What is Yoga Siddhi?

1.  Karma, Jnana, Dhyana and Bhakti all are attached to the word Yoga so what is Yoga Siddhi?

Siddhis (Perfection stage of Karma, Jnana, Dhyana & Bhakti)

Yoga Siddhi is a general term but generally understood and referred by the populace is in terms of Dhyana Siddhi.

Yoga Siddhi also means Karma Siddhi

Yoga Siddhi also means Jnana Siddhi

Yoga Siddhi also means Dhyan Siddhi

Yoga Siddhi also means Bhakti Siddhi

Karma Siddhi - Mukti via 4 kinds of liberation (but limited to Pramatma realization)

Jnana Siddhi – Limited to Brahman Realization however the siddhi is though known as Bhrama Siddhi Mahaprabhu says Brahma Siddhi in actual means realizing all the three aspects of Supreme via Brahman, Paramatama and Bhagavan as shown by Kapila Dev in his Sankhya Philosophy.

Whether one is without desire (akama) or with desire (sakama), or whether one desires liberation (moksa-kama), he is advised to worship the Supreme Lord and execute devotional service unto Him.

Six types of Liberation

  1. 1. sayujya, merging with the body of the Lord (means merging into the Brahman effulgence of the Lord.) – SB-1.9.40
  2. 2. salokya, -residing on the same spiritual planet as the Lord (means that after material liberation one is promoted to the planet where the Supreme Personality of Godhead resides) -SB -2.7.49
  3. 3. sarupya, (means attaining a four-handed form exactly like that of the Lord.) – SB – 2.7.49
  4. 4. sarsti and (means attaining opulences like those of the Supreme Lord,) -SB – 2.7.49
  5. 5. samipya (means remaining an associate of the Supreme Personality of Godhead) -SB – 2.7.49
  6. 6. vimukti (Special mukti) -When after liberation one is situated on the platform of prema-bhakti, one is said to have achieved vimukti, “special mukti.” – SB -4.8.61, SB -10.9.20

The Karmakandiya Moksha are of 4 types Salokya Sarupya, Sarsti, Samipya as this is limited only up to Aisvarya rasa as these siddhis lack Madhurya Rasa

One important point that needs to be observed here is in Vaikunata every body looks like the lord and the that which differenciats the Looks of the Lord from the Lords Looks is the srivasta mark and Kustumba jewel which only the Lord is owner of.

The type of siddhi Sayujya is temporary attained by the Jnanis

Yoga Siddhi also means Dhyana Siddhi - anima-siddhi, laghima-siddhi, mahima-siddhi, prapti-siddhi, vasita-siddhi, isita-siddhi,prakamya Siddhi.

Therefore when questioned on Yoga siddhi Prabhupada observing and understanding the persons question answers based on who is asking and what he wants to know. Generally if you observe people question and undersands yoga siddhi only in terms of dhyana siddhi as anima, lagima attained via following yama niyam. At places he also mentions of siddhaloka were every one has yoga-siddhi this yoga siddhi is in reference to dhyana siddhi as anima, lagima attained via following yama niyam.

yama - anima-siddhi

niyama - laghima-siddhi

asana - mahima-siddhi

pranayama - prapti-siddhi

pratyahara - vasita-siddhi

dharana - isita-siddhi

dhyana - prakamya Siddhi

Samadhi – Kamavasayita- Siddhi

Conclusion

Bhakti Siddhi also means Yoga Siddhi – Going Back Home Back to Godhead Goloka Vrindavana

The Vimukti Siddhi is the sole property of the pure devotees of the Lord enjoyed in Madhurya rasa in Bhagavan Relization.

Out of all kinds of perfections attained by the process of knowledge, yoga perfection in devotional service is the highest of all and the most mysterious also, even more mysterious than the eight kinds of mystic perfection attained by the process of yogic performances.

Smartavyah satatam visnuh. This is the injunction. You have to think of Visnu always. This is samadhi; this is meditation; this is yoga siddhi, perfection of yoga.

