Dealing with concerns

Dealing with concerns

As far as salvation is concerned, one has to conquer the principles of lust, anger, unlawful desires, avarice and bewilderment.

To get freedom from anger, one should learn how to forgive.

To be free from unlawful desires one should not make plans.

By spiritual culture one is able to conquer sleep.

By tolerance only can one conquer desires and avarice.

Disturbances from various diseases can be avoided by regulated diets.

By self-control one can be free from false hopes, and mon

Question and Vedic Answers

Question and Vedic Answers

Q1. Why are there many Gods in Hinduism?

A1.

No. There is only one God.

The Vedic scriptures clearly state that there is only one God, and his name is Krishna. But Krishna has many incarnations and so he is known with many names and descriptions. This is what confuses many people, including some Hindus.

Here are some quotes from the Bhagavad-Gita, which is the essence of all Vedic knowledge.

“The whole cosmic order is under me. By my will it is manifested again and again, an

What Is The Goal?

Similarly there is spiritual austerity. We voluntarily undergo some inconvenience but what is the goal? To please Krishna, and by this austerity I will make spiritual advancement. If in order to make spiritual advancement I have to make some sacrifice I should do that. After all that is the goal of life. So the strength to practice austerity comes from the process of Sravanam-Kirtanam and especially when this process is executed in the association of devotees.

The Bhagavad-Gita(Q & A)

The Bhagavad-Gita(Q & A)

What is the Bhagavad-Gita?

The Bhagavad-Gita is the divine conversation between a man named Arjuna and God himself in the human form, Lord Krishna. It is literally the word of God in person. The conversation took place in the middle of a battleground, 5000 years ago, just before the start of a great war in Kurukshetra, India.

The Bhagavad-Gita gives information regarding God (Ishwar), the living entities like you and me (the jivas), time (Kala), activities (karma), and mate

Hari Om Tatsat!

Haribol! The general religious hindus observe or worship Ganesh before doing any activity because he removes all obstacles. The Sri Vaisnavas worship Vishwakshena, and our Gaudiya vaisnavas, we worship the Guru. It says that the Guru, all the great demigods are represented by the Guru.  So Ganesh and Lord Nrsingadev, they are all in the Guru.

Guru should have the attitude of the servitor of the Lord

Don't Give Up, but Get Up!

Failures are stepping stones to success. But, in reality it becomes very
difficult for us to face repeated failures. We may face one or two
failures, but when there are setbacks in every walk of life, then we tend
to become morose and our morale goes down. We start losing hope and faith
in Lord as well.

What are we supposed to do when there are repeated setbacks in life?

While describing the rainy season in Vrindavan, Sukadev Goswami says in
Srimad Bhagavatam verse 10.20.15

Srila Prabhupada Uvaca

Prabhupada decided to restrict his weekly temple visits to Sundays. For the devotees, Sunday became the high point of the week. Sunday was the focal point of the devotees' preaching because all week they would invite people to the weekly festival and all week Tamala Krsna would consult with Prabhupada about the feast menu or the observance of various Vaisnava holidays. Prabhupada also suggested plays the devotees could perform.

When Prabhupada would arrive on Sunday, everyone would be waiting fo

Preface to Bhagavad-Gita

Wednesday, 12 May 1971

In his small apartment during the very early hours of the morning, Srila Prabhupada wrote the preface to the forthcoming edition of Bhagavad-gita As It Is. The Macmillan company had agreed to print the unabridged manuscript. The contract had been signed, the book was being prepared for printing; only the preface remained to be written.

When the Bhagavad-gita As It Is was first published, the original manuscript had been cut short to less than 400 page

Does God Exist?

Question: Does God Exist?

Dear Gurudeva,

I would like to put my question humbly. I am not a Krishna devotee, but I was introduced to the Gita by a friend. When I started reading with interest, I started asking myself a lot of questions, the first one being:  Does God exist?

And then more:

Has anyone been to heaven or hell before?
How do we know heaven and hell exist?
Why do we do puja and recite mantras? How does this help?

Isn't life about thinking positive, doing the good things, and respecting oth

Introduction

Dr Frog was a great scientist among the frogs. He had made his residence within a well. He was an expert in his field of endeavor and knew everything about the well and related matters. One day, one of his friends came to visit him and said, "My dear friend, I have seen a vast mass of water, the Atlantic Ocean."

"What is that Atlantic Ocean?" asked Dr Frog

"It is very vast" replied the other frog

"How vast is it? Is it five times bigger than this well? Or ten times?” enquired Dr Frog in

Think problems as speed bumps

Rather than labeling the issues that come up during a typical work day as problems, think of them as speed bumps (speed breakers). An actual speed bump, as you know, is a low bump in a road designed to get your attention and slow you down. Depending on how you approach and deal with the bump, it can be a miserable, uncomfortable, even damaging experience, or it can simply be a temporary slow down – no big deal.

If you step on the gas, speed up, and tighten the wheel, for example, you’ll hit the b

In life, we have essentially two psychological modes that we are in most of the time: reactive and responsive. The reactive mode is the one that feels stressful. In it, we feel pressured and are quick to judge. We lose perspective and take things personally. We’re annoyed, bothered, and frustrated.

Needless to say, our judgment and decision making capacity is severely impaired when we are in a reactive state of mind. We make quick decisions that we often regret. We annoy other people and tend to
