-oh mother, what will you do with few coins even if I give you? Is it this only thing you are asking from me? I wish I could serve you in a better way I can…

These thoughts over and over sadly floated in my mind whenever I see aged ladies in white sarees before me with their begging pots.

Sri Radha Kund. June, 2011. I just completed my second semester and we had one and half month vacations. So I wanted to use this time, at least 20 days traveling to the holiest place in India to Sri Vrindavan Dham. 

I was studying for a scholarship so my monthly stipend was 5000 Rs. So out of that I tried to save some money for such trips.

I booked a ticket to a sleeper class train and went to the Dham. With the hope that I will attend full day kirtans at Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Temple and stay in a rented room.

…………….19 days past.

I had only 500 Rs to go back to the south of India, to the place I study plus my return ticket. So decided to keep 200 Rs for traveling and use other part for serving to Brajabasis even in a very tiny way – 300 Rs.

In the evening Sri Radhika Mataji, in whose house I was renting a room talked with a cook around Radha Kund. He was cook of samosas. So we requested to make ready 100 samosas for the next day. He agreed.

Just with this decision that I will serve to these Vaishnavis I was enthused. Whole evening I was anticipating ‘when will come tomorrow?!’

Next morning, SUDDENLY SUNNY DAYS TURNED INTO A DARKISH RAINY DAY. Rain started to fall as if water from the bucket. I looked over the window and saw people running and taking shelter of roofs.

My heart cried: ‘why? Why this day?’

‘How we will take hot samosas and to whom we will distribute?’ It was my last day in Radha Kund and if today I do not distribute next morning I had to LEAVE. So I was really unhappy. Again and again I prayed to Srimati Radharani, ‘oh Mother, why? Please, allow me to serve to Your Devotees!’ tears were pouring from my eyes resembling to that of a rain over the window to which I was looking at. 

Hours went on, but still rain did not stop. Husband of Sri Radhika Mataji took umbrella and went to get samosas. After half an hour he came with huge pocket in his hand and told us to come out and try to distribute no matter what it is.

We offered few samosas to their home Deities Sri Sri Radha Govinda and went to distribute Prasadam. Rain slowed down. Now it was raining as if garland makers sprinkle water over the flowers to keep them fresh enough.
It was cool. Streets were empty. But here and there we started to see those Brajabasis in white sarees. Prabhu opened the heavy pocket he was carrying and told me to take by 2 peaces and give to Matajis. My heart was filling with happiness with each going away samosa Prasadam. They were warm outside and hot from within. Just exact needed meal in this cool weather.

‘Mataji, Mataji, please accept Prasadam!’ with joy I was running after each aged lady and requesting each to accept this humble offering. And each one of them received Prasadam with huge smile in their faces. Some took hot samosas with the help of the corner of their sarees, some had ready plates for accepting food.

In this way we were circumambulating Sri Sri Radha and Shyama Kunds and suddenly I saw a Babaji whom I used to see every day.  Who always used to sit in the corner of the street and chant the Holy Names. He was as simple as like a child. Sometimes people used to donate him coins but unfortunately many times village boys used to steal away his coins…

So it was a great opportunity for me to serve to him also. So when he got hot samosas he cried out: ‘Jai Giriraj Maharaj! Jai Giriraj!’

In this way samosas are completed. Pocket was empty. 

AND

THEN ONLY WE SAW SOME
ONE OR TRUE, MANY ONES IN WHOSE PRESENCE THERE WAS NO CHANCE OF FREELY WALKING
AROUND AND DISTRIBUTING FOOD.

MONKEYS!!!

When we are in Radha Kund or in Vrindavan it is very difficult to carry some fruits or any other food in simple pockets what to speak of brining them out and sharing it with others. No way! Because ‘KGB s’ of those Dhams are very attentive!

Monkeys carry away not only food but eye glasses…& anything they find interesting.

When I had even a tiny desire to serve to Brajabasis She thought and planned everything so that I can fulfill my desire – to please Her Devotees.

She made a day rainy so that monkeys take rest and allow us to serve peacefully.

Holy Dham, especially Vrindavan Dham is outside of this material world. It is spiritual world! None of nine planets have their control over there. Everything happens by the will of Srimati Vrindavaneshvari!

If we want to please and serve to Sri Shyamasundar and His beloved Devotees She organizes everything so that we do it in a best way we can.