AIM of Knowledge/jnana is to understand the problems of Material Life to begin with and the Problems in spiritual life to end with.

Problems of Material Life is Janma, Mrityu, Jara, Vyadhi

Problems in Spiritual Life is Anarthas & Aparadhas, maintaining hrdya durbalyam (weakness of heart) & asat trsna (material desires).

To overcome the Material problems we need to lead a sinless life holding to the holy name and simultaneously following the Process of self Realization and being obedient to instructions of Guru Sadhu Sastra

To avoid problems in spiritual life we need to be Humble, Meek Simple and Sincere also obedient Guru & Gauranga & the Pure Vaisnavas via instructions, orders and follow strictly the prohibitions in spiritual life.

So our this Krsna consciousness philosophy is like that, that we simply want to serve Krsna. We have no other desire, no mukti, no bhukti, no siddhi. That is real siddhi. That is real siddhi. So people do not know that real siddhi is to approach to go back to home, back to Godhead. And either you go to Vaikuntha or to Goloka Vrndavana planet after giving up this body, tyaktva deham punar janma naiti mam eti [Bg. 4.9], that is real siddhi, not this yoga-siddhi, jnana-siddhi, karma-siddhi. That is not siddhi. Therefore Krsna says, manusyanam sahasresu kascid yatati [Bg. 7.3]. They do not know what is siddhi. That is the defect.

Even you want jnana-siddhi, yoga-siddhi, karma-siddhi, or dhyana-siddhi, simply go to Krsna. That’s all. Yat karosi, yaj juhosi.

There are many Spiritual Processes Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Dhyana Yoga and Bhakti Yoga

Karma Yoga =devotional service in karma

Jnana Yoga = devotional service in Jnana

Dhyana = devotional service in Dhyana

Bhakti =devotional service in Bhakti

Spiritual Process in Karma Yoga is following via Dharma Artha Kama Moksha (Perfection takes countless births very slow due to it being based only on regulative Principle )

Spiritual Process in Jnana Yoga is following via Philosphical speculation through 24 elements of Sankhya – Brhaman, Parmatma and Bhagavan (Very troublesome due to it being the ascending process if not followed as taught by the teacher Kapila)

Spiritual Process in Dhyana Yoga is following via yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, etc. (Very tedious due to it being Based on bodily exercise )

Spiritual Process in Bhakti Yoga is following via sravanam kirtanam visnoh smaranam pada-sevanam

arcanam vandanam dasyam sakhyam atma-nivedanam (Very easy and immediately why because Krsna favors these entities therefore there is bonus/incentives in following this process due to it being descending process that includes regulation and favor)

This process of devotional service is so sublime, so simple, so direct and so profound. We have only to abide strictly by the instructions, to have full faith in the chanting of the holy name.

Spiritual Process in Bhakti Yoga is following via Bhagavan Relization

The best process of devotional service is to hear, chant, worship, glorify and meditate with faith on the names, forms, qualities and pastimes of Krsna in the association of the devotees of Krsna through the nine forms of bhakti.

Spiritual Process in Dhyana Yoga is following via Paramatma Relization

The beginning of yoga system means you have to control your senses. This is the first beginning. It is not a play thing, that you do all nonsense and you become a yogi. No. These things are very clearly explained in the Bhagavad-gita. You have to regulate your life. You have to stop sex life. You have to eat certain procedure. You have to sit under certain procedure. In this way, you have to follow so many regulative principles. That is called yama. And niyama. Niyama means regulative principles. Yama means controlling the senses. Yama, niyama. Then asana. Then sitting posture. Generally, in these yoga societies in your country, they give some lesson on the sitting posture, and people become captivated that he is practicing yoga. No. First one has to follow regulative principles and control the senses, then practice the sitting postures. Yama, niyama, asana, pranayama. And when your sitting posture is correct, then you can exercise breathing. Exercise. Breathing exercise means the nostril which is stopped breathing. You have to press that side and try to breathe from the other side. In this way, breathing exercise.Yama, niyama, asana, pranayama. This is called pranayama.

