8468946491?profile=RESIZE_584xIn searching for something in the Srimad Bhagavatam that gives some reference to castrating a bull to make an ox I could not find something that said “you castrate a bull” directly however there is some word use information that might be telling. I am not a sanskrit scholar and may be well off the point here (if you are one please help).

In looking at the words used for a bull we find Vrisha (and its linguistic derivatives) used for a full bull.

-This is used in regards to referring to a bull as

During a Zoom call, I was in the illustrious company of our leaders. I offered them my praises. They were mostly younger than me, the next generation who believe in book marathons, and have just completed one in December into early January. The books are of a revolutionary kind, in terms of altering consciousness.

The focus during that period of time was predominantly on the sponsoring and disbursement of Bhagavad-Gita’s. To accomplish this all involved worked very hard. In addition to expressin

Appreciating America by Giriraj Swami

8446659260?profile=RESIZE_400xYesterday on inauguration day, I thought of Srila Prabhupada’s appreciation of America. Tamal Krishna Goswami came in with Prabhupada’s green card and said, “Prabhupada, America is waiting for you. Customs is ready; immigration is ready. Everything is cleared.” Prabhupada began to cry. “I am so indebted to America,” he said. “America has given me so much. It’s given me men, money. I am so indebted.”

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

A Walker Gone by Bhaktimarga Swami

8442899078?profile=RESIZE_400xIt appears to be the month of death. Not Covid related, however, another case of someone I know passing, was a young man from Philly who gave up his life — suddenly. I got to know him on my walk across the U.S. He joined me at a few spots on the east coast. It rather choked me up to hear about his ending.

After some time of grievance (it hit hard for a few hours) I thought less about the loss and his challenged upbringing. Rather, I focused more on his positive contribution. A man with a big hea

8438859656?profile=RESIZE_584xOn the Passing of Bhakta Esa Khalief
January 14, 2021

Dear ISKCON Family,
Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

We are shocked and saddened by the sudden demise of our beloved friend and resident member, Esa Khalief, on January 14, 2021, at ISKCON Gita Nagari. Many of us are struggling to make sense of Esa’s passing.

Esa spent 14 months at ISKCON Gita Nagari and during his stay here he was always helpful, enthusiastic, and devoted to the process of Krishna

Jim Poem by Bhaktimarga Swami

8438756265?profile=RESIZE_400x
I have been in touch with my sister, Rose Ann, who just lost her husband who was struggling with cancer. Jim Burgess was an amiable person. I don’t know where he stood on spirituality but he did live on a plant-based diet. Below is my poem about Jim:

Jim

Came a man who hailed from Erieau

Just across the lake from state Ohio

He was just a really nice guy

Not a bone in his body you’d call shy

He had this positive gift of gab

With a personality oh so fab

He was generous and into charity

That could

A Day by Bhaktimarga Swami

8435448277?profile=RESIZE_400xI just wasn’t bold at all in terms of walking. I merely went around the block at 4 a.m., before the first rite of the day — mangal arati. The rest of my day of devotion entailed calls and meetings — all very meaningful. It included discussions about our mission in Cuba, where I’ve been involved for 12 years. The pandemic has not been easy on that country, like many. Our devotees are not able to gather together and Zoom is somewhat difficult to utilize due to lack of internet access.

I did enjoy

A Hare Krishna Community Radio station based in Alachua, Florida had a soft launch on Christmas Day, broadcasting a series of devotional programs on the holiday as well as over four days at New Year’s. The project, run by Sudharma Dasi, aims to grow into a full-time digital radio station and eventually to reach out to listeners beyond the ISKCON community with devotional music, interviews, discussions, meditations and more.

"Later, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, isolated in our own home studios, we were able to record a range of great overdubs later to fill out their grand vision for the piece,” - says Vishvambhar Seth, a founding member of the Hanumen band.

The World Is Looking by Bhaktimarga Swami

8425434298?profile=RESIZE_400xThe whole world is looking, once again, at US internal strife. This time a group of protesters stormed the capital building in Washington DC. It was a mob scene and it was ugly. It was described to me when I was on the phone with a friend from Vancouver, during the time that I was polishing brass in our temple. My immediate response, as I listened, was that it is shameless behavior on the part of the former US president simply being a poor sport.

I later took to seeing some visual coverage of th

Destiny by Bhaktimarga Swami

8421870301?profile=RESIZE_400xThese days I’m missing Argentina, Cuba, Guyana, Trinidad, Suriname, India, South Africa, Mauritius as well as parts of the US and Canada, which are all my regular places of visitation. Woe is me! Like so many people on this planet, Earth, we are bound.

My peers, some of which are sannyasis (full-fledged monks), gurus and sages, both men and women, are all in the same boat. Most of us have established a home-base.

But we have considered carefully what is our actual home, and are we moving in the

2008 saw the opening of the UK’s first state-funded Hindu school when the landmark Krishna Avanti Primary School in Harrow opened its doors. 12 years later, the Trust educates more than 4000 students across 10 schools up and down the country, with many more in the pipeline.

From its inception, Avanti’s ethos has been inspired by the Vaisnava teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, creating a 21st century ecosystem that sustains the highest quality of education possible, int
