New Prabhupada-book in Zulu

DSC01666.JPGRecently, in South Africa, the new Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT) division there managed to print a book in Zulu, and the book was launched on a main stage during the Durban Ratha Yatra festival. BBT trustee Jayadvaita Swami introduced the book in the company of other swamis, and copies were given to enthusiastic,

Zulu-speaking children onstage. It made an impact on the largely Indian audience, who cheered and smiled.

Introduction

Vedic literatures confirm that there are 8,400,000 varieties of life. Each form is unique in itself. And the living entity transmigrates into different forms based on the stringent laws of material nature as a reaction to one’s actions. But to revolve in the cycle of transmigration in a series of these vast varieties of lives is an imprisoned life for the condemned conditioned souls. The human form of life is a chance to get out of this imprisoned life, and as such the only occupati

The blue sky.

Just like we were discussing in this beach morning about the spiritual world. Spiritual world is exactly like the material world, varieties. There is also house. There is also tree. There is also road. There is also chariot. There is... Everything is there -- but without inebriety, without inebriety. There, cintamani-prakara-sadmasu kalpa-vrksa-laksavrtesu surabhir abhipalayantam [Bs. 5.29]. For example, just like there is tree also. Cintamani-prakara-sadmasu kalpa-vrksa. But they, those trees a

The cause & solution for Envy

As long as we put Krishna in the center there cannot be envy. Envy
only happens when we put our self in the center.

Otherwise if we see someone else prospering better than us, we are
happy. We are in ecstasy. Because we are thinking Krishna must very
much enjoy seeing this person being empowered in the spiritual
setting. This person is doing such wonderful service. Krishna is
enjoying seeing this person’s service. Why should I compare myself to
that person?

Engage The Mind

lord%2Bcaitanya%2Bbegs%2Bfor%2Brice.jpg
Hare Krsna dear devotees. Here is a very beautiful prayer so the mind can engage in the proper activities related to the Lord.
O my dear mind, in order to attain the direct service of Sri Sri Radha-Giridhari, who are always entranced by amorous desires, and the service of Their eternal associates, one should drink the pancamrita described by Srila Rupa Gosvamipada. This pancamrita is ambroasial nectar comprised by the following ingredients of service:

1) Arcana, worship of Sri Yugala
2) Sankirtana,

In Bhagavad-gītā (4.11) it is said, ye yathā māḿ prapadyante tāḿs tathaiva bhajāmy aham: the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the supreme judge who rewards or punishes different persons according to their surrender unto His lotus feet. Therefore it can actually be seen that although karmīs and bhaktas may work in the same place, at the same time, with the same energy and with the same ambition, they achieve different results. The karmīs transmigra

The Solution for Everyone

Caitanya Mahaprabhu introduced the chanting of Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna,
Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare as
a great means of propaganda for spreading love of God. It is not that
it is recommended only for Kali-yuga. Actually, it is recommended for
every age. There have always been many devotees who have chanted and
reached perfection in all ages. That is the beauty of this Krsna
consciousness movement. It is not simply for one age, or for one
country, or for one class o

In human society there are various activities performed for the protection of one's wealth and life by one's words, one's mind and one's actions, but they are all performed for one's personal or extended sense gratification with reference to the body. All these activities are baffled because of being separate from devotional service. But when the same activities are performed for the satisfaction of the Lord, the beneficial results are distributed

My Material Desires

When we have material desires my advice is: Get a big box, put all the
material desires inside. Just put them all inside, close the box and
in big capital letters write on that box: "My material desires!"

Tie it up nicely, put it on the shelf and then get busy in service to
Krishna. One day when you don't have so much to do, you think: "Today
is the day that I'm going to play with my material desires!"

And you take the old box of the shelf, you look inside the box, and
what do you see?

"Half of them gon

By force you cannot.

Just like a person is diseased. He is advised by the doctor that "You shall not take such and such things." So he is starving or he is fasting. Suppose in the typhoid fever the doctor has advised him not to take any solid food. So under the instruction of the doctor, he is not taking any solid food. But suppose his brother is eating some bread. Oh, he likes that "If I could eat." That means within himself he has got the tendency for eating. But out of fear that "If I eat, there will be very bad

Visit to the temple -2

Next they showed Srila Prabhupada a small printing press that was installed in one of the small rooms out the back, and Srila Prabhupada appeared impressed. Passing the book shed, someone handed Srila Prabhupada the latest copy of Back to Godhead magazine.

They recrossed the rather sparse backyard and entered the small shop-front that had been a grocery store, at the fore of the semi-detached building next door to the temple. Mohanananda described to Srila Prabhupada how he

Thought Of The Day

Practical devotion is the secret to understanding the Sastras. My Guru Maharaja used to say that for one who is not engaged in devotional service, reading all the books is simply like licking the outside of the honey jar. One who thinks the books are the thing is content in this way. But we should learn the secret to open the jar and taste the honey. In this way, if we can simply understand one book, or one sloka, the perfection is there.

Save Yamuna Campaign

2514827373?profile=originalI think many of the devotees will agree with me that they were ignorant of Yamuna's absence in Vrindavan. Whenever we visit Sri Vrindavan Dham we make sure to go for Vrindavan Parikrama. And as we pass through the stretch overlooking Yamuna we just walk on thinking about the bad condition she is in. But never thought of the solution for the problem.

One fine day I got a SMS that a rally is being organised by Bhaktivedanta Hospital Youth Forum at Girgaum Chowpatty and I thought of checking it out
