Due to being conditioned by the external energy, the conditioned soul within this material world gets two kinds of bodies -- a gross material body and a subtle material body composed of mind, intelligence and ego. Due to the gross and subtle bodies, he is subjected to the threefold miseries (adhyatmika, adhibhautika and adhidaivika), miseries arising from the body and mind, other living entities and natural disturbances caused by demigods from higher planetary systems.

You have asked some specific mantra; there is no other greater mantra than Hare Krsna. Srila Bhaktivinode says, "When I chant Radha Krsna or Hare Krsna all my dangers are gone immediately." So which other mantra can be more effective than Hare Krsna?

Srila Prabhupada and his entourage squeezed into a taxi for another long drive to ATN Seven studios in Epping; a few other devotees joined them on-site.

Caru: We had to sit in the waiting room for a while before going on. Meanwhile, a wall-mounted television m

Wonderful Lila

Hare Krsna,
When Gour Govinda Swami became a sannyasi, he left his home, his wife and seven children. He was 45 years old and his children were still young. After he left, his wife and children were in great difficulty to maintain their lives. Because he had been teaching in a school, he was entitled to receive a pension. The government told his wife, “If your husband will sign a document, you can receive his pension. All he has to do is sign this paper.” One government minister came to him when

Thought Of the Day

A materialistic person is captivated by so many objects of sense gratification. That is his prison house. The state laws, if you are criminal, they put him into the jail. But natures law is such that you dont require... Your senses will keep you intact in jail. You dont require to be handcuffed. The senses are so strong that it will keep you in this material world.(Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.15.40).

Sri Krsna's Vrindavan Associates - Subala

The names of the twelve most important cowherd boys are Sridama, Sudama, Vasudama, Subala, Mahabala, Subahu, Mahabahu, Stokakrsna, Dama, Arjuna, Lavanga, and Kusumasava. How Sri Krsna's confidential friends are categorized is presented variously in different sastra. As described in Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur's Jaiva-dharma:

"Because of their very confidential friendship, their behaviour is only on the basis of pure friendship. Some confidential friends are as follows: Sridama, Sudama, Dama, Vasud

Lord Chaitanya's Grace

Lord Chaitanya's Grace

God  is known by the Vedic Revelation

As the mundane world is subjected to the control of phenomenal time and space, everything that exists in this world is apparent and relative. Similarly, the worldly truth also is relative and apparent. Since the Spirit transcends the limits of time and space, the spiritual reality is absolute and eternal. The Vedic scriptures reveal about the knowledge about the Absolute Reality. They explain about the eternal Name, eternal Form, eternal

RASA

Bhakti Rasa Is a Mellow

"Bhakti means devotional service. Every service has some attractive feature which drives the servitor progressively on and on. Everyone of us within this world is perpetually  engaged in some sort of service, and the impetus for such service is the pleasure we derive from it" (NOD). "Every living entity, beginning from Brahma, the first living entity  within the material world, down to the insignificant ant, desires to relish some taste derived from sense perception. Thes

This Is Vrindavana

Excerpted from a discussion on Brahma-vimohana-lila by Swami B.V. Tripurari

“Prabhupada turned to me a third time and said, 'Did you see it?' This time I replied, 'Yes I saw it.' And I thought, 'I'm seeing you, and this is Vrindavana. Wherever you are, that is Vrindavana. Wherever you look, that is Vrindavana. You have the kind of vision that can harmonize all things.”

Seeing the cows and elderly cowherds rush to greet their calves and sons, Balarama was concerned that the very essence of Vrindava

Prayers offered by Lord Bramha to Krishna

Brahma said, "My dear Lord, You are the only worshipful Supreme Lord, Personality of Godhead; therefore I am offering my humble obeisances and prayers just to please You. Your bodily features are of the color of clouds filled with water. You are glittering with a silver electric aura emanating from Your yellow garments.

"Let me offer my respectful repeated obeisances unto the son of Maharaja Nanda who is standing before me with conchshell, earrings and peacock feather on His head. His face is bea

Serving Radha & Krsna with love

Summary: atmendriya-priti-vanchatare bali `kama' krsnendriya-priti-iccha dhare `prema' nama

"The desire to gratify one's own senses is kama [lust], but the desire to please the senses of Lord Krishna is prema [love]." (Caitanya Caritamrta Adi 4.165)

Here priti is the common factor to the two definitions: lust and love. In the verse Prabhupada translates priti as "to please", yet throughout his books priti is related to the principle of love, and technically equated

Prayers Glorifying the Lord’s Pastimes in Vraja

The highwaymen lust, greed and anger have captured me and bound me with the ropes of the desire for fame. I pray that the heroic devotees of Lord Krishna, the enemy of the Agha demon, may defeat my captors and cut the ropes that bind me.

I am scorched by the blazing forest fire of old age, deeply bitten by the poisonous snake of blindness, pierced by the sharp arrows of forced dependence on others,

Our sankirtana - tainted with "BLOOD OF SLAUGHTER!"

2514831114?profile=original

I remember, in my first few days in ISKCON, I had asked someone about how mrdangas were made and where were they made.  Clearly, I was not satisfied  with the answer and always thought, one fine day, I will get into the  details. Surely enough, I now know, our performance of sankirtan all over  the world is tainted with the blood of slaughter!

DIGESTING THE FACT:

Navadwip to Mayapur via boat crossing Ganga is a beautiful short trip.  My  recen

From HH Indradyumna Swami's facebook wall :

Into the Townships (April 15)

Tomorrow we will be taking a group of devotees to do harinama and prasadam  distribution in nearby Zululand.

Shanty Town Kirtan (April 18)

Yesterday we distributed prasadam and had harinama through one of South  Africa's worst ghettos. Rife with crime and steeped in poverty, the  atmosphere in the dilapidated shanty town was miserable. But as we wove our  way through the tiny streets an

May 24, 2011  By Meera Vasudevan (famous South Indian actress)

This article was featured on Deccan Chronicle, a major newspaper in Southern India on May 24

Recently, I discovered that saying a simple prayer, reading a few shlokas from The Bhagavad Gita As It Is by Srila Prabhupada, lighting diyas at the altar with some agarbattis and chanting my favourite Hare Krishna maha mantra or attending Sunday mass at the Church have had a deeply calming and soothing effect on me.

At first, I did this purely
