The first Janmastami festival organized by the new ISKCON management at Brooklyn’s Radha Govinda Mandir focused on improving the pilgrim experience to create lasting positive impressions for devotees and visitors alike.

To catch the interest of passersby, increase outreach and facilitate the large crowds, organizers introduced the first annual Janmastami block party. Tents, lights and seating livened up the entire sidewalk for the full length of the temple property. The

Just like we have our mother who gives birth to our material body, to whom we owe our body, we also have our Eternal Mother to whom we owe our very soul. In different religions, She is called and addressed by different names. In Vedic culture, She is addressed as Sita, Lakshmi or Radha - the consort of our Supreme Father. She is our Mother God, our Mother Supreme. The scriptures abundantly and extensively glorify This Supreme Mother - Her love, Her compassion and Her grace for all of us. A mo

So the procession portion of the Chariot Fest was over, went a bit overtime by usual standards (maybe a half hour) but it was good.  Strong kirtanhappened all the way along.  I'm the one assigned to pick and chose the lead singers. I gave the mic to the boys band, "The Mayapuris," and they just kept with it, to its sweet end at Stanley Park.  https://www.instagram.com/p/B1WSykZgBt6/?igshid=1v78dh33t8k8r

Gopal-Krishna-Goswami-maharaj-1-958x1024.jpg

Hare Krishna and pranams dear devotees,

Today I wish to write about one of the most senior and respected leader of ISKCON HH Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaj.

During my initial days I heard HH Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaj’s name often. I also had the good fortune to attend some of maharaj’s lectures at Punjabi Bagh. I was new and had no idea about Maharaj’s stature. I just knew that whenever maharaj would visit ISKCON Punjabi Bagh Temple, there was always more activity and extra enthusiasm in the de

The recent Julan Yatra for the presiding Deities of ISKCON’s New Navadvipa Mandir in Kiev, Ukraine drew somewhere between 1,000 and 1,200 devotes from all over Ukraine, Russia and Europe.

The Swing Festival, which ran from August 11th to 16th, also celebrated the Brahmotsava, or installation anniversary, of Sri Sri Radha Madhava and the first installed Deities in Kiev, Sri Sri Goura Nitai.

“The main goal of the festival was to encourage devotees in devotional service

People have so many, so many practical questions for me. Someone comes and asks, “Shall I get married?” I have one answer to that question. The answer is, “Yes!”

And then, if you come to me and say, “Shall I not get married?” I have one answer to that question as well and the answer is, “Yes!”

“Shall I go to university?” Yes!

“Shall I not go to university?” Yes!

“Shall I start a business?” Yes!

“Shall I just, you know, live very simple?” Yes!

It is all good and it does not matter. It is all “y

Sunset Speaks by Bhaktimarga Swami

There are lovers sitting on park benches and families, too people of all sorts and kinds speaking in multiple languages, Spanish, Russian, French and maybe English.  They are enjoying Stanley Park at the water's edge of English Bay.  Several of them are casually picking wild blackberries as they walk by, not initially intending to,  but upon looking, some say, "Oh!  Let me try these out."  Usually it's not just one but two, or three.  You pluck one and let it dive in your mouth.  They are soft

The Mystery of Life by Achyut Gopal Das

On 1st September, morning one of our very senior devotee from our Goa congregation, H.G. Gopanand Prabhu left his body. His life has been a glorious one, fully dedicated to practicing the principles of Krishna consciousness. Sitting near his body and chanting the Holynames in this final journey of his, I was wondering about the mystery of life. His body was appearing as if deep in sleep but this is such a sleep that one doesn't wake up from. What kind of mysterious life has God made! The body

Rajani-Priya-at-Mission-Terrace-2-300x225.jpg

Yesterday eight of us Kuntidevi, Lavanga Manjari, Nanda Kishore, Kandarpa Manjari (his wife), Gopal (their son), Srimati (their daughter), Jivan Mukta, and I visited Rajani Priya Dasi (Rose Forkash) at Mission Terrace Convalescent Hospital, where she is staying temporarily. She was as Krishna conscious as ever and told us how she is getting staff, patients, and visitors to chant Hare Krishna. She explains the philosophy behind it and gives them pieces of paper with the maha-mantra written on it

Complaints Of Love By Gauranga Darshan Das

3506606092?profile=RESIZE_710x

“Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes are most enchanting, but when His devotees narrate them,
they taste even more nectarean, being mixed with their love.”

Isn’t it ironic to see a rich man steal like a petty thief? Isn’t it even more astonishing to see him steal food, as if he were a hungry, poverty-stricken man?! What if God acts like this?

Lord Kṛṣṇa is the supreme proprietor of all the material and spiritual worlds, and is the husband of the goddess of fortune. He was the son of the king of Vṛndāvana, Nanda M

The third album proper from Srikala – once known as Srikalogy – is a major evolution musically, lyrically and personally for the artist. Released on July 16th, “Beautiful Dark Moon” is an entrancing blend of R&B, hip-hop and world music, slower, softer and with more singing than previous rap-heavy efforts Kirtan Sessions and New Paradigm. It’s also not afraid to explore vulnerable personal themes and spiritual struggle.

The title is a literal translation of the artist’s

A Soft Rain by Bhaktimarga Swami

A soft rain overnight made the day just right.  I've been resisting the lake swim, overcoming a cold.  It's hard for me because I always consider myself a water-baby.  However, there's plenty of engagement in just sitting down and listening to seminars on topics, "Guilt," and "Forgiveness," by Mahatma and Jahnava, a marvelous husband and wife team.  And it's always a delight to hear Sruti Kirti, speak about his two and half years in personal assistance to our guru, Prabhupada.  It's so sweet.

Ganesh, by Stephen Knapp

The principal scriptures dedicated to Ganesha are the Ganesha Purana, the Mudgala Purana, and the Ganapati Atharvashirsa. Brahma Purana and Brahmanda Purana are other two Puranic texts that deal with Ganesha.

Lord Ganesh is known as the son of the Shiva and Parvati, and is the god of luck and of “opening the way.” That is why many people pray to Ganesh before starting a new project, in order to proceed with as few obstacles as possible.

Ganesha became the Lord (Isha) of all existing beings (Gana

SOUL'S NEED OF PROTECTION.

Ajā kṛpāṇaka nyāyaḥ (goat and knife)

A goat came across the sacrificial knife, and considered it a good tool to scratch her neck on its sharp edge. The result was that she cut her throat, and bled to death.

There is a saying, “Curiosity killed the cat.” No sane man will fool around with dangerous. Only those, who are of same goatlike or catlike childish stupidity, will have no bar.

This show us two facts. A) Children, women, and other less self-discriminating members of the human and animal popul
