With corona virus spreading widely, everyone including world leaders are bewildered about ways to tackle the problem. Leaders themselves have fallen prey to it in some cases. This is the second article on the same topic. The first was “life insurance for covid-19 patients”. That was meant primarily for those who are suffering from the disease and may loose the battle. However the article provides a background for the current one and so all readers are recommended to read that before coming to t

Prabhupada: So similarly, soul is everywhere.

Brian Singer: And in the animal also? In the dog?

Prabhupada: Oh, yes.

Brian Singer: Yeah? And how far down in the animal world? Like you have the worm and also bacteria and the virus. Is also true?

Prabhupada: That is the difference. I have already told you that the soul is in the child, and the soul is in the body of the father, but the child’s soul is…. Or…. Soul is everywhere, but the proportionate consciousness is not developed. Just like wood.

Transcendental sound is echoing around the world. The world which is egg-shaped and hollow inside, consists of several layers. All these universes clustering together are flowing from the pores of Mahavishnu. Srila Prabhupada explains creation. Krsna expands himself in the form of Mahavishnu from whose breathing an innumerable number of universes emanate. In each of these universes, Mahavishnu enters as Garbodhakasayi Vishnu who lies on Sesa Naga on the Garbha Ocean. From his navel, Bramha is b

With the UK now about to go into its fourth week of lockdown, people who would be struggling from one week to the next during normal times are now running out of money. Many are also sick or completely isolated in their homes without any family members. In this environment, more and more community groups are calling for free meals to help those in need.

Enter devotee-run charity Food For All, which has now increased its daily distribution from 2,200 prasadam meals to 4

Before the lockdown, I never wanted to stay in the ashram throughout the day. I always wanted to go out and do programs or meet people. I always felt that I am "on the move guy" and always wanted action. Now after the lockdown period and being at ashram for quite sometime, I must confess that I have begun to love staying here. I guess once the lockdown opens, it will be difficult for me to move out. I was reflecting on how our mind functions. The situation that was not all to my liking has now

Then and Now by Bhaktimarga Swami

4429252168?profile=RESIZE_400xI managed a walk through Midland’s downtown which is under siege by a construction crew. A big dig. Perhaps water pipelines need to be replaced.

In the 1600s this place was also under siege by a certain kind of way.  At that time Jesuits from France came to the New World (North America) and to this region with the intent to preach their sermon to the local indigenous people, the Wyndad, also known as Hurons.  Unfortunately or fortunately the mission failed.  Many of the Hurons were favourable

Aim of our life is not to get free from lockdown, but from Maya.

Welcome to all of you. I’m also pleased to see all of you chanting from various places. We can see all the devotees on one screen after another. I’m also seeing you all, but you also would be seeing others. You will be experiencing that 1500 to 2000 devotees are chanting from 784 locations. This is very pleasing. This is very enlivening and inspirational news. When the Lord sees that all these devotees are chanting f

At a recent public lecture I attended the speaker was asked the above question by a respectable Muslim lady. Her full question was; given that we all believe in God, why are there so many different religions? While the speaker understood exactly what she was asking he diverted for a moment to suggest that unfortunately we do not all believe in God. Rather there is a significant and powerful lobby making extensive propaganda that Gods existence is a fallacy, a myth and that this lobby go under t

As with all temples around the world during the COVID-19 Pandemic, ISKCON Hungary’s properties in Budapest and Krishna Valley have been locked down, and devotees are staying at home. Krishna Valley is nearly self-sufficient in some foods, such as grains, flour, fruits, vegetables and honey, and devotees are working hard in the fields to increase their food production during this time and reduce trips to the store.

Meanwhile, all community programs, counselor systems, and

The conditions for a perfect stroll next to the water, first by the river Credit, then Nottawasaga Bay was laid out as our providence for today.  It was at the bay that Jivan and I were taken by the still water bearing the image a mirror.  Its surface was much like opaque aqua-hued glass with the slightest ripples at the beaches edge.  A wonder to behold.

What really came to us as waves were the geese above.  They were soaring high in the sky moving in their usual V-shaped formations, one floc

Just as the AIP reached Mahuva, a large town on the Arabian Sea coast in the Bhavnagar District of Gujarat, the Indian Government announced a three-week lockdown to inhibit the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus in the community. Initially, as people became aware that we are travelling all over India they were reluctant to provide us with anywhere to stay. The residents sa

Before formally meeting Hare Krishna devotees, I was one of those who ran in the opposite direction when I saw them coming. I used to think they were from another planet. Who are these guys with their chants and dancing in the street? Or are they going to hit me up for a donation?

But one day I had no choice, I was forced into a corner. The front door was open and a devotee knocked on the door. I had to let him in. I thought, since no one was home I will make this quick, a quick donation and ge

Srila Prabhupada’s Letter to Dr. W. H. Wolf-Rottkay, June 18, 1975:

Biological evolution is taking place on account of the soul’s desire. It takes place because of infection. If a man has smallpox virus, then he is subjected to smallpox. It is not that everyone is infected and everyone is attacked with smallpox disease. Only the person who is infected, he is attacked.

In this connection, Krishna says in the Bhagavad-gita, purusah prakrti-stho hi bhunkte prakrti-jan gunan karanam guna sango ’sya

Siberian squill -- that’s the name of it. I looked it up after I saw this wondrous ground cover that’s blanketed front and back yards. It is a type of grass with a blue flower and it was just there, suddenly, a sign of spring, and it has sprung! It’s a kind of pop-goes-the-weasel in the plant family.

I took to a trek in the Rosedale area out under the sun like so many others. I noticed the flowers everywhere—a plant pandemic of sorts.

While things look gloomy on the social side. I personally
