PAMHO.
There is absolutely no benefit of killing yourself - ekadasi or any other day. We are in this body for a purpose and for a defined duration. We have to find our purpose and stay in this body for the duration that it has been decided for us, there is no option. Ending life is going against the rule of the material world, and it will result in punishment births (as a ghost, without a gross body for enjoyment).
If she in the hospital getting treated, that is the best place for her to be in. Alongwith medical treatment, you should give her emotional healing and spiritual treatment. Tell her about the variosu species of life, gift her a Bhagavad Gita and ask her to read it if you dont have that much time to sit with her and read to her and then both of you can discuss.
Tell her that she may feel her problems are insurmountable, the only solution to all her problems lies in taking refuge of the lotus feet of the lord. Of course she will not understand what you say. You will have to tell her to chant the mahamantra on beads and read Gita. Tell her that there are spiritual solutions for all material problems. Tell her about the 4 yugas, the duration of each yuga and then try to explain that whne in the context of time, we are so insignificant - then how can our problems be so big?
Slowly try to get her towards spirituality by giving her as much association as is possible for you. Give her some mahaprasad - that is also good.
I am happy to note that you care for her and are trying to help her. Krsna will be pleased with your efforts.
Let us all pray for the both of you - that you both get the special mercy of Radharani and progress very fast.

Besides wonderful comments, I just wanted to submit one more comment for your kind information please.
We all are suffering in material world like a prisoner in a prison as per our past karmas. Even in this material world, if any prisoner wanted to escape, what will be the outcome?. He/She will be caught & given more severe punishment. However If we pass this imprisoned life with Chanting Hare Krsna Mahamantra, associating with Devotees, having Prasadam & studying Srimad Bhagavatam & Srimad Geeta, we will surely be rewarded & Sri Krsna may forgive our past misdeed and may release from this material world.

Please also convey her that if she has ever felt love for KRISHNA with tears in her eyes she has had experienced GOLOKA in this v life no matter even if it was momentary for a second .It hardly matters Ekadashi or any other tithi but she made her purpose done and FIRST CLASS FIRST MERIT OF LIFE if managed to arouse that love for KAHNA.

Death and birth is not in anyone's hand please convey her ,if Krishna wants to keep her she will live 100 more years so ask her to chant Hari naam and this is the only remedy ,but if luckily Krishna takes her back in KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS state then whether its Ekadashi or Amavasya she will WIN ,i mean BACK TO KRISHNA,so please ask her to stop immediately these thoughts and just remember Krishna on her hospital bed ,i have personally experienced such situation during a medical emergency in my life,i was made unconscious by doctors but i still kept saying RADHEY RADHEY and when i came back i was in a state of my mind saying Radhey Radhey and told my attendant all that happened to me that time.I managed to remember everything and what all people around me talking.
Above all please take good care of her and keep her KRISHNA CONSCIOUS .

I am now under a kind of mental stress after reading your question. Chirag Prabhu nicely mentioned that we all needed to pray for your friend. From my small fund of knowledge I would simply like to mention that suicide will not bring any good to herself rather more sufferings may cause because of her such bad Karma.
Probably she needs to realize how much Krishna loves her and how lucky she is among 8.4 million species because she has blessed with a human body. Please also let her know that we who are viewing this posting are also loving and praying for her.
May Krishna bless her and reveal the truth in her heart. Hare Krishna!

Thanks to all of you wonderful devotees for all of your love, prayers and support. She was last seen at the emergency room admission desk at our local hospital. Hopefully, they helped her out. I had never heard of anyone ever saying that Ekadashi was a good day to do it. I am thinking now that it must have been her disturbed mind talking and not anything she ever learned in class. Please keep praying for this devotee as she has had mental health problems for a long time. Yes, I will let her know that others are also loving her and praying for her here too.