Then dharana, meditation. And what is that meditation? That meditation… Here it is recommended, tad-vicestitam: “meditation on the activities of the Supreme Lord.”

Spiritual Process in Jnana Yoga is following via Brahman Relization

By different processes of philosophical research under different concepts, such as the process of jnana-yoga, the same Bhagavan, or Supreme Personality of Godhead, is understood as impersonal Brahman. Similarly, by the eightfold yoga system He appears as the Paramatma. But in pure Krsna consciousness, or knowledge in purity, when one tries to understand the Absolute Truth, one realizes Him as the Supreme Person. The Transcendence is realized simply on the basis of knowledge.

Jnana process of knowledge is ‘the ascending process.’ That process is defective, because it always leaves some doubt. All your so-called knowledge is based on this defective principle.”

I felt elated. Of course! I recalled the philosophy texts. It was the “Problem of Induction”! Suppose I want to find out whether all robins are red-breasted, and I examine n number of robins (n can be any great number, even a million). My premises and conclusions proceed something like this:

1. Robin 1 has a red breast.

2. Robin 2 has a red breast.

3. Robin 3 has a red breast.

4. Robin n has a red breast.

Therefore, all robins are red-breasted. Yet, although all my premises are true, the conclusion can still be false, for there is no guarantee that “robin n + 1″ won’t have a blue or green breast. Only if I examine every single robin can my conclusion be guaranteed. Of course, this test is impossible; the inductive process can never give me absolute certainty that all robins have a red breast. And, consequently, all experimental generalizations, all scientific “laws” — indeed, the entire body of mundane knowledge, which rests inevitably on the inductive process — is doubtful.

Spiritual Process in Karma Yoga is following via Varnasrama Dharma

It is the duty of the guardians of children to revive the divine consciousness dormant in them. The ten processes of reformatory ceremonies as enjoined in the Manu-Smriti, which is the guide to religious principles, are meant for reviving God consciousness in the system of Varna Ashram. Nothing is strictly followed now in any part of the world and therefore 99.9 percent populations are Naradhama.

Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, in the mode of propagating the ‘Bhagwat Dharma’ or the activities of the devotees, has recommended people to hear submissively the message of the Personality of Godhead. The primary book of this message is the Bhagwat Geeta. He can deliver the lowest of the human being by this submissive hearing process only but unfortunately they deny to give even an aural reception to these messages and what to speak of surrendering to the will of the Supreme Lord.

Naradhama or the lowest of the mankind makes a willful negligence of the duty of human being.

Observation

Karma Yoga perfection achieved through Utility is the Priciple

Jnana Yoga perfection achieved through Books are the Basis Principle

Dhyana Yoga perfection is achieved through Purity is the force Principle

Bhakti Yoga perfection is achieved by achar and prachar through Preaching is the essence.

Srila Prabhupada propagated all the above 4 principles but specifically Utility is the Principle (Utility is the Priciple, Books are the Basis,Purity is the force & Preaching is the essence)

Bhakti Siddhanta Sarasvati focused specifically on Books are the Basis targeting the nirvesha (Impersonalists) and sunyavadis (Voidist) Prabhupada Pranam Mantra proves this.

Gaura Kishora Das Babaji Maharaj focused specifically on Purity is the force (Mediation)

Bhakti Vinoda Thakura focused on specifically Preaching is the essence

People who perfected in the 4 yoga system

Janak Maharaj (Sarva Dharma Shiromani) – Karma Yoga

Jnana Yoga – Devahuti

Lord Kapiladev appeared as the Son of Devahuti, and in the absence of Kardamuni, the father of Lord Kapiladev, the Divine Son instructed His mother, Devahuti, and she got elevated to the transcendental position.

yoga-isvara-isvarah — the master of all masters of yoga- Krishna

Master of yoga Lord Shiva

Dhyana Yoga – Four KumarasThe four Kumaras are described herein as siddhesvaran, which means “masters of all mystic power.”

