely as master." That is real sense. Then whose servant I am? I am Krsna's servant. Therefore Krsna comes and demands: sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja [Bg. 18.66]. We

ISKCON Youth Festival, Indore

In the name of secularism, it has been very difficult to approach colleges and have direct KC programs. Also college students today are not all interested in spirituality due to wrong association and a loss of culture in modern indian families. On top of that the media adds to the atheism by producing films like OMG (Oh My God), which spread lot of misconceptions of God in a heroic way. So one of our preaching activities is to counter / clarify the misconceptions in ways which are interesting a

Spiritual Association

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

With spiritual association our lives improve and we change the lives of others. We can associate with the more advanced, equally advanced or less advanced but spiritual association is a must. We live in an environment where everyone is trying to make us forget God.  But Krsna consciousness teaches you a science, the science of bhakti-yoga where you engage in devotional service to the Lord. To get this spiritual associat

Spiritual Advancement

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

All of you have been practicing Krsna consciousness for long time therefore you should develop determination to make spiritual advancement.  Just like if we have fever for long time and fever does not go down, we get worried. Similarly, we should not just hang in spiritually but our goal should be to make spiritual advancement. Spiritual advancement means getting attached to holy name, to the philosophy, to serve and to

Follow Instructions

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

When you want a disease to be cured, you don’t catch any man on the street and ask him to operate on you. You have to make sure he is a properly qualified doctor. Similarly, you should reveal your mind to those who are more advanced – Guru or Sadhu. But reveal your mind with an intention to follow their instructions else it is similar to going to a doctor and avoid taking the prescribed medicine. Revealing the mind has a

Do not react wrongly to “problems”

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

A study of three hundred highly successful people, people like Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Helen Keller, Winston Churchill, Albert Schweitzer, Mahatma Gandhi, and Albert Einstein, reveals that one-fourth had handicaps, such as blindness, deafness, or crippled limbs. Three-fourths had either been born in poverty, came from broken homes, or at least came from exceedingly tense or disturbed situations.

Why did the achievers o

SB 5.3.15- Initiation into bhakti begins when one is in a distressed condition or in want of money, or when one is inquisitive to understand the Absolute Truth. Nonetheless, people who approach the Supreme Lord in this way are not actually devotees. They are accepted as pious (sukrtinah) due to their inquiring about the Absolute Truth, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Not knowing the various activities and engagements

A Wise Leader

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Once upon a time, there was a deer who was the leader of a herd of a thousand. He had two sons. One was very slim and tall, with bright alert eyes, and smooth reddish fur. He was called Beauty. The other was gray in color, also slim and tall, and was called Gray.

One day, after they were fully grown, their father called Beauty and Gray to him. He said, "I am now very old, so I cannot do all that is necessary to look afte

Hare Krishna.

What a wonderful and joyous day to look forward to.

I got up around 3 am and rushed to attend the Mangal arti at Punjabi Bagh temple. At 4.30am the whole road  was full of neatly parked cars. There were devotees assisting  the drivers. The que outside the temple was already long. By Krishna's mercy I could enter from the exit gate and then a devotee put me in the crowd control service. In minutes I was standing right outside the temple hall from where my eyes could take darshan of th

My love affair with Lord Jagannath

Hare Krishna.

This was 2011.  I had started going to Punjabi Bagh temple. I used to be very surprised to see a very different looking set of deities. They were Lord Jagannath, Baldeva and Subhdra Maharani. In my immaturity I didn't pay much attention to Them and almost smiled at the unique shape of Their bodies, while paying my full attention to Sri Krishna Balaram deities.

Lord Jagannath  is most merciful, within few months I was head over heals in love with Him.  I heard about Him in lectures by

Brahman realization is not enough

The first step for any seeker of absolute truth is to realize that He is not this body He is soul  "I am Brahman." ~  aham brahmasmi. (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.4.10) and "The Self (the Soul) is Brahman." ~ayam atma brahma. (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.4.5) . But that understanding is not sufficient to transcend the perplexities of this material world. If I am soul and am not meant to be engaged in matter what should be my activity because I can’t remain without any activity because the definiti

Special chanting at Surat

Hare Krishna.

18th August 2013.

Our second day in Surat. I woke up late in the morning as the last evening ended very late. By the time I got ready and reached the apartment where Guru Maharaja was staying it was almost 7am and not a single  japa round done. As I entered the living room one of the Brahamchari, who had come from Ujjain, pointed me to sit right across him. I had planned to walk but I followed his instruction and sat down and started my japa rounds.

I closed my eyes, as too many peopl
