2514874642?profile=originalThe soulful sankirtan of Shri Vishnujana Maharaja illuminated the streets of San Francisco and Los Angeles , and then across the States, from the earliest days of Krishna consciousness.  Today his uplifting bhajans and melodious kirtans still echo in the halls of ISKCON centers around the world.  There was never a more faithful servant of Shrila Prabhupada, and the fortunate Vaishnavas who serve

Mahaprabhu's Supreme Gift-Part 6

Hare Krsna

Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami

Rama and Mahaprabhu

With Lord Rama there is prema, there is love, but the highest love as manifest by thegopis is not there. Hanuman had no such prema. It is quite absent between Lord Rama and his associates. Rama is maryada-purusottama — he very strictly followed Vedic etiquette. He refused to accept the munis of Dandakaranya. When they requested that he accept them as his wives, Lord Rama r

How is he to be worshiped? Mahaprabhu says, ramya kacid-upasana vrajavadhu-vargena ya kalpita — He is to be worshiped with pure love in the mood of the damsels of Vrajabhumi. That is the best process of worship. That is Mahaprabhu's teaching and Mahaprabhu's opinion. The gopis only see that kisora form of Krishna, ten- to twelveyear- old Krishna, gopa-vesa, nata-vara

On the Way to Krsna!!

Sravanam kirtanam-by chanting and hearing one can come to understand Krsna.  And upon understanding Krsna, one can, at the moment of death, go immediately to HIs abode in the spiritual world.  This spiritual world is described thus in Bhagavad-gita.

na tad bhasayate suryo

na sasanko na pavakah

yad gatva na nivartante

tad dhama paramam mama

"That abode of Mine is not illumined by the sun or moon, nor by electricity.  One who reaches it never returns to this material world." (Bg. 15.6)

Hell-bent to go to Hell

Hell-bent to go to Hell

2514874684?profile=original

Sometimes people argue that hell does not exist and that there is no track of whatever sins we are doing.

But 3rd Canto 30th Chapter of Srimad Bhagavatam clearly explains the existence of hell, how far it is from earth, how the living entity travels after he leaves his body, what are the various types of punishments he undergoes there. Verses 25 through 27 in particular give us a sample glimpse of the various kind of punishment the living entity has to undergo if he leads a

Do Not Judge

Do Not Judge

2514874638?profile=original

Sometime ago we came across the following nice article which insists on the importance of not passing comments or judging people.

A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted. "Dad, look the trees are going behind!" Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old's childish behavior with pity. Suddenly he again exclaimed. "Dad, look the clouds are running with us!" The couple couldn't resist. They thought that he is mentally challenged person an

Thought Of The Day

If you think of Krsna twenty-four hours, then you'll become fully Krsna conscious, and your life is successful. Don't allow anything. This requires little practice, abhyasa-yoga-yuktena cetasa nanya-gamina [Bg. 8.8]. I should not allow my mind to go, to think of any other subject than Krsna. Now we have got so many books. So whenever you find time... You must find time. There is so much time. So read all these books or chant. But when you are hungry, you take prasadam. When you are sleepy, nap.

Give up Nonsense Talks

His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

The installing of telex communications for our main temples is not required. Then they will gossip more through the telex. (Letter to Gurudasa, 5 February 1977.)

Never waste your time in any other talks. I think our students have already developed this attitude and they are not interested in idle talks. Ambarish Maharaja set a nice example by engaging his mind always o

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur Prabhupada

When out of aversion to the service of the Supreme Lord the living entities become conditioned, sense gratification then becomes their only goal of life. Conditioned souls are fully absorbed in gratifying their senses. The speech of conditioned souls is confined to material names, forms, qualities, and activities suitable to their sense gratification. Therefore, since the

See Good in Others, Faults in Yourself

Hare Krsna

Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja

Those who have come to the matha, to the guru's asrama, should not develop bodily consciousness. Don't talk about anything but Krishna. If you speak things like, "Oh, this is nutritious food, if you eat it then your health will be nice," that is prajalpa. Give up allprajalpa. Only speak krsna-katha. There should be no prajalpa in the matha. One should be very, very careful. Don't be

On the Way to Krsna!!

How does one understand Krsna's birth and activities in truth? This is explained in the Eighteenth Chapter of Bhagavad-gita:

bhaktya mamabhijanati
yavan yas casmi tattvatah
tato mam tattvato jnatva
visate tad-anantaram

"One can understand the Supreme Personality as He is only by devotional service.  And when is in full consciousness of the Supreme Lord by such devotion, he can enter into the kingdom of God." (Bg. 18.55)

The story we are about to hear begins with Arjuna, seated under a tree on the bank of the Yamuna, expressing a desire to his friend Krishna. He wants to know secrets even Shiva and Brahma do not know. How many gopis are there? What categories do they belong to? What are their names? Where do they live? What do they do? What is their age? How do they dress? And where does Krishna revel with them in seclusion? These are some of the things that Arjuna wants to know.

As usual, Krishna responds more t

Thought Of The Day

Surrender means in any condition you'll remain surrendered. That is surrender. Not that I put my own condition, and if you satisfy me, then I shall... That is business. That is not surrender. Surrender means in any condition, fully surrendered to Krsna. Without hankering. What is hankering? Why shall I be hankering? I know, Krsna will give me all protection. So then why shall I hanker? Without hankering. Simple. No duplicity. Simple. The worldly men, they are duplicatous (?), speaking something,

Siksha Guru on all my way

The Srimad Bhagavatam speaks of a great king named Yadu. Once when he was travelling through a forest he saw an Avdhut, a person who apparently was a social outcaste. He was laying in the forest like a python. From a material and from a social consideration, he was a failure. But Yadu, being a religious man, could see the person was bright faced and happy, more happy than anyone he had ever met. So he asked, “How is it that despite the poverty, you are so happy? Who is your guru? Where did you l
