We can do great things, and I heard that if we want to accomplish great things we have to start with apparently small things, look at the details, concentrate on the essential, so we can go deep into the path of Bhakti. We should feel it is the most important thing in our life and put all of our heart and intelligence into developing our love for the Lord and giving it to others. We need to become friendly and compassionate at all levels. Becoming a happy, mature, advanced

Crossing the Border of Impersonalism

2515070410?profile=original

By Abhaya Mudra Dasi

Iron Lust into Golden Love

Where does the border lie between impersonalism and personalism? Who is the guardian of that border and who permits crossing the border from the impersonal to the personal understanding of the Supreme Absolute Truth? He is the bona fide spiritual master who drags us from the darkness of ignorance, as exemplified by the mayavadi’s illusory concept of a senseless Godhead, towards an understanding of Krishna and His devotees through devotional se

On the 7th of December 2015, padayatra reached Pakala, a major town in the Chittor District of Andhra Pradesh. Whenever we travel, the ratha of Nitai Gaurasundar is in front and following closely behind are 3 trolleys. On this occasion I was upfront driving the tractor at a very slow pace. While passing by a local liquor shop the brakes of the tractor failed. I tried hard to press the brakes because I was worried that we would crash into the many people gathered outside the liquor shop, but

Padayatra Always Inspiring

On December 24th 2014, we reached the town of Palamaner in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. It has been nine years since we have been here, this was when we had initially met Shivaram prabhu. After he had received the darsana of Nitai Gaurasundar for the first time and listened to transcendental kirtana he became inspired to take up spiritual life in 2005. He attended all our programs during our stay in town that year, and received good association from all our padayatris. Shivaram prabh

The year 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of ISKCON which was founded in 1966 by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. We, the devotees of Ahmedabad, Gujarat decided that we would be the first to offer one out of fifty padayatras which have been planned for this year to celebrate ISKCON’s anniversary. This was our first time organizing a padayatra. Lokanath Swami assured us that if there were more than fifty devotees walking on this padayatra he would also join us. So with t

How to Overcome Anxiety?

2515108938?profile=original

The more we are in search of happiness, the more we will find sadness in our lives. The more we engage in activities for our own pleasure, the more we will find pain in our lives. The more we engage in activities for our own sense gratification, the more we will find distress in our lives. As long as the motivation for our activities is to find honor, the more we will suffer dishonor in our lives.

The principle of material existence is ‘anxiety’. As soon as the child is born, he cries. Later as

Iskcon’s extraordinary success in spreading its wing in mere 50 years shows that there are people all over the world who still have great affinity for India’s Vedic culture and tradition.  When Srila Prabhupada incorporated Iskcon then he refused to dilute the Vedic teachings to make it more acceptable to non-Indians. Not just the philosophy but even the attire and the food he introduced in the west were completely Vedic.  Men were supposed to wear Dhoti-kurta and had to have sikha and tilak and

Yatra to Inamanamellur.
On the banks of Gundlakamma river, amidst Guava fruit orchards and blessed by Lord ChennaKeshava is the well-known Inamanamellur village. The village was once well known for its rich Sri Vaishnava traditions; therefore the name of the village has Tamil origin. But presently these traditions are followed more so as obligations. The younger generation is totally apathetic to these traditions. Though situated on the banks of a river the villagers are more focused on agribus

Giriraj Swami discussed Srila Rupa Gosvami’s The Nectar of Instruction.

“Srila Prabhupada said, ‘We have to become conscious before we become Krishna conscious.’ We should not talk about others without reason. In other words, there should be some filtering process between what goes on in our mind and what comes out of our mouth—at least in the beginning. After Krishna went to Mathura, He sent Uddhava to meet the gopisin Vrindavan, and they had so many complaints about Krishna—of course, all on

Kerala is the most materially educated state in India. Almost all local people know English. That is why even those devotees who do not know the local languages of India can go there and preach Krsna consciousness.

There is a need to bring Krsna consciousness to this area, because although the people are materially educated, spiritual knowledge is lacking. Because of contact with Europeans, first with Vasco Da Gama in the 15thcentury and later with the British dominion

Srila Prabhupada involved in a car accident.
Pusta Krishna das: This photograph was taken in Mauritius in 1975, just after Srila Prabhupada’s South African tour. The President of Mauritius sent a Citroen car and a driver to bring him to visit, but Srila Prabhupada, hearing about a recent decision by the government to support chicken slaughter houses, he decided to merely take a ride and then return to the place where we were all staying.
On getting into the auto, I requested Srila Prabhupad to
