Consciousness

Hare Krishna.31st Dec, Ujjain. The meals at the Ujjain retreat are very lavish by ISKCON standards. So yesterday after having another sumptuous breakfast I commented to Baljinder Prabhu how nice the arrangements are for the meals and there are so many devotees serving us as if we are in some 5 star restaurant. After we filled our plates initially, each dish was being served piping hot at our tables so that we don’t have to get up from our tables. That was my consciousness. Then I met Atma Prabhu o

Pleasure in being the servant of the servant

Hare Krishna30th Dec, Ujjain.During the morning class today Guru Maharaj spoke about how we can take the example that In the field of atheism and Buddhism Sankracharya sowed the seeds or a base of Vedas. To dig we have to go down, in the reverse direction , so Sankracharya made the base by digging in the reverse directions, which is impersonalism, then the four Vaishanava acharya build the temple on that base. Finally MahaPrabhu came and established the Deities of Sri Radha Krishna in that templ

Facing a Pure devotee

Hare Krishna.29th Dec, UjjainLast evening as a wonderful evening came to an end with an ecstatic Kirtan by Guru Maharaj, an ever merciful Atma Prabhu called me and Baljinder Prabhu to Guru Maharaj’s quarter. At first I thought he has called us for Guru Maharaj’s Maha Maha Prasadam , couldn’t think that he is taking us for Guru Maharaj’s darshan. So when we entered straight into Guru Maharaj’s room I was tongue tied. For many seconds I didn’t know what to speak and then I hurriedly blurted out how

Lord Caitanya’s movement is a movement of purification and transformation of the individual to reach the level of complete love of Godhead by chanting God’s name. This is most powerfully actualized in a group; thus the yuga dharma is sankirtana, congregational chanting. This is enhanced by continuous association of like-minded persons who are dedicated to spiritual advancement. Such persons associate by friendship, mutual encouragement, spiritual discussion, working to

Thought Of The Day

Prabhupada: No, God has created perfect, but you have become imperfect by misusing your independence. God is fully independent. You are part and parcel of God. Therefore you have got that quality, independence. When you misuse that, you become bad; when you use it properly, you remain good.

By H.D.G. Srila Prabhupada

BIOGAPHY

When His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada entered the port of New York City on September 17, 1965 few Americans took notice — but he was not merely another immigrant. He was on a mission to introduce the ancient teachings of Vedic India into mainstream America. Before Srila Prabhupada passed away on November 14, 1977 at the age of 81, his mission proved successful. He had founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and saw it grow into a worldwide c

The Relationships of Sri Krishna…

What is the relationship between Radha & Krishna?

radha reflection

Even today, right from stones on the road to the trees to temple walls and cows, all that you see in and around Vrindavan have Radhey-Radhey written all over them. Why Radha’s name and not Krishna’s? Well to ask that question is folly itself, for Radha-Krishna are not separate!

Considered an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, Radha is Sri Krishna’s playmate, best friend, soulmate, & eternal lover: they are 2 sides of the same coin. Being the purest re

RADHA & KRISHNA

2514944467?profile=originalThe Radha-Krishna amour is a love legend of all times. It's indeed hard to miss the many legends and paintings illustrating the Radha-Krishna affair is the most memorable. Krishna's relationship with Radha, his favorite among the 'gopis' (cow-herding maidens), has served as a model for male and female love in a variety of art forms, and since the sixteenth century appears prominently as a motif in North Indian paintings. The allegorical love of Radha has found expression in some great Bengali po

The Legend of Radha-Krishna

The Legend of Radha-Krishna

The Legend of Radha-Krishna
The Legend
Young Krishna is known to be very playful and mischievous. The story goes that as a child, Krishna was extremely jealous of Radha's fair complexion since he himself was very dark.

One day, Krishna complained to his mother Yashoda about the injustice of nature which made Radha so fair and he so dark. To pacify the crying young Krishna, the doting mother asked him to go and colour Radha's face in whichever colour he wanted.
In a mischievous mood, naughty K

If Radha and Krishna aren't married, why do we worship Them together, like Sita-Rama?

Srila Prabhupada is very careful that we understand the relationship between Radha and Krishna very carefully; it's not like some mundane love affair between a young boy and young girl. There are several ways to look at it, but first we must understand this point.

Srila Prabhupada points out in one lecture, that ". . .the love between Radha and Krishna is called parakiya. They're not married as husband and wife.

We can change the world

2514944376?profile=originalBy His Holiness Kadamba Kanana Swami

Congregational preaching means Krishna consciousness for the grihastha ashram. Because many people who are involved in family life cannot directly live in the temples, we need a program to offer Krishna consciousness to those people. Since householders are the majority of the population, congregational preaching is one of the first priorities of our movement. We should develop different ways to engage people in chanting the holy name, in reading Srila Prabhupa

Thought Of The Day

Prabhupada: The knowledge should be acquired from the beginning of life, from childhood. But if by circumstances I could not get this knowledge from childhood, then we should begin immediately. Because unless we get this knowledge, our life remains imperfect. We remain animal. The animal does not know this. And after evolutionary process, coming to the human form of body, if we keep ourself in the darkness of animal life, then our this opportunity is lost. This is the first problem. Unfortunatel

365 steps towards perfection

Suppose that we invest our hard earned money in a company’s share which promises to give a very high return at the end of the year. But we find that throughout the year the market value of the share keeps depreciating and at the end of the year we have lost all our money. Next year the same company again launches a new scheme and asks us to purchase its share. How many of us would ever think of buying the share from the same company again? Probably no one because the company would have lost its
