Modern education system is lower knowledge

Once ‘Saunaka’, Son of ‘Sunaka’, a great householder approached Angiras as prescribed and asked, ‘Venerable Sir, Which is that thing by knowing which all this becomes known? [Mundaka Upanishad 1.1.3]

To him he replied. Two kind of Knowledge are to be known, the higher and the lower. [Mundaka Upanishad 1.1.4]

Of these two, the lower knowledge is the Rig—Veda, the Yagur—Veda, the Sama—Veda, the Atharva—Veda, siksha (phonetics), kalpa (rituals), vyakaranam (grammar), nirukta (etymology), chhandas (m

By H.H. Jayapataka Swami

One day it was Govardhana Puja and we built a big mountain of rice and fed many people. The people took their leaf plates after taking prasadam, and threw them behind the building. Prabhupada was living up on the second floor, and we were sitting in the room together. He heard dogs barking and kids shouting so he got up and walked back on the veranda behind his room. Looking over, he saw that there was this big pile of discarded leaf plates and there were little scraps of

Thought Of The Day

Prabhupada: So according to Vedic way, Krsna is the Absolute Truth. Krsna is Absolute Truth, accepted by the acaryas. Indian civilization is carried on the advice of the acarya-sampradaya. So all the acaryas like Sankaracarya, Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, they all accept Krsna as the Absolute Truth. So when we hear from Krsna then we get absolute knowledge.

Appreciation

By His Grace Kalakantha Dasa

There are twelve petals in Srila Prabhupada’s centennial celebration lotus and one is dedicated to congregational development.

• We must create an atmosphere most conducive to development of congregational community extending from the ISKCON temples, from our preachers.
• The seed of devotion within the hearts of our contacts and friends must be carefully nurtured.
• We must communicate with and fully understand the needs of our congregation.
• We must prioritize and esta

The dome of the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium as it stands in December 2013

Construction Company Gammon India and chairman Ambarisa Das (Alfred B. Ford) have addressed concerns raised by a former employee about the structural stability of the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium in Mayapur, India.

A former TOVP site supervisor had come across several internal operational emails between Gammon and the engineers of the TOVP, ISKCON’s currently under-construction headquarters. In the emails, Gamm

Thought Of The Day

Prabhupada: Nothing happens accidentally. According to Vedic literature, there is no such word as "accident." The word is adrsta: There is cause; I cannot see it. Adrsta. It is not in my vision, but there is cause. There is no question of accident.

Isaiah 40:28

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

* Mercy of God

While being crucified, Jesus cried. But he did not cry for himself, instead he cried for those who were committing the gravest sin. Jesus was continuously praying to God to forgive those who were menacingly torturing and trying to kill him. Jesus, the son of God, had come to this world to spread the message of peace and love and to effect this change he was ready to sacrifice everything. This is the foremost quality of a holy man, for spreading God consciousness he is ready to brook any kinds of

Passing of Keshava Dasi (SDG)

2514943221?profile=original

By now many of you have heard of the sad, untimely passing of Keshava Dasi, wife and dear friend of Shaunaka Rishi Prabhu.

Keshava struggled with poor health for many years and passed away in the early hours of 19 December.

Keshava was the warmest of friends and with her sharp intellect it is no platitude to say that she was one of the forces behind the founding of the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, of which Shaunaka is the Director.

As a devotee of Krishna, Keshava was a wonder. The deep
