When, where and how did you come into contact with the Hare Krishna Movement?
I bought a book at a Grateful Dead concert in 1994 and it changed my life. I've intensely studied Srila Prabhupada's books ever since. I used to stay for several nights at a time here and there during my homeless hitchhiking years at the Columbus temple and New Vrindaban. I remember one time I painted the entire basement of the Columbus House yellow for Malati. I also hung out at the Krishna camp at the '96 National Rainbow Gathering in Missouri and camped beside Prithu' s camp at the '98 National Rainbow Gathering in Arizona. I formally moved into the Denver, Colorado Temple in '96-'97. I drifted away for many years and explored other spiritual paths. I spent several weeks at Gita Nagari in 2001, as well as several weeks at the Washington D.C. temple that year. Krishna by His kind mercy has recently led me back to Himself, and I now completely embrace Krishna Consciousness and seek to spread the glories of the Holy Names as much as possible.
Name the nearest or most frequently Visited ISKCON temple/ centre and name few of the devotees whom you know.
The closest Temples to me are New Vrindaban and Gita Nagari. I have known many devotees in the past, and am friends with many presently. I am a disciple of His Holiness Bhaktiratna Sadhu Swami Gaurangapada.
Please describe yourself so that other like minded devotees can find you.
I'm 37 years old, and have been a bookworm since I was a child. I read mostly science books as a child and by age 8 had read the entire Encyclopedia. I began reading about reincarnation and alternative spiritualties at age 11, and by the time I first read "The Science of Self Realization" at age 17, I had aquired a vast amount of knowledge of religion and spirituality. Srila Prabhupada's words clicked with me instantly.

My parents, though Lutheran Christians, encouraged me to explore spirituality for myself and find what I felt comfortable with. I love them for allowing me that freedom. They continue to be supportive of me being a devotee. I've taken my mother in the past to visit both New Vrindaban and Gita Nagari, and she enjoyed both places.

I really love chanting japa, reading, listening to lectures and Kirtans/Bhajans, writing about Krishna Consciousness, preaching, meeting and serving devotees, and trying to help potential devotees.

I have played drums since I was 8 years old, and can play mrdanga, djembe, and drum set. I also play guitar, and would love to learn to play the harmonium.

All I desire in life is to serve Lord Krishna and His devotees in whatever ways that I can. I hand out small books and pamphlets to people at grocery stores in my area for free just to spread the Holy Names. I'm currently writing a devotional book. Hare Krishna!
What are your expectations from this community?
To meet Devotees that I can correspond with to help me advance spiritually.
Describe any specific service you would love to offer to Lord Krishna & His devotees?
Anything needed.

Vedic Banishing and Protection Technique

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Sri Guru Parampara and all devotees everywhere!

Due to recent events, I put together this ritual to be used for psychic protection, to banish negative entities and energies, and can also simply be used to create a sacred space around you. It uses the Nityananda, Gauranga, and Hare Krishna mantras, as well as parts of the Nrisingha Kavacha. This ritual can be done anywhere at any time that you…

Haribol! Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Sri Guru Parampara and all the devotees!

I hope everyone has a fantastic Janmastami! I'm at New Vrindaban, West Virginia, where I've been since last Friday. It has been the most ecstatic time of my life! This is exactly what I needed spiritually! The devotees here have been absolutely wonderful, and there's been so many blissfully ecstatic kirtans this week! I can't wait for Mangala Arati to start, and today's festivities are…

The Bhakti Yoga Handbook

Posted on August 8, 2013 at 11:29pm 1 Comment

I just got "The Bhakti Yoga Handbook" by Stephen Knapp for my Kindle. I've only read the introduction so far, and judging from that, I think this is going to be the perfect book to optimize my sadhana.

I'm going to use this blog to share the things I learn as I study this book and actually stick myself to a schedule. Haribol!

If If you want to get this book and study it with me, here's the link:

The devotee who I admire most

Hare Krishna everyone! Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Since I've started pouring my heart out here, I thought that I should write a little about the devotee who taught me and inspired me the most back in the 1990's.

His name is Apurva prabhu, and he is a disciple of Srila Prabhupada who was the Temple President in Denver, Colorado when I lived there.

His kindness to me and all the things I learned from him have always stuck with me…

Pranam My Dearest Christopher Prabhu.  Hare  Krishna.
May you receive transcendental blessings and grace
and mercy; health and strength  and  understanding;
peace and love; harmony  and  wisdom;  insight  and
intuition and inspiration from the God of Gods; the
Lord of Lords; the King of Kings; the God of love; the
Original Bhagavan; the  Supreme Personality of Godhead,
Lord Krishna. I offer my respectful obeisances unto Him.
The blacksmith`s anvil receives constant blows from the
hammer and still remains unshaken. When one has perfect
knowledge of Lord Krishna, then no matter how many
difficulties and hardships, sorrows and afflictions  one may
face, one`s mind remains serene and one does not falter.
May your devotion to Lord Krishna be resolute and unflinching;
may your confidence in Him be firm and total; may your love
for Him be unfailing and intense, and may your faith in Him be
strong  and steadfast; deep and profound; unwavering and
unshakeable. Know well that Lord Krishna`s eternal love for you
encircle and encompasses you at all times, night and day. With
love and best wishes, take care, bye. Radhe Radhe.

A preacher in Krishna consciousness is a humble servant
of Lord Krishna. He does not think that he enlightens
others. The glow-worm thinks that it illuminates the
world. Imagine this to be the glow-worm`s feeling.
Someone said to it, "O glow-worm, how can you bring
light to the world ? You only reveal the intensity of the
darkness." The greater a devotee is in spiritual advancement,
the more meek and humble, natural and unassuming the
devotee becomes. May Lord Krishna grant you success in
Krishna Consciousness and protect you and fill your life
with simplicity and humility; appreciation and gratitude;
patience  and perseverance; kindness and generosity;
compassion and  forgiveness; courage  and  enthusiasm;
devotion, dedication and determination. With love and
best wishes, take care, bye. Radhe Radhe.
