We understand from Bhagavad gita that the aim of all the Vedas is to understand the Supreme Lord (vedais ca sarvair aham eva vedyah). So studying scriptures is one of the imporant activities in devotional service and in any path of spiritual realization. However, when we make an academic study of the Vedas without focus on the Supreme Lord, then

I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels.
My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, 'This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received.' I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheet

In the present age, a Bhakta can easily attain *Mukti* ( salvation) by just doing Nama-Japam. What Maharishis achieved by *Tapas* ( penance) in previous ages, can easily be attained now by very simple *Nama-Japam*. All what we require is complete faith in Bhagavan Sri Krishna and a commitment to chant His Names constantly .
The power of *Nama-Japam* is infinite. Like fire, it burns all your sins. The Bhakta who performs
“There is no difference between the energy and the energetic in regard to the Lord’s appearance as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and His four associates — Nityananda Prabhu, Advaita Prabhu, Gadadhara, and Srivasa. Amongst these five diverse manifestations of the Supreme Lord (as the Lord Himself and His incarnation, expansion and energies) there is no spiritual difference. They are five in one Absolute Truth. For the sake of relishing transcendental flavors in the Absolute Truth, ther
A ticket collector in a train found an old worn out wallet in a compartment full of many people. He looked inside to find the name of its owner. There was no clue. All that there was in it, was some money and a picture of Bhagwan Sri Krishna. He held it up and asked,
'Who does this wallet belong to?'
An old man said, 'That's my wallet, please give it to me.' The ticket-collector said,
'You'll have to prove that it is yours. Only then I can hand it over to you.'
The old man smiled

So any field of activities, if we act for Krsna, that is called yajna. Yajna means to act for the satisfaction of the Supreme Personality of Godhead or the supreme authority. Just like a good citizen. A good citizen means who is acting exactly to the regulative laws. He is good citizen. Even in ordinary driving car, if you exactly follow the rules and regulation of traffic transaction, if you stop when there is red light, if you start when there is green light, you don't go to the left, if you f

The senses are so strong and impetuous, O Arjuna, that they forcibly carry away the mind even of a man of discrimination who is endeavoring to control them.
Victims of senses
There are many learned sages, philosophers and transcendentalists who try to conquer the senses, but in spite of their endeavors, even the greatest of them sometimes fall victim to material sense enjoyment due to the agitat

A devotee who is always in Krsna consciousness, for him there is nothing unknown. He knows everything. Just like we can give information of the whole creation. Not only of this material world, of the spiritual world. Clear conception. Where is where, what is what, everything. That is Krsna consciousness. The more you make progress, then you fully, I mean to say, conversant with all departmental knowledge. Everything is completed. >>> Ref. VedaBase => Bhagavad-gita 2.46-

Today is one of the most memorable days especially for the disciples of H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj, as they celebrated his 84th Vyasa puja in Rajkot with full enthusiasm. Having personally witnessed the glorious event, I will attempt to share a bit of my experience of it.
First of all, Maharaja has been faced with bad health for the last few days

Here is an excerpt from the Prabhupada Lilamrta about Srila Prabhupada's mother, Srimati Rajani Devi.
Abhay’s mother, Rajani, was thirty years old when he was born. Like her husband, she came from a long-established Gaudiya Vaisnava family. She was darker-skinned than her husband, and whereas his disposition was cool, hers tended to be fiery. Abhay saw his mother and father living together peacefully; no deep marital conflict or complicated dissatisfaction ever threatened home. Rajani was chaste

In one of his recent lectures in Rajkot, Maharaja was making a very important point. He said, "Many times we do not know how to pray to Krishna. We may have lot of things to ask Krishna, but we should approach the Lord with the proper mood. This we can learn from Srimad Bhagavatam where so many devotees offer their prayers to the Lord. So, we should not only c

One has to be intelligent to understand real happiness; one who cannot, seeks happiness in this material world. A man did not know what sugarcane was and was told that it was very sweet to chew. "Oh, what does it look like?" he asked. "It looks just like a bamboo rod," someone said. So the foolish man began to chew all kinds of bamboo rods. How can he experience the sweetness? Similarly, we are trying to get happiness a
