Kheerchora Gopinath

Hare Krishna to all!!!
I begin to present here a collection of stories of deities of Sri Krishna and his various forms scattered across India.I hope with the blessings of Srimati Radharani & Sri Krishna I am able to carry this forward long enough.I will try to come up with new story every week.
Here I present the story of kheer-chora deity, worshipped in West Bengal. It goes like this
The temple priest had to go out of town for some work
And left the temple duties to his son.Next morning the kid served out the bhoga to the deity.
The kid out of his simple heartedness was sad when the deity was not
eating the bhoga which he had laid in front of the lord.
So he scolded Krishna..and with a cane in his hand ordered the deity of Gopala to
finish the meal at once. So Kanha out of his mercifulness finished the meal in no time.
When he reported this event to his mother she got angry on his son for
telling a lie.So she asked his husband to check on this while his son served the meal.
And as usual the son was standing with a cane in his hand while waiting for
lord to finish the meal and Kanhaji was eating the kheer with great delight.
So the father leaped out of the side stealthily and in an attempt to catch hold of the
lord's hand, the kheer spilled over and the they got burnt.Till this date deity there are burn marks on the hand of the deity. And thus the name of deity kheer chora in bengali, meaning one who steals the kheer.
