Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

When you want a disease to be cured, you don’t catch any man on the street and ask him to operate on you. You have to make sure he is a properly qualified doctor. Similarly, you should reveal your mind to those who are more advanced – Guru or Sadhu. But reveal your mind with an intention to follow their instructions else it is similar to going to a doctor and avoid taking the prescribed medicine. Revealing the mind has a

Do not react wrongly to “problems”

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

A study of three hundred highly successful people, people like Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Helen Keller, Winston Churchill, Albert Schweitzer, Mahatma Gandhi, and Albert Einstein, reveals that one-fourth had handicaps, such as blindness, deafness, or crippled limbs. Three-fourths had either been born in poverty, came from broken homes, or at least came from exceedingly tense or disturbed situations.

SB 5.3.15- Initiation into bhakti begins when one is in a distressed condition or in want of money, or when one is inquisitive to understand the Absolute Truth. Nonetheless, people who approach the Supreme Lord in this way are not actually devotees. They are accepted as pious (sukrtinah) due to their inquiring about the Absolute Truth, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Not knowing the various activities and engagements

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Once upon a time, there was a deer who was the leader of a herd of a thousand. He had two sons. One was very slim and tall, with bright alert eyes, and smooth reddish fur. He was called Beauty. The other was gray in color, also slim and tall, and was called Gray.

One day, after they were fully grown, their father called Beauty and Gray to him. He said, "I am now very old, so I cannot do all that is necessary to look afte

Janamashathami celebrations 2013

Hare Krishna.

What a wonderful and joyous day to look forward to.

I got up around 3 am and rushed to attend the Mangal arti at Punjabi Bagh temple. At 4.30am the whole road  was full of neatly parked cars. There were devotees assisting  the drivers. The que outside the temple was already long. By Krishna's mercy I could enter from the exit gate and then a devotee put me in the crowd control service. In minutes I was standing right outside the temple hall from where my eyes could take darshan of th

My love affair with Lord Jagannath

Hare Krishna.

This was 2011.  I had started going to Punjabi Bagh temple. I used to be very surprised to see a very different looking set of deities. They were Lord Jagannath, Baldeva and Subhdra Maharani. In my immaturity I didn't pay much attention to Them and almost smiled at the unique shape of Their bodies, while paying my full attention to Sri Krishna Balaram deities.

Lord Jagannath  is most merciful, within few months I was head over heals in love with Him.  I heard about Him in lectures by

Brahman realization is not enough

The first step for any seeker of absolute truth is to realize that He is not this body He is soul  "I am Brahman." ~  aham brahmasmi. (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.4.10) and "The Self (the Soul) is Brahman." ~ayam atma brahma. (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.4.5) . But that understanding is not sufficient to transcend the perplexities of this material world. If I am soul and am not meant to be engaged in matter what should be my activity because I can’t remain without any activity because the definiti

Special chanting at Surat

Hare Krishna.

18th August 2013.

Our second day in Surat. I woke up late in the morning as the last evening ended very late. By the time I got ready and reached the apartment where Guru Maharaja was staying it was almost 7am and not a single  japa round done. As I entered the living room one of the Brahamchari, who had come from Ujjain, pointed me to sit right across him. I had planned to walk but I followed his instruction and sat down and started my japa rounds.

I closed my eyes, as too many peopl

Thought Of The Day

So if you want real happiness, then you have to take the real method. That is Krsna consciousness movement. It is not a bluff. It is most scientific. You are... Your aim of life is how to become happy, but you do not know how to become happy. You are under the illusion. You are thinking that "This thing will give me happiness. That thing will give me happiness." No. And what is that happiness? Happiness, that is explained here: in twelve rasas. So you accept these twelve rasas in exchange of you

Lustfully Looking at Women is Illicit?

Answers by Citing the Vedic Version:

Question: Lustfully Looking at Women is Illicit?

I'd like to know:  Is it a violation of the illicit sex regulative principle if I look at women with lust?

Sincerely,
Janis

Answer: Yes, So See All Women as Mother.

Yes it is illicit sex to look at women lustfully. This principle is also confirmed as follows in the Christian Bible (Matthew 5:28):

“But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
