According to upanishads there are two birds one enjoying the fruits of different tree and enjoying or suffering the results (soul) and other just witnessing his actions (SUPERSOUL). After suffering and enjoying so much we finally get to know about our svarup of surrendering unto krsna.
Even after knowing that we have to and we must surrender unto Krishna and serve him, we is very difficult to do so. When we can easily go from one tree to another then why after knowing where we truly belong , it still get so much tough to do so?

Why is it difficult to surrender to Sri Krsna ?
Short answer is - Envy
1. Being envious of Sri Krsna the living conditioned living entities in material world are trying enjoy separate from Krsna and immitate the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krsna who is always enjoying with His devotees.
2. In this attempt the conditioned soul acquires a material identity, material desires, material body etc. Conditioned living being becomes attached to these & fiercly protects its material indentity, desires, inclinations, sense objects, etc.
3. The conditioned living being forgets its spritual identity and completely forgets spiritual connection, so much that it considers material world to be permanenet and only home. With this material identity, condition jiva gets addicted bodliy pleasures such as sex life. Jiva wants to enjoy more and more sex because that is the highest gross pleasure in material world.
4. Then jiva gets more entangled in by products of sex like children, relatives, who all further encourage in increasing acquiring other objects that facilitate sex life like big house, car, vacation, post, power , prestige etc
5. Then jiva becomes completely mad after sense enjoyment without considering any moral, legal, social rules and regulations and acts lower than animals.
Surrendering to Sri Krsna means giving up everything that jiva ever aqcuired and fought for. Every bit of sense gratification, every enjoyment, every sense of ownership, cutting every relationship, having no power, no control of anything outside or even over onself.
Fully Surrendering means I am nothing, my existence is at your disposal.
Unless one has complete faith on Sri Krsna alone, one cannot fully surrender.
But again surrender is not a binary switch. It has stages
What are stages of Surrender to Sri Krsna
ānukūlyasya saṅkalpaḥ
prātikūlyasya varjanam
rakṣiṣyatīti viśvāso
goptṛtve varaṇaṁ tathā
ātma-nikṣepa-kārpaṇye
ṣaḍ-vidhā śaraṇāgatiḥ
The six divisions of surrender are
1.the acceptance of those things favorable to devotional service,
2.the rejection of unfavorable things,
3.the conviction that Kṛṣṇa will give protection,
4.the acceptance of the Lord as one’s guardian or master,
5.full self-surrender, and
6.humility.

One can surrender easily to Krsna if one can see Krsna.
For example, surrender came easily to Dhruva Maharaja after he saw the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

i got two varieties of answers for this ---
1. Why should surrender to Krishna be easy?what is easy to achieve in this material life? when the task at hand is so glorious then why can it be easy?i want to say that if your are a fully surrendered soul then even while being in this material body you'll feel free of the terrible pangs associated with it.It will be kind of "home away from home" meaning that though your home is vaikuntha you'll feel vaikuntha(misery free),right here!!
2. Surrender is easy if we let go of massive massive illusion that we deal with.it is not that you'll suddenly throw off the illusion like a used cloth.Matters are very intricate here as these matters are governed by the superior energy of Krishna.We being minute living entities are always overwhelmed by the material energy.Material energy will always have you confused about future , about present etc.That confusion and fear solidifies the illusion more and more.In short you really can't get above illusion by your own strength so it translates as that you can't surrender as you can't let go of illusion!!
So surrender is difficult prabhu g as it should be.

