Prabhupada on Mercy Killing

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Prabhupada: You should be careful. Why should you commit mistake? But if unconsciously, by mistake it is done, that is another thing.
Brahmananda: He wants to know does the ant receive benefit?
Prabhupada: No. Then he will be lenient to kill them to give them benefit. [laughter] He'll be so...
Brahmananda: Like they say "mercy killing," that "This is good for you. I will kill you and it is good for you."
Prabhupada: Yes. You

Thought Of The Day

Prakrti means under the control of the purusa. That is natural. We cannot conceive equal rights of purusa and prakrti. That is not Vedic conception. Vedic conception is purusa, the superior, Supreme, and prakrti means subordinate. Purusa is predominator, and prakrti is predominated. So we living entities, we are prakrti. Falsely if we try to become purusa, that is maya. We should remain prakrti, subservient, predominated. That is this Krsna consciousness movement. Because generally the people ar

Thought Of The Day

So it is not possible to understand Krsna, but Krsna is giving about, knowledge about Himself, as far as we can understand. That is Bhagavad-gita. So at least you try to understand Krsna as far instruction in the Bhagavad-gita... Caitanya Mahaprabhu has recommended, yare dekha tare kaha krsna-upadesa [Cc. Madhya 7.128]. The human life is meant for understanding Krsna. There is no other business. If you simply stick to this business, your life is successful. Our Krsna consciousness movement is me

Thought Of The Day

This is bhakti-marga, devotional service, to become very humble, meek, always pray to Krsna, "Kindly consider me as one of the particle of the dust of the lotus feet of Your Lordship," this very simple thing. Man-mana. In this way think of Krsna, become His devotee, offer obeisances and whatever patram puspam, little flower, water, you can provide, offer to Krsna. In this way live very peacefully and be happy.

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

At a restaurant, a cockroach suddenly flew from somewhere and sat on a lady. She started screaming out of fear. With a panic stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach.

Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group also got panicky.

The lady finally managed to push the cockroach away but ...it landed on another lady in the group.

Now, it

Relief from misery

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

In this material world, everyone is trying to search out happiness and get relief from misery. There are three kinds of miseries caused by our material condition: adhyatmika, adhibhautika, and adhidaivika.

Adhyatmika miseries are those caused by the body and mind themselves. For example, when there is some dis-arrangement of the different functions of metabolism within the body, we get a fever or some pain. Another kind

Thought Of The Day

Nobody can captivate Krsna by all these material possessions. These are material possessions: money, then manpower, beauty, education, austerity, mystic power and so on, so on. There are so many things. They are not capable of approaching the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Krsna personally says, bhaktya mam abhijanati [Bg. 18.55]. He doesn't say all these material possessions, that "If one is very rich man, he can have My favor." No. Krsna is not a poor man like me, that if somebody gives me so
