American Swami Startles 830 HSBC Bankers

It seemed as if time had paused on Thursday 7th April to witness an historical event where two extreme ends of the world met for a fusion of the material to the spiritual. His Holiness Radhanath Swami was invited as key note speaker on behalf of the Euro CEO of HSBC to address a large gathering of high profile influential bankers along with the Group Manager of the Board on the topic of universal equality.

Who is a Real Guru?

A real Guru is one who is born from time to time as a repository of spiritual force which he transmits to future generations through successive links of Guru and Shishya (disciple).

The current of this spirit-force changes its course from time to time, just as a mighty stream of water opens up a new channel and leaves the old one for good.

Thus it is seen that old sects of religion grow lifeless in the course of time, and new sects arise with the fire of life in them.

In one small city in Spain I walked over to a man sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked car and handed him a copy of The Science of Self-Realization. As he looked at the beautiful photograph of Srila Prabhupada on the cover, I spoke to him about the book and about the chanting of Hare Krsna.
On the seat beside him I noticed a large knife, some whisky bottles, and what appeared to be a package of illegal drugs. The man accepted the book gave a donation and I left. A half an hour later he retur

Thought Of The Day

The real goal should be how can I make spiritual advancement. Just like when you are sick with fever, every few minutes you touch your forehead, you want to know is my fever going down or not. Similarly we should examine, is my material fever going down or not.

Srila Prabhupada quotes on Ekadasi

To observe Ekadasi-vrata and Dvadasi-vrata means to please the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Those interested in advancing in krsna consciousness must observe ekadasi-vrata regularly.

SB 4.28.35-36
We can definitely see that to advance in Krsna consciousness one must control his bodily weight. If one becomes too fat, it is to be assumed that he is not advancing spiritually. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura severely criticized his fat disciples. The idea is that one who intends to advance

Where is the difficulty?

So where is the difficulty to understand God? There is no difficulty. If actually one is sane man, if he has got some brain substance, not stool substance, then he can understand God in every step, every step. Every step. Raso 'ham apsu kaunteya prabhasmi sasi-suryayoh sabdah khe... Everything is explained there. Why they speak lies, that "I have not seen God." Why don't you see God as God directs you to see? Why do you manufacture your own way? You cannot see God by your own way. That is not po

A Lesson from the Geese

Have you ever wondered why migrating geese fly in a 'V' formation? As with most animal behavior, God had a good reason for including that in their instincts. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates uplift for the bird following. In a V formation, the whole flock adds at least 71% more flying range than if each bird flew alone.

Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to fly alone…and quickly gets back into formation. Like geese…… people who sh

Violence

Everything has its proper utility, and a man who is situated in complete knowledge knows how and where to apply a thing for its proper utility
"Violence also has its utility, and how to apply violence rests with the person in knowledge".
Although the justice of the peace awards capital punishment to a person condemned for murder, the justice of the peace cannot be blamed, because he orders violence to another person according to the codes of justice.
Nonviolence in politics may be a diplomacy, bu

How shall i serve you

Even in ISKCON's early days, Prabhupada had intimated that he preferred to hand over the management of his Society to his senior men. By doing this he could be free to finish translating the Srimad-Bhagavatam.

Nevertheless, Prabhupada's day-to-day letters from his disciples were still filled with questions that could be quite competently answered by the senior devotees. In reply to such a letter sent from Upendra, Srila Prabhupada wrote:

"Simplicity Diet"

Hare Krishna,

Few months back I was in Rajasthan and I was inspired to write this small article dedicating to all those following simplicity diet.  I am sure those who visit villages in Rajasthan get the same feeling.  In comparison to villages in other parts of India, Rajasthani villages are special. Rajasthani men and women are semblem of simplicity.  And it starts with their diet.

Krishna's Smile - Always Gives Him Away

One cool autumn evening, Radha and Her sakhis gathered in raasa bhoomi to meet Krishna. Govinda also arrived followed by some of His dearest sakhaas. Krishna was eager to perform the raasa dance and hoped that the gopis would be agreeable; however, Radhika decided She did not wish to perform raasaleela on that day, but instead wanted to play hide and seek! Govinda gently suggested that perhaps hide and seek was not a good game to play in raasa bhoomi, as it was an open space and there was no pla
