Who was she in her previous birth? What family did she come from? And what austerities did she perform to get You as her husband--You, who are above the material energy, not subject to change, the Cosmic Self, the Supreme God, the Lord of all, omniscient, the cause of all, omnipresent, container and preserver of all. Is bhakti predestined?

Question: Was it destined when I was born that I would one day become
associated with ISKCON and do all these spiritual activities? If yes,
then why do we preach? Won’t people destined to join ISKCON join it,
and those not destined to join ISKCON not join it? If no, then does it
mean that joining ISKCON is outside the influence of destiny?

Answer: Bhakti is supreme, causeless and fully independent - no
material cause can either induce or impede bhakti from appearing in
one’s heart. Srila Visvanatha Cak

He spoke kindly to his senior disciples who continued to render him so much service.Citralekha had taken the opportunity of briefly placing Saumya's head on Prabhupada's feet at his morning arrival. Now, Prabhupada asked Citralekha to bring the boy closer. He affectionately patted the baby o

Srimate Bhaktivedanta Swamin iti namine
Namas te Sarasvate deve Gaura-vani-pracarine

In Krishna-lila, we find that various pure devotees enjoy different relationships with Krishna. Thus among the servants of Mahaprabhu, some are bo

Back in 1971 I was blessed with the opportunity to surrender myself as a disciple at the lotus feet of that greatest of all spiritual masters, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. After careful study and due consideration I realized that this was the greatest opportunity I had ever been blessed with in millions of lifetimes and I happily agreed to become his disciple. In those days I learned from his disciples how to sing a beautiful song early every morning in his honor. That s

Thought Of The Day

Hare Krishna Radha-Krishna. Radha’s name is first. Why ? Nobody can be better devotee than Radharani. As soon as Radha’s name is there, Krishna is more pleased. That is the way. If we glorify the devotees, the character of the devotees, before the Lord, He is more pleased than to glorify Himself, He directly.(Converstions, Hawaii, 24th Apr, 1969). -By H.D.G. Govinda dasi on Srila Prabhupada

Posted on August 23, 2011Filed under BVKS SangaSometimes I would think, “Who is he? Nobody knows who he really is or wherehe really came from or how great he really is.” Especially in Boston I beganto feel very strongly that he was such a great personality and that I wasviewing only a very, very minute glimpse of him, and that actually much, much more was going on than I could realize.from Srila Prabhupada-lila 7-3: A Visit to Boston, 1968

Compassionate Liberated Souls

The human society is presently 5,000 years into the Kali Yuga, the Age of Quarrel and Hypocrisy. At the present time it is completely engulfed by cheating and lying. The worst cheaters are those who pose themselves to be honest well-wishing friends and then take advantage of the trust placed in them for exploiting those they pretend to befriend.

Because of this wide-scale cheating epidemic it has become very common for people to adopt the philosophy of skepticism and not trust anyone. Being tir

Morning activities

It had become a habit that Srila Prabhupada and his entourage would travel quite lightly. All the items Srila Prabhupada required would easily fit into a couple of suitcases along with Prabhupada's four or five sets of clothes, a couple of sweaters, Prabhupada's cooker and most of Srutakirti's belongings.

Srutakirti set about quickly unpacking Srila Prabhupada's bags. He placed Prabhupada's pen and his tilaka set on his low desk along with his compact mirror used when Prabhupada
