I have it down to a daily routine. After the morning arati (service) starting at 4:30 am, known to all practitioners as the mangal (auspicious) arati, I head off to those lacrosse playing fields. I dedicate an hour or more to walking the periphery while chanting the mantra of deliverance. I watch the mist rise with the sun’s pull and hope to maybe one day spot a deer, a cute woodchuck, or even a mama bear with her cubs (they have been sited here in the past).

After the liberating trek where spo

RAM - The Poem by Bhaktimarga Swami

Ram possesses all the qualities of a superhero
Royal traits of ultimate prince, monarch, or pharaoh
Reverent to all, eager to help and listen
With a service attitude acting on what's given
His build is admirable, countenance grave
Tasks he tackles meant only for the brave
He never moves suddenly at a reckless whim
No wonder his father, the emperor, adores him
Ram is the heartthrob for many a woman
He also has a striking brother, his name, Lakshman
Of all ladies, lovely Sita won Ram in a tourna

Be Grounded by Bhaktimarga Swami

Yes, I’m still in T.O. or what rapper, Drake, calls “The Six” (six boroughs), however, my mind is all over the place.  Yes, today it gravitated to San Diego, Calgary, Ottawa, Miami, Australia, Russia, Spain—just about everywhere that a dream leads to—oh, and even the sun.

I thought of Hanuman who flew to the sun.  You might as well say I traveled ethereally to all under the sun and in one sense, to the sun as a passenger with the powerful monkey himself.   Today there was no presence of the su

Brave The Street by Bhaktimarga Swami

Jai and I decided to brave the street and walk to the dock from the ashram.  I say ‘brave’ because we were both fatigued from the previous day's hectic but sweet activities.  There were options for reaching that destination by subway, car, uber, taxi and more, but it is always my experience that energy is produced from output.  Jai and I put it out.

We made it in time to meet with Ananda Gauranga and crew, who were poised for a fire ceremony.  In this fire ceremony, four candidates were already

all glories and praises to Lord Krisna and all of His devotees !

This is a wonderful venue to collect inspiration and advice on how to lead a proper human life.   I am experiencing a dilemma which I hope others can clarify for me spiritually.

I would like to know if it is considered to be a sin and/or offense for a woman to cut her hair under the following circumstances:

I have not cut it in a very long time (probably 5-8 years), so it was getting to be a nice length but has always been very thin a

Editors’s note: Quite often, those unaware of the knowledge treasured in India’s ancient Vedic scriptures get jitters at the idea that animals can be part of celestial beings and have their place in Hindu temples. This lack of knowledge induces them to conclude that such descriptions in the Vedas and Puranas must be mythology. The reality, however, is entirely different. Animals are very much a part of every civilization. The same is true for the civilizations of celestial beings, who are seen

A gentle soul

Hare Krishna.1461269_10202471943906080_1453083083_nI met a very gentle soul while going with Srila Prabhupada around Vrindavan. She was walking beside the Palanquin. She was full of energy and almost always running in front and side of the Palanquin. After some time as she was holding the side of the Palanquin I requested her that we are all are carrying Srila Prabhupa and she should not exert herself. Her reply stumped me, she said `I just want to be close to my spiritual master'. After sometim

Lord Sri Rama

How to conquer this all-devouring sinful enemy - Lust? There is a method ... and it is a sure 100% method; and the Supreme Lord showed us this method in a wonderful way. He sent to this world, lust personified Ravana. Ravana was the most striking emblem of lust in the history of all creation.

Sita Devi is the wife of Rama. Sita is none other than an expansion of Lakshmi Devi, the goddess of fortune.

All the fortune of the world is the energy of Sita. What is fortune? Fortune does not simply mea

Preaching at Tarrawarra abbey -1

Srila Prabhupada had been invited to speak that evening at a Cistercian Monastery in the small town of Yarra Glen. In the religious house, known as Tarrawarra Abbey, lived an enclosed Roman Catholic order of monks that originated from Europe in the eleventh century. A monk who resided at the abbey, Father Daniel, had been associating with Upananda for some time and had been reading Srila Prabhupada's Bhagavad-gita As It Is. It was Father Daniel who had suggested t

Somehow Krishna's mercy we're alive. It's a kind of a miraculous thing.

Different Levels of the Spiritual World!

When we finally go to the spiritual world, it's transcendental, and then you have different levels of the spiritual world, where in the Vaikunta planets the devotees of the Lord worship Lord Narayana with awe and reverence and with great pomp, majesty and very formally. Then you go to Ayodhya where Sita, Rama, Lakshmana and Hanuman are there, where Sita-Rama are being worshipped. It is a little less formal, because Rama is playing the part of a king but is more approachable than Lord Narayana. The
