Thought Of The Day

Difficulties of life may come as seasonal changes but we should not be disturbed by all those difficulties. Our process is to chant and that process will gradually clear everything in due course.

The main service I would like to do for Krishna is to help people by writing books that use all the knowledge of religion, philosophy, science, and psychology that I've learned to explain the intricacies of Krishna Consciousness to people of other religious faiths so that they can see how it corresponds to their own religion. I want to point out to them also all the other religions' correspondences with each other, to benefit everyone who has to deal with people in their daily lives who seriousl

Kamika Ekadasi

Next week is Kamika Ekadasi. This Ekadasi has special benedictions which you can read about elsewhere on this website. But the ones I am most concerned with are as follows:

"This Ekadasi is the purest of all days and the most powerful for removing sins of the native.

Oh Narad ji, Lord Shri Hari Himself once said about this Ekadasi, "One who fasts on Kamika Ekadasi attains much more merit than one who studies all the spiritual literatures.

'Anyone who fasts on this particular day remains awake throu

NO ONE TO MAINTAIN GARDENS AT OUR TEMPLE???
[June 1975, ISKCON Hawaii, USA]

Usually the grounds in New Navadwip (Hawaii, USA) were very nice, but one time Srila Prabhupada arrived and they had not been maintained.

"Why this garden isn't taken care of?" Srila Prabhupada asked while touring the property.

"Srila Prabhupada," Sukadeva Dasa said. "There is no one to do it."

At the time, there were approximately 20 devotees walking with Srila Prabhupada.

"How is this?" Srila Prabhupada asked

GLORIES TO SRILA A.C. BHAKTIVEDANTA SWAMI PRABHUPADA

WE SHOULD NOT BE FRUSTRATED IN DEVOTIONAL LIFE BUT SHOULD BE CONFIDENT.

SB Canto 4

Even if one attains a heavenly planet, he cannot avoid the distresses of birth, old age, disease and death. Someone may argue that even devotees have to undergo many distresses in executing austerities and penances connected with devotional service. Of course, for the neophytes the routine of devotional service may be very painful, but at least they have th

My life

I need devotees help in how to become a better preacher to my wife. I am married to a non-devotee, but she is exceptionally supportive of me because I have woken her up to the spiritual life. She is a Psychologist by profession, and has an amazing grasp of the human mind. She is also trained in Reiki, and is naturally very psychically sensitive (she sees auras and can feel people's energies). Nonetheless, I have to tread carefully when it comes to talking about God because of her ingrained funda

A Godless Civilization

The Nava Bharat Times of Bombay had published sometimes before a news from Mount Abu dated 18th Nov. 1958 where our Prime Minister Shri Nehru had spoken of misuse of public fund in the name of religion. It is rampant all over the country nay all over the world as much as there is misuse of public fund in the name of political progress. We have a number of cases of this nature in the High Courts of

A Spiritual Study of Greed

The Black-marketeers who have been recently raided in large scale by the police in Bihar, are almost in all cases rich merchants, millionaires, landlords etc. It would not have been possible for them to hoard such huge quantity of clothes and foodgrains if they would not have possessed extra wealth to do the mischief. These people were not needy men but they amassed money and hoarded commodities

Skyscrapers Lessons

2514919143?profile=original

Skyscrapers are well-known for their deep foundations. The calculation of
depth is primarily based on three things:

The height of the building
The softness of the soil
The severity of the weather conditions

As long as you have a good foundation, you can build as high as you like.

The building of our life can rise high. We can adopt challenging projects, accept multiple responsibilities, tackle stressful situations and fly high in the skies of successi as long as we have deep spiritual founda

What is prasadam?

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

What is prasadam?

The word `prasad' means that which gives peace. Prasada is the sacred food offering of the Lord. The prasadam of the Lord is very purifying. If it is taken with faith and devotion, it brings miraculous results to the person who honors it. The Lord enjoys the subtle essence of the food offered to Him with love. The food is then honored as prasadam.

The mahatma is always engaged in different activities of devotional service, as described in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, hearing and chanting about Visnu, not a demigod or human being. That is devotion: sravannam kirtanam visnoh and smaranam, remembering Him. Such a mahatma has firm determination to achieve at the ultimate end the association of the Supreme Lord in any one of the five transcendental rasas. To achieve that su
