Thought Of The Day

Prabhupada: Oh, that's nice. It is very nice. So intelligent men and women should take interest in this great movement. It is a very scientific spiritual movement. People are suffering for lack of spiritual knowledge. They have become materially like animals. Materialism means animalism. Yes. Materialism means animalism. Animalism means in the lower grade of existence. What is the difference between dog and a human being. He has got a lower grade body, and the human being has got a higher grade

Rakhe Krishna Bakrid ke…!!

A few days back, one devotee came up to me and told me how inspired she was to put more faith in the Lord since the time she had heard me mention the phrase - Rakhe Krsna, mare ke in one of my earlier classes in Raichur. I was reflecting on the miraculous incident that occurred just the day before and how when the Lord decides to protect, the fortunate living entity beats the odds and survives.

The miraculous sequence of events unfolded before our eyes on the tuesday, the day before the Bakrid. B

MY GURU

The Srimad Bhagavatam describes how the trees in Vrindavana are bowing down due to their heavy fruits. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu explained this by describing how a person who has the fruits of good qualities is like a tree with good fruits. The weights of the fruits cause the tree to bow down to everyone. But a tree that doesn’t have good fruits stands up very straight, doesn’t bow to anyone.

A person who has character, amanina manadena, is eager to offer respect to the divinity, the spiritual ess

What am I doing here?

So the Vaisnava philosophy is... They want to remain predominated by the supreme predominator. And the Mayavada philosophy, the monists, they want to merge into the predominator. Their idea is to become themselves predominator. When they fail to become predominator in this material world... We are all trying to become predominator. Everyone is trying. Bhokta. "I shall..." Competition is going on.

The difference between a devotee and a non-devotee  is this, just like the bee and the fly ; the bee always is attracted by the honeyand flies go to the open sores. So the devotee is only attracted by the good qualities in other people and does not see theirfaults.

Our eyes close - the eyelid closes them. But Vishnu's eye never closes. Therefore He is called animisa. Therefore the gopis condemned Brahma, “Why have you awarded us these nonsense eyelids? It sometimes closes the eye and we cannot see Krishna.” This is the desire of the gopis - they want to see Krishna always, without being disturbed by the eyelids. This is Krishna consciousness. The moment, when the eyes are closed b

Srila Prabhupada Says - [Rascal Scientists]

Where is your science? Why the scientists dying? Why they cannot invent some means, a tablet, that "At the time of my death, push this tablet in my belly. I'll not die"? Why they are unable to do so? Who can answer this? Why the rascal scientists do not manufacture such things that there'll be no death for the scientists? Hm? What do you say? Anyone for scientists can plead? (l

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Here, in a few words, Srila Prabhupada explains many major points. The essence is that simple truths are elusive, sometimes even invisible.

" Sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam... [Bg. 18.66]. That is the beginning of pure devotional service. No other engagement. Simply Krsna. That is pure devotional service. But that is very difficult to achieve. People will not accept the simple thing. You give them big, big formulas,

Srila Prabhupada Says – [Regarding how the Bhagavad Gita was originally spoken from the mouth of Lord Kṛṣṇa and if we read the Bhagavad Gita in the same appreciative manner in which Arjuna heard from Lord Kṛṣṇa we can also understand the words spoken by Lord Sri Krsna]

“We are all fools like that. Arjuna is not fool. Arjuna has been been described as Guḍakesa. How he can be fool? But he is playing the part of fool. If he

PUNDIT AND RICH MAN:

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

There was a Pundit in the village. He was well-versed in all Scriptures. He knew everything, but, he was poor. He did not have a house. He used to get his meals also with great difficulties. Even his clothes were very much worn out.

So, the Pundit used to beg for his meals. He went from House-to-House begging. “Please give me alms”. On seeing his old clothes many people were thinking that he is mad. So, saying “Go Away
