Thought Of The Day

Guru is very confidential servant of Krsna. Why confidential servant? Because he is canvassing door to door, "Please become Krsna conscious. Please surrender to Krsna." Krsna says to Arjuna, sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja [Bg. 18.66], and guru takes that very mission, but does not say like Krsna, that "Your surrender to me." He says, "Surrender to Krsna." One has to surrender to Krsna through the via media of guru, directly. This is the process. Therefore guru accepts respects f

Report from Malawi

Malawi, in Africa, is a place where very few have heard of Krsna. But there are many people here who are always ready to buy the books, and as soon as they look at them, they say how beautiful they are.

Once I went into a bakery named Ali Baba Bakery and showed the books to the fair-skinned man at the cash counter. His name was Nicholas and he was immediately interested. He took SSR, Raja Vidya, Beyond Birth and Death, and Perfection of Yoga. He paid half the amount and asked m

The Actual Universe according to the Fifth Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam

For many years many people have exercised their imperfect senses in finding out the structure of the Universe or the Solar System. So they have proposed a model and others take it blindly without verifying. Anyway, it is beyond our means to actually verify. So here is the real model of the Universe, as heard through knowledge coming down to us from the actual creator of the Universe. The knowledge is acquired by the Disciple fr

All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Prabhupada: So we have been discussing for the last few days about the process of knowledge. So we have discussed already amanitvam, humbleness. Amanitvam adambhitvam ahimsa. Ahimsa, non-violence. So ahimsa ksantih, tolerance, arjavam, simplicity. These things we have already discussed.

Now another important thing is acaryopasanam. If you want to make progress, then you have to approach acarya. Just like if you want to be educated, you go to school, you go to college, you go to university, simi

Mercy at every step

Mercy at every step

It was raining, and I did not have much time to distribute books but Krishna had managed to let a few books go out……

I got my books ready, seeing everybody so busy going/coming and shopping. My mind told me, "Who is going to take a book in this hurry?"

Still my desire was strong, and I approached a gentleman exiting a store.

"Excuse me sir, did you see this book today?"

"No, and I am not interested.

"Why?" I replied. "These books are such treasures. They tell you about the soul."

Sound Advice in Difficult Times

"Oh, this is too unsettling I just can't stand the pressure anymore." S/He stood in the room and tried to calm down the mind. But it was in vain! Sounds familiar?!

We often become overwhelmed by difficult or disturbing situations and feel that our life is getting out of hand.

At that time, don't despair.

In a lecture in India Shrila Prabhupada gave the remedy: Just pause for some time - sit down and chant.

Thought Of The Day

Everyone is misguided, everyone is acting in this world under the bodily concept of life. And they are very very much unhappy on account of this. Because as soon as one understands that "I am not this body," he immediately becomes Brahma-bhutah prasannatma. Prasannatma means, what do you mean by prasannatma? Na socati na kanksati [Bg. 18.54]. No more material desire. That is brahma-bhutah. Everyone is trying for material sense gratification -- the animals, the beasts, the birds, and the human be

Each person views the world differently

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

When someone acts in a way that seems strange to you, rather than reacting in your usual way, such as, “I can’t believe they would do that,” instead say something to yourself like “I see, that must be the way she sees things in her world. Very interesting.”

When you are genuinely curious about the way someone reacts or the way they feel about something, it’s unlikely that you will be annoyed.

We Krishna-bhaktas are the luckiest  in this worldThanks to the direct involvement of Bhagavan Sri Krishna Himself, we are able to be in touch with Him . Our Bhakti-offerings are gladly accepted by Bhagavan .

Such a direct interaction with God is not possible in any other religious pathEven in Hinduism, there is lot of confusion .

When a Person surrenders himself to Sri Krishna , Bhagavan blesses Him with direct acce

The Inhabitants of the earth benefit from a cosmic fight for immortal nectar.

THE LORD'S pastime of protecting the devas (demigods) from the asuras (demons) by producing nectar from the ocean of milk is described in detail in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, Canto 8, chapters 5 through 11.

Millions of years ago, the sage Durvasa visited the capital of Indra's kingdom in the heavenly planets. While Durvasa Muni was passing on the road, he saw Indra on the back of his elephant and was pleased to offer Indra a

On the Way to Krsna - Steering Toward the Supreme

In relation to the Supreme Lord, all beings are to be respected.  Therefore a devotee refers to others as "Prabhu," meaning "My dear sir, my dear lord." Submissiveness is a qualification for a devotee of the Lord.  Devotees are kind and obedient, and they have all good qualifications.  In conclusion, if one become a devotee of the Lord, all good qualifications will automatically develop.  By nature, the living entity is perfect, but due to the contamination of lust, he becomes vicious.  That whi

Thought Of The Day

Why we are getting different bodies? Because we have got different tendency for sense gratification. Indriya, aindriyat. This is the disease, material disease. Everyone has got tendency for sense gratification, but not all of them of the same type. They have got different types. So our material bondage means these different types of sense gratification. Therefore we have to stop this. We have to be detestful from this sense gratification. Then our spiritual life will begin. That is possible by b

Lord Ganesha is the possessor of Siddhi and Riddhi.
As Ganesha had an elephant-head no girl was ready to marry him. While all other gods had a consort he did not have one and this angered Ganesha. He started creating problems in the marriages of Devas (demigods). He asked rats to dig up holes on the path through which wedding procession of any Deva would go to the bride’s house.

Krishna-Bhakti !!!

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

The process of Bhakti-yoga is very simple One can devote himself in his occupation and engage at the same time in chanting the holy names of Krishna – The holy names of Krishna and Krishna Himself are non-different . Therefore, when a devotee chants Krishna 's names, Bhagavan's  internal potency is dancing on the tongue of the devoteeThis process is  recommended in the Bhagavad-gita and in other Vedic literaturesV

Scientists Finally Conclude Nonhuman Animals Are Conscious Beings

From Psychology Today:

Every now and again I receive an email message I ignore after reading the subject line. I know I'm not alone in following this rule of thumb, but today I broke down and opened a message the subject line of which read "Scientists Declare: Nonhuman Animals Are Conscious". I honestly thought it was a joke, likely from one of my favorite newspapers, The Onion. However, it wasn't.