Kardama Muni attained the perfection of meditation, but that is not possible in this age of Kali

Dhritarashtra perfected the process of astanga-yoga, a mystic fire burnt his old, useless body to ashes

gopis are superior to the masters of yoga.

Tapoloka is the planet of the greatest masters of yoga, who have completely controlled their sex urge.

In previous ages many yogis were able to perfect the process of astanga-yoga. In fact, Saubhari Muni himself, after exhausting his desire for material enjoyment, completely renounced the life of sensual pleasure, returned to his meditation, and attained perfection. In the present age, however, astanga-yoga is more or less impossible, and the Vedic literature recommends instead the path of bhakti-yoga, devotional service.

Ages ago, Saubhari Muni was so accomplished at yoga that he could meditate underwater. Everything was going fine, until . . .

There are many but to name a few Bhakti – yoga following the 9 process of devitional service give by Prahalad Maharaj – Maharaj Ambarish perfected it. Bhakti – yoga following the 11 process of devitional service give by Narada Muni – Parakshit Maharaj perfected it.

Maharaja Ambarisa, attained perfection in devotional service by executing all the items of devotional service, while many others attained perfection by discharging the duties of only one item. Some of them are Maharaja Pariksit, who was liberated and fully perfected simply by hearing; Sukadeva Gosvami, who became liberated and attained perfection in devotional service simply by chanting; Prahlada Maharaja, who attained perfection by remembering; Laksmi, who attained perfection by serving the lotus feet of the Lord; King Prthu, who attained perfection simply by worshiping; Akrura, who attained perfection simply by praying; Hanuman, who attained perfection simply by becoming the servant of Lord Rama; Arjuna, who attained perfection simply by being a friend of Krsna’s; and Bali Maharaja, who attained perfection simply by offering whatever he had in his possession.

Prahlada Maharaja said that no one can attain the perfectional stage of devotional service without bowing down before exalted devotees. Learned sages like Markandeya Rsi attained perfection in devotional service simply by executing such regulative principles of service.

A person’s achieving perfection in devotional service simply by the causeless mercy of the Lord is explained in Srimad-Bhagavatam in connection with the brahmanas and their wives who were engaged in performing yajna, or sacrifice.

Of these sixty-four limbs, some are connected with physical application, others with the senses and still others with the inner self. However, the essential principle is to bring body, senses and mind under control in devotional service to Krsna. This constitutes vaidhi-bhakti, regulative devotional service. There are instances where devotees attained perfection in bhakti-yoga simply by practising any one of these limbs, and, on the other hand, by applying many of them together.

Haridas Thakura by Chanting the Holy Name – Mahaprabhu named Him Namacharya this proves that nama is complete in itself.

Different process of Knowlegde via Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Dhyana Yoga & Bhakti Yoga

Principle Book of Knowledge Vedas

For advanced education there are various kinds of books of knowledge, such as the four Vedas, their six supplements, the Vedanta-sutra, books of logic, books of religiosity and the Puranas. So all together there are fourteen divisions of books of education. Of these, the book which presents adhyatma-vidya, spiritual knowledge — in particular, the Vedanta-sutra — represents Krsna.

Principle book of Karma Yoga is Dharma Shastras

Principle Book of Jnana Yoga is Vedanta Sutra

Principle Book of Dhyana Yoga is Yoga Sutras

Principle Book of Bhakti Yoga is Nectar of Devotion (THE LAW BOOK OF Krsna Conciousness)

Principle Books given By Srila Prabhupada (most important revealed scriptures BG, SB, TLC, NOB& CC)

Dharma Sastra – Bhagavat Gita (Dharmam tu saksad Bhagavat Paranitam – Sarva Dharman Parityaja)

Vedanta Sutra  - Srimand Bhagavatam

Bhakti Sastra – Chaitanya Charitamrita

Srimad-Bhagavatam is the natural supplementary commentary on the Vedanta-sutras.
