I was shocked to learn this morning that my old friend and colleague Gopiparanadhana Prabhu had left his body suddenly at Govardhana. Just a few days ago I sent him a chapter of his Laghu-bhagavatamrta translation I had been reviewing — and now he’s gone. What a loss for our Society and the world! He was a pure and vastly learned Vaisnava who impressed everyone with his firm faith in and loyalty to Srila Prabhupada and his movement, his genuine humility, his warm and open personality, and hi

Another Honorable Spiritual Son of Srila Prabhupada is no longer among us.

There is reciprocal love between Srila Prabhupada's disciples and their eternal spiritual father. This love is demonstrated in various ways. In one case it is demonstrated with service to Srila Prabhupada until the last day. By constantly preaching, mentoring, writing all the while maintaining sadhana and renunciation. Such is the  love of Gopiparanadhana Prabhu.

There is sometimes a misconception that a bunch of hipp

2514845297?profile=originalI first met Gopiparanadhana Prabhu in 1979 in LA. We spent time together here in Bangalore from 1981-83 while he was working on the translation of the rest of the Bhagavatam. Over the years we had a nice friendship. He didn’t have a mean bone in his whole body and was incapable of offending any one; he had such humility and kindness in him.

Ironically today my wife and I had lunch at a devotee friend’s house. We had recommended that they read the Brhad Bhagavatamrta translated by Gopiparanadhana

Maharaja explained how even though HG Gopipranadhana Prabhu was the most super-excellent scholar, he was the most humble person, always ready to offer ALL respects to every devotee and NOT expecting and honor from anyone. These are just some of his wonderful Vaishnava character.

Maharaja lamented how, IS

My dear godbrother Gopipranadana Prabhu,

Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Let start by offering my obeisances to him. Srila Prabhupada said that living and dying in the dham is the same. He left from Govardhan and went back to Spiritual world. His destination is auspicious. Of this we can rejoice. At the same time loosing him suddenly like this leaves us in separation and is a big lost. My last meeting with him was in the month of April 2011 at Vrinda Kunda.

Introduction

One has to make association with devotees. Satam prasangad mama virya-samvido. One can understand about God only in association of devotees. Love the Krishna’s way

Krishna’s way of loving is different. Krishna’s love is eternal, its unlimited, it’s unbounded and it is unexplainable. Love to him and love for him is governed by your clear heart. The clearer your heart is, the near he is to you. If your mind if full of dirt and garbage, how can you feel his love. A clean heart is the criterion.

If you remember the famous incident of the Mahabharata, where Draupadi was insulted in front of the whole kingdom of Kauravas during Mahabharata (Incident of Cheerharan

Jesus Christ Was a Guru

Srila Prabhupada recognizes Lord Jesus Christ as "the son of God, the representative of God... our guru... our spiritual master," yet he has some sharp words for those who currently claim to be Christ's followers...

The Srimad-Bhagavatam states that any bona fide preacher of God consciousness must have the qualities of titiksa (tolerance) and karuna (compassion). In the character of Lord Jesus Christ we find both these qualities. He was so tolerant that even while he was being crucified, he didn'

Perfect Questions, Perfect Answers

Discussions between Peace Corps Worker Bob Cohen and His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
These excerpts deal with the personality of Lord Jesus Christ

Bob: Prabhupada, people that engage in religions, like these "Jesus freaks" and other people, claim that Jesus is guiding them. Can this be so?
Srila Prabhupada: Yes, but they are not taking the guidance. Just like the Christians. Jesus is guiding them, "Thou shalt not kill," but they are killing. Where is the Jesus guidance? Simpl

Conversation with Cardinal Danielou

"Thou Shalt Not Kill" or "Thou Shalt Not Murder"?
At a monastic retreat near Paris, in July of 1973, Srila Prabhupada talked with Cardinal Jean Danielou: "... the Bible does not simply say, `Do not kill the human being.' It says broadly, `Thou shalt not kill.'... why do you interpret this to suit your own convenience?"

Srila Prabhupada: Jesus Christ said, "Thou shalt not kill." So why is it that the Christian people are engaged in animal killing?
Cardinal Danielou: Certainly in Christianity it is f

Conversation with Father Emmanuel

In 1974, near ISKCON's center in Frankfurt am Main, West Germany, Srila Prabhupada and several of his disciples took a morning walk with father Emmanuel Jungclaussen, a Benedictine monk from Niederalteich Monastery. Noticing that Srila Prabhupada was carrying meditation beads similar to the rosary, Father Emmanuel explained that he also chanted a constant prayer: "Lord Jesus Christ, be merciful unto us." The following conversation ensued.

Srila Prabhupada: What is the meaning of the word Christ?

Krishna and Jesus Christ

jesusandkrsna1.jpgMany people often wonder what is the view of Lord Jesus Christ in the Krishna consciousness movement.

Remembering Srila Prabhupada - LSD

LSD

Srila Prabhupada relaxed in his room as the afternoon Sunday feast program commenced downstairs. A sample plate of the feast had been offered to Prabhupada, who tasted morsels of each preparation, talking lightly between bites.

"The Rama Krsna mission is popular in Bengal because it does not restrict -- 'Whatever you like, you can eat,' -- but our mission does not say that. "Formerly, Allen Ginsberg [Prabhupada pronounced it as "Jinsberg"] was very frequently coming to me. And, he could unders
