We make arguments that spiritual life is difficult. We always find a reason to say it is difficult. It is difficult because I am too young. It is difficult because I have to study. It is difficult because I have to work. It is difficult because I am married. It is difficult because I am not married. It is difficult because I have to cook. It is difficult because we have a house. It is difficult because we have a mouse! (laughter) We find so many reasons to make spiritual life and taking up Krsn

The ISKCON Harinam Sankirtan Ministry was appointed this year by the GBC. The minister is Lokanath Swami. In one of its first initiatives, the Ministry began Kirtan Fest Global, a global brand to promote Kirtan Festivals throughout the world. What better place to start than Mother India?

Kirtan Fest Global organized the Kirtan Fest India Online for ISKCON India from 10th May - 17th May, 2020 from 9 am-9 pm, which was live streamed on Facebook. The event was so popular that th

5759590496?profile=RESIZE_400xI try to reach a different destination every day, and today was Riverdale Farm (currently closed due to Covid 19). It’s my first visit to the area, and the park next to the barnyard is a mere 3.9 kilometres from my residence at the temple/ashram. My intent here was to meet up with Saumeer, whom I’ve known since he was a kid.

It feels strange, though. He’ll be fifty this month. In 1976, our guru, Prabhupada, came to town, and congratulated us on the purchase of the old Christian church which we

Sri Vitthala at Pandharpur

Pandharpur is one of the most pious place in India revered with steeped devotion to Lord Sri Krishna, who is also locally known as “Vitthal” or “Vithoba”. It is the spiritual capital of Maharashtra. Padma Purana and Skanda Purana describe that Lord Krishna came to Pandharpur in search of Rukmini Devi, when she became upset from Krishna while they were in Dwarka. Rukmini departed for the forest of Dindirvana, near Pandharpur.
At Pandharpur, the most amazing pastime w

Prajapati Dasa Passes Away

Obituary

By Nityananda Chandra Das

Prajapati Dasa (in the middle, in plaid chadar) on a morning walk with Srila Prabupada.

Prajapati Dasa, a disciple of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada  has lived at the ISKCON Dallas, Texas, USA, temple for more than two decades. During this time he established very loving relationships with college professors, often giving tours to groups of students with a baritone voice and animated expressions. Everyone relished his theatric like performances.

He would al

5720834075?profile=RESIZE_584xThe higher planetary systems have heavenly planets where one can enjoy, but above these celestial planets are planets of sages – the Maharloka and the Tapaloka, and ultimately the Brahmaloka. So, the Maharloka is the residence of the manus according to the Brhad-Bhagavatamrta. So the manus are basically prajapatis – they are forefathers of mankind. In the beginning, the universe is empty and only Brahma is there within the universe. Then from the mind of Brahma, various sages manifest and finall

A Turn Over by Bhaktimarga Swami

5720358673?profile=RESIZE_400xThe monster, Covid 19, has definitely been like some kind of plough, turning over soil and exposing new elements. People are more and more becoming actual pedestrians. Professional gyms are closed so you cannot workout in such places, which have been so popular prior to the pandemic. People’s physical exercise may now entail indoor treadmills, but many are exploring the virtues of a walk, and maybe even a mantra, or a prayer. At least some awe has been invoked in such seekers of new territory, l

Govardhana Dasa was born in Durban, South Africa, and first met the devotees in 1982. Although attracted by their harinamas, he was reluctant to take a copy of The Science of Self-Realization from them, but after reading the first sixty pages, he instantly became a vegetarian and started chanting Hare Krishna. Saved by Srila Prabhupada’s books, Govardhana Dasa remains connected to them to this day: he began by distributing them and now serves as a trustee of BBT Africa and as a global BBT trust

Pilgrims wear masks and stand six feet apart while taking darshan of Sri Sri Radha Vrindabanchandra

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March, ISKCON temples worldwide have been in lockdown, unable to connect with their communities or give spiritual knowledge to newcomers in person, and instead shifting these activities online. Without in-person outreach activities, the last few months have also seen temples struggling to maintain themselves, with centers in Italy, Franc

5688586057?profile=RESIZE_400xJust prior to my evening walk, our group from the temple ashram pulled out our instruments for another bang of musical sounds to salute the Health Caretakers contending with and tending to the Covid virus. I thought we sounded good but tonight we appeared to be the only ones on the street bearing paraphernalia to create some sound.

It seemed strange to us. Are the neighbours all through with connecting to one another? Does everyone want to just go back to normal?

Those of us from the ashram

SRI SRI RADHA-SHYAMSUNDAR
The Only Deity In The World Manifested From The Heart Of Srimati Radharani
At Seva Kunj, Sridham Vrindavana (next to Sri Sri Radha-Damodara Temple)

Sri Vrindavana Dhama is the holiest of all the holy places. Even the denizens of heaven desire to take birth in this holy land, which is purified by the touch of Lord Krishna’s lotus feet. Among the seven main temples of Gaudiya Vaishnava sect in Sri Vrindavana Dhama, the temple of Sri Sri Radha Shyamsundar has carved a

Hare Krishna community delivers free meals to health care workers and other hungry people around Gainesville.

Krishna Lunch has been a staple at the University of Florida (UF) for nearly 40 years but, like many things, coronavirus brought the daily campus tradition to a swift halt. Now, the meals are being distributed to other hungry folk.

Since March 30, Gainesville’s Krishna House has provided over 4,000 free meals to health care workers through their “Health

How the Farmer Left the Field

Five workhorses stood in the field, in contrast with the yellow hills behind them. They took their languid stance; the farmer had no more to do with them. If the farmer went near the fence at any time, they became alert. He knew he would surrender his attention to them, so he kept a distance. Horses have keen sight, sense of smell and hearing, and are sometimes horribly startled, so they were not always to his liking. When they were young he

In the UK, the Hare Krishna Festival team has stayed at home and stopped all their outreach activities since March 23rd due to COVID-19, a hard time for devotees used to distributing the Holy Name.

From June 1st, however, the UK government has begun to ease restrictions slightly. Up to six people are now allowed to gather in public or private outdoor spaces without wearing masks, as long as they remain two meters (six feet) apart.

The allowances have spurred the Hare K

5657046891?profile=RESIZE_584xIn difficult times like these, I feel the urgent need for Srila Prabhupada’s books to be distributed in large numbers, for only such literature can enlighten people how to proceed in the right way.

Srila Prabhupada’s preface to Srimad-Bhagavatam is profoundly relevant:

“We must know the present need of human society. And what is that need? Human society is no longer bounded by geographical limits to particular countries or communities . . ., and the world tendency is toward one state or one huma

As I sent a pic of Vishnu, who my friend, Tom, happens to love, he sent me an article he thought I would like. First came his brief letter, and then the article “Economy and Cyclist.”

Hi Maharaj (that’s me),
All glories to Vishnu!
Just thought you might find this little article on cyclists and walkers interesting. Hope everything is going well at the temple.
Sincerely,

5546742890?profile=RESIZE_584xWHAT MOOD SHOULD WE OBSERVE THIS FESTIVAL?

I think our mood should be one of service. We should want to satisfy Lord Nityananda. We want to help great devotes like Das Raghunatha. Try to engage in the service of the supreme Lord and his devotees we are trying to be the dasanu anu das.

HOW TO OBESERVE THIS FESTIVAL AT HOME DURING THE LOCKDOWN?

Mix flat rice and yogurt and offer that to deities of Nitai Gaura or to the photos and take the prasadam. It’s not a fast day, this is a feast day. Lord Ni