First of all there are no two trees. There is only one tree and the 2 birds are sitting on the same branch too. It takes only a minute to turn towards the Supersoul. But the jiva is busy busy enjoying the Karma fal ( either enjoying or suffering ).
When good karma is done ..by the body. It gives good results, when Bad karma done it yields bad results. All together either good or bad is enjoyed or suffered by the bird sitting next to to Supersoul bird.
Yes, Even after suffering so much also why are we not able to surrender unto Krishna??
This is because of Maya.
Maya makes us deluded and makes us think that we are the DOER.
When we do some good karma we take the credit to ourselves isn't it? ( When I topped my 12th grade exam- I felt I am great ( HEHHEH) I did a lot of hard work for passing this. When we pass something or whenever we gain in some success we credit to our capabiliites and we are so so happy about it that we don't even know that Karma always comes in as a package. Good Karma will definitely yeild good results no doubt but then just a fire and smoke exist together. After happiness there is sadness just like seasons change. Every Karma that we do is tainted with some bad karma package as well. So, we forget that and we become elated when we are enjoying something in this world and when suffering comes we are totally morose. Isn't it? We are unaware of the past life. We think all that we are seeing right now in front of our eyes that is only life. But Soul is taking body from many life times. It is enjoying and suffering.. enjoying at times and suffering at times.
There are some of us who even take the credit of all good karma to our own self and when bad times comes blame it all on GOD. Why don't we credit the bad effects of the Karma done also to our own Wrong Doings?
The biggest mistake in here is we don't consider that Krishna is the DOER. We are nimmitta matra. ( we have no role in this) isn't it?
WE BEING PART OF SUPERSOUL we are not the doer. DOER IS ONLY KRISHNA.
If we assume that we are independent of Krishna we become entangled by maya and in that maya we feel we are doer and we are responsible for everything.
If you see the Cosmic form of Lord the Vishnu who occupies all the worlds. We all marginal potencies are part and Parcel of HIM ( the Big Huge FORM) .. you maybe a teeny tiny cell of that Huge gigantic form.
I also might be a small cell on the finger of the Huge form. We forgot that we are belonging to HIm and we are all acting independently.
Now the cell on the finger of LORD If starts to think it is different from Krishna and acts independently what will happen?
LORD's own finger doesn't listen to HIM and surrender to HIM??? ( does it how it works?)
Let us say Akshit's own finger protests against Akshit's brain. Akshit's brain commands the finger to pick up something the finger does something else and dis obeys Akshit. That means. Akshit's has to go to a doctor now because the finger is not taking commands of the brain .. it lost its nerve supply. it is a disease. isn't it?
same is happening with us we are not surrendering to Lord and behaving independent of LORD.
CELLS all must work one Single Unit but when each Cell in the Cosmic form is enjoying independently and not obeying the commands of Lord it is a disorder. So we are all fallen down.
When a part is diseased what does the Doctor do? He cuts it off. So we are fallen into this material world like this.
INDEED WHen the doctor cuts the part off from the Person. Who is suffering from Pain?? Bechare Bhagwan. It is LORD WHO IS MORE SUFFERING THAN US as a part of HIS BODY IS FALLEN and diseased.
We think Our suffering here in this material world is painful but actually the pain is for LORD. And LORD Expects that we realize that HE Is suffering because of Seperation from us and WE SHOULD IMMEDIATELY GO BACK TO HIM TO RELIEVE HIM OF THE SUFFERING. Isn't it?

what you said makes sence on papaer gayatri ji... but this is like tantemount to asking us or well me to be like a zhare zkrishna zombie. ? explain please. How you can you think your not a doer and not become an impersonalist?

Understand carefully- You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty. ( 2.47 BG)
We are only doing the work without getting attached to the result.
You plant a mango seed you take care of it day and night. You do all that is necessary for the plant to grow and give you mangoes. But results are not in your hands. There may be a big rain and floods and your seed got flooded off. Many factors are not in your control. It is ultimately under Krishna's plan. But you cannot sit silently without doing your labor and you put 100% of your hardwork. But the result is not in you hands. Something might happen whatever you had expected that doesn't go as per you planned.
So, ultimately the doer is only Krishna.
BUT IF YOU THINK YOU ARE THE DOER .. YOU WILL END UP LAMENTING .. OH !!! I DID SO MUCH HARDWORK AND I FAILED. OR IF IT WAS SUCCESSFUL THEN YOU WILL CLAIM OH I AM SO GREAT , I DID A LOT OF HARDWORK FOR THIS MANGO PLANT TO GROW ... LOOK HARDWORK PAID AND I BECAME SUCESSFUL.
Both the cases, You are wrong. Neither faliure is in your hands nor the success is in your hands.
IT IS JUST UR MIND IS BELIEVEING THAT YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS DOING THINGS.
WHEN YOU BELIEVE LIKE THIS AND CONSIDER YOU ARE THE DOER... THEN SURELY YOU WILL BE SUFFERING AS WELL.
IF YOU THINK I BELONG TO LORD AND I AM WORKING FOR THE PLEASURE OF LORD
THEN THERE IS NO CELEBRATION WHEN YOU WIN OR THERE IS NO LAMENTATION WHEN YOU LOSE.

you saying stuff than all indians know about isnt it? akshit was asking about surrender... i think he was speficially asking about the mind.. its impossible to control the mind as arjuna said in the gita..
Unless we quit the doership and accept that Krishna is the doer and I am nothing. That is when true surrender comes.
Not simply by saying.. Mangoes grew this time thank God.
Krishna is giving you strength to grow Mangoes. Krishna is giving water and sunlight. Krishna is making the seasons to come in regular time for it to grow favorably.
You are taking the credit for growing Mangoes just because you sow the seeds and watered it and make the soil loose? The soil belongs to Krishna
Sun, water and Earth all belong to Him. EVEN YOU BELONG TO HIM.
Just that we forgot our relationship.
WHy is it so tough to Surrender?
It is because of Maya. Maya makes us believe that We are the doer.

Also , I may be wrong, but isn't soul also supposed to be doer , along with supersoul, and other things (as per BG)
How can Soul be the doer?
Doer is only Krishna as Krishna only is the cause of all causes.
Krishna provides food for us ( the fruits trees, the vegetables, sunlight, air) so HE is providing energy to do work.
the day you realize that HE is the doer we don't take the doership anymore.
If you are taking the doership then you are the sufferer as well.
