Dengue Fever Remedy

I would like to share this interesting discovery from a classmate's son who has just recovered from
dengue fever. Apparently, his son was in the critical stage at the ICU when his blood platelet count drops to 15 after 15 liters of blood transfusion.

His father was so worried that he seeks another friend's recommendation and his son was saved. He

Sarupya Mukti

Especially when Krsna appears as an avatara, anyone who thinks of Krsna in His different incarnations (ramadi-murtisu kala-niyamena tisthan [Bs. 5.39]), and especially in His original form as Krsna, attains salvation. There are many instances of this, and among them is Aghasura, who attained the salvation of sarupya-mukti. Therefore the process is satatam kirtayanto mam yatantas ca drdha-vratah (Bg. 9.14). Those who are devotees always engage in glorifying Krsna. Advaitam acyutam anadim ananta-r

Cleanliness is important

After breakfast Prabhupada called for Yasodanandana and Mahamsa Maharajas who are both growing their hair and beards on the plea of observing caturmasya. Srila Prabhupada told them it was inappropriate that they look dirty and unclean on such an important occasion. His criticism had the desired effect for they both left and immediately shaved their heads and faces.

Immersed In The Nectar Of Chanting

Hare Krsna dear devotees, tomorrow is the auspicious appearance day of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur. He is very recognized by his amazing songs and by his writings. Everything he made he put his heart on it and its also very inspiring to read and sing his songs. I remember hearing a devotee singing this song with my Guru Maharaj and everytime I see this song I remember what mood we should have when we chant and when we perform service in our everyday life.
This is the translation of this song, I am

Incarnations and Expansions of the Lord

Lord Caitanya explained to Sanatana Gosvami that the expansions of Lord Krsna who come to the material creation are called avataras. The word 'avatara' means 'one who descends' (from Sanskrit avatarati) and in this case the word specifically refers to one who descends from the spiritual sky. In the spiritual sky there are innumerable Vaikuntha planets, and from these planets the expansions of the Supreme Personality of Godhead come into this universe.

Sometimes the word 'incarnation' (lit. 'one w

I was distributing books in Northampton (in the Midlands of England) and stopped a young man who seemed quite well-natured. He had grown up in a Catholic family, but he introduced himself as a 21-year-old searcher looking deeply into Buddhism. I showed him our new VEDA book and told him that the article on Buddhism and KC may interest him. He had heard of the Vedas and was happy to take it away, along with a couple of other books, and generously gave a £20 donation.

Eight Aspects of Brahmacarya

Discussion with evidences - Maha-mantra Das

Brahmacarya

Brahmacarya, or celibate student life, is the first spiritual stage (asrama) in the varnasrama system. It lasts from 5th to 25th year of of one's life and during this time the brahmacari lives with his spiritual master and learns the theory and practice of the Vedic life recorded in the revealed scriptures.

After this time he is allowed to marry and enter the stage of householder life (grhastha asrama). Some brahmacaris, however, remain celibate the whole life.

Brahmacarya is defined as an absten

Practice ignoring your negative thoughts

Hare Krishna Friends,

It has been estimated that the average human being has around 60,000 thoughts per day. That's a lot of thoughts. Some of these thoughts are going to be positive and productive. Unfortunately, however, many of them are also going to be negative—angry, fearful, pessimistic, worrisome. Indeed, the important question isn't whether or not you're going to have negative thoughts — you are—it's what you choose to do with the ones that you have.

In a practical sense, you really have o

Moksha Kama

The devotees, the jnanis, who are known as moksa-kama, and the karmis, who are known as sarva-kama, are all aspiring to worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Visnu. Even when one performs yajnas, as stated here (kriya-kalapaih), he should always remember that the demigods are but agents of the Supreme Lord. Actually the worshipful Lord is Visnu, Yajnesvara. Thus even when different demigods are worshiped in the Vedic and Tantric sacrifices, the actual goal of sacrifice is Lord Visnu.

Follow the sastrasSrila Prabhupada gave a class on Caitanya-caritamrta Madhya-lila 20.395 at 7:30 a.m. in his room. Construction work prevented the use of the temple room. The verse appropriately got us in the mood of Janmastami, for in it Lord Caitanya explains to Sanatana Gosvami the eternal nature of Lord Krsna's pastimes. "Nitya-lila means everlasting pastimes," Prabhupada told us. "Our lila, material, that is not nitya-lila. Whatever I'm acting by this body, it is not nitya; it is temporary.

Fire Strikes ISKCON Again

Fire Strikes ISKCON Again

First we lost Aindra Prabhu to fire, then a fiery explosion took out our Leicester Temple in the UK. Now, a massive wild fire has engulfed Pandavas Paradise, our 1000 acre Hare Krishna retreat center in the grassy plateaus of central Brazil (Chapada dos Veadeiros).

Though a common occurence at this time of the year, this wild fire was allied with a powerful wind. We are coming to the end of the dry season here, it is very dry and we haven’t had a drop of rain for abou

KAMSA, THE MIGHTY SCHIZOPHRENIC!

Friday, September 03, 2010
By Damodara Pandita dasa

SCHIZOPHRENIA is a mental disorder characterized by a disconnection between one’s thoughts, feelings and actions. ‘Skhizo’, in Greek, means split and ‘phren’ means mind – the mind is split between discordant thoughts, emotions and activities. Victims ofschizophrenia show some common traits – mistrust, suspicion, lack of reasoning power and selfish tendencies!

Once, the proud and evil-minded Kamsa willingly undertook to escort his newly wedded s
