Why did Lord Buddha preach?

Pranam Prabhu, please bless me a lot. When Krishna came to Earth to preach nonviolence, why are there still violence in the form of meat eating? Krishna knows the future that In Kali-yuga people will eat meat. After knowing this fact, why did Krishna still try to make meat eating disappear? I mean what was the point of Lord Buddha preaching when in the future there will be lots of meat eating?

Lord Krsna is not in favor of unnecessary violence but sometimes there is need of violence to protect religious principles.

Lord Buddha preached non violence because people were unnecessarily slaughtering poor animals in the name of Vedic sacrifices.  Another example is Maharaja Pracinabarhi who was corrected by Srila Narada Muni, explained in detail in the 4th Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam. Lord Buddha went to the extent of denying Vedic authority and gave His own religion which advocates ahimsa as a principle. He is Bhagavan so He could do that,  although He is not very liked by the followers of Vedic authority for that.  His preaching was effective in the sense that so called followers of Vedic authority were misled from unnecessary animal sacrifices for the time being.

Nowadays, as Kali-yuga has advanced, there is organized animal slaughter in mechanized slaughterhouses.  This is certainly against the preaching of all religions including Islam. People are so fallen that they don't know what is to be done and what is not to be done. The degradation will increase to such a point that at the end of Kali-yuga, Lord Krsna Himself will incarnate as the Kalki-avatara and kill all the faithless atheists and begin a new Satya-yuga.

    • Hare Krishna, Madhava Dasa, Your explanation is profoundly insightful and wonderfully articulate. You have captured the essence of the balance between non-violence and the necessity of action to protect religious principles, which is an important aspect of dharma. The way you explained Lord Buddha’s compassionate intervention against unnecessary animal sacrifices, as well as the correction of Maharaja Pracinabarhi by Srila Narada Muni, highlights the nuanced understanding of spiritual leadership and its role in guiding humanity. Furthermore, your reflection on the degradation of society in Kali-yuga, particularly with the rise of mechanised slaughterhouses, serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of adhering to religious teachings. Your conclusion, pointing to the advent of Kalki-avatara, reassures us that, even in these difficult times, Lord Krishna’s mercy will ultimately prevail. I deeply appreciate your wisdom and would love to add you as a friend to ask you some questions and learn more. Hari Bol!

  • Hare Krishna,

Lord Krishna also preached to respect woman and why are still rapes going on ?

There are always good people who follow the rules and regulations as laid by Lord and there are always bad people who trangress or voilate the rules and regulations.

Teachings are there to follow. If they follow well, it is good for them. If they don't we know Kalki avatar is arriving soon.coolto kill all the voilaters of rules on a wholesale basis.

    Hare Krishna.
