Divorce in ISKCON is nearly as bad statistically (some even say worse) than out in the karmi world. I say this is because the men are discharging semen to enjoy and then their suffering must increase. I hope I'm wrong but informal surveys prove this to be the case.
    • Sarvopama, You tell me how i could have stayed married for a long time and hve terrible marital problems?
It's not a matter of karmi; one can not keep a relationship together if the other person holds u back and chokes u to the point where u hve no life. I cannot go into full details of my 25yr+marriage. Tht's personal.
but lets just say to hve someone not be there for u in times of need.

Lalita Sakhi, I see I owe you an apology. Only now months later I'm stumbling across your questions and trying to answer them. Please forgive me. I lay nearly all divorce problems at the feet of the men if they aren't managing their ojas shakti properly.
    • Hare krishna,
      pamho:agtsp;
i understand it is because of different nature of persons, their destiny .till we don't surrender fully life will be miserable only.somtimes* it is arrangement of krishna to reduce to remove attachment to this world.
but wonderfull thing is so many heartbrocken souls found peace in ISKCON.
  • According to varnashram dharma, 25 years of marriage is sufficient. After this period the couple should increase their devotion to Krishna. The attachment to Krishna increases so much that the couple has less attraction for each other and do not find a need to stay together and continue family attachment.
Lot of people find it difficult to get in to this stage after being married for 25 years as the family attachment is very strong. Also, sometimes there are practical difficulties due to which one has to continue in family life.
You are lucky. You have received Krishna's grace. Your marriage partner has left you. Materially a sad situation. However, devotionally it is a fertile ground. One has to understand that the only permanent partner is Krishna.
Sometimes, we see that our karmas, snatch away a life partner in the form of death. So there is no guarantee in this material world. There is only one eternal partner - That is Krishna. So we should understand this. We should accept this materially unfortunate circumstances as mercy and use it positively in our life. This way we can easily transcend the material miseries. Hope this answer is acceptable to you. May Krishna bless you with right association and help you transcend this material world of repeated births, marriages & divorces.
    • Even though i am new to krnsa i do feel as though i hve been re-born.. i praise krnsa every day and nite and chant his holy name in mantra.. in a way my divorce was a blessing.if only 1 partner takes to krnsa and the other one does not, it makes a bad mix. And u cannot force anyone into something they refuse to belive or be apart of.. I hve my bff Mary who's been like a lifetime partner for 7yrs.And she's very open to all of this. For both of us krnsa has been a true blessing. We both have health issues and chant to krishna.
If it's meant to be this way then it is. I cannot undo my divorce nor do i wish to.I am free now and can now devote my life to krnsa...
      • Hare Krsna!

I don't really understand what I was told, and don't remember some of it even, but there is something to the effect that all of you, including your ex, must have done some good things in the past, and have been given mercy, to be at the temple. To be there -- no matter what appears to be your level of acceptance.

Just that you were there, at all. There are no accidental occurances that should not have happened.

I think it's wonderful you all were at the temple and participated in the program there.

My husband too came to the temple with me once at the time of arati, he was very respectful. But he was not religious man. He took some prasadam. Later he came to preach to inmates at a prison and tell them about the deities and the temple here. He shared about the Lord with many other people.

This is such nice news to hear of your time at the temple.

        • bhaktincarol,
Seems to me that your situation is different from mine. I don't know if u really read my full reply.??
I said tht yes my ex did stay at the iskcon temple for a very short time. His beliefs are different,he himself said tht he does not belive in praying to idols(ie);Dieties, or other so called non-religious practices.Sitting on a chair with arms& legs crossed in a negitive way is a bad thing.Even whe we use to visit the hindu temple in Calbasas,ca called the Malibu hindu temple, he'd hve such an attitude.
Although tht temple's not as active as the iskcon in los angeles.. It's always been tht way with my ex.
He does not want to look into other avenues of religion only in how he was raised a christian.
    • It's easier said than done when a marriage lasts as long as 25+yrs and raised 3 children.
I myself and the only one who choose Krishna...Example: Last sunday i went for my first Sunday Feast
with my ex,daughter& my best friend.. you have to understand my ex is a sceptic when it comes to other
religions{always has been}.He wishes to stick to his christian values tht he was brought up with.I on the
other hand have always respected others and their religions. As we sat in the iskcon temple in los angeles,ca
all my ex did was sit there with a very negitive attitude with his arms& legs crossed in disscust.. finally he just got up and went outside while myself, daughter and friend were getting into all the chanting&dancing of the feast. When we stopped at the gift shop there was a hint of negitve in his body language just becasue i wanted to get some tulasi beads, and a charm tht holds the holy dust from krnsa's birthplace and maybe a few other things tht i picked up. a few krnsa postcards and stickers. Then a fight broke out in the giftshop btwn my ex and my daughter. It's embarresing to see tht more so when the iskcon temple is next door.
We waited through out the entire ceremony just myself and friend. My daughter to then left.after the priest gave the lecture and told some stories they began the swing ceremony; we waited for the long line of ppl to go through,, during the ceremony 2 gentlemen came around with candles to bless ourselves.when we walked out of the temple as we waited for the line to get a bit shorter,, all my ex could do is tell us hurry up lets go even before we could go get the food.. both myselt&friend finally walked back into the temple and got a chance to get into the swing ceremony.. I will say one thing for the krishna community they are very nice, helpful and will explain and let u know tht it's ok to be apart of the ceremonies even though ur new.My friend went first and i guess the gentleman was a helper told her to place her hands out to take the water to wash her hands and gave her rose pedals then my turn, she went over to where another gentleman was swinging the dieties and she placed the pedals on the swing but forgot to take the rope,so the gentleman told her to just hold the rope and swing the dieties a few times while he held onto the rope.. It's diffuclt to pull a marriage through these days.Being married for over 25yrs+ ... i don't regret my divorce.I'm 52yrs old and have an incurable diease,, I hve cked' many venues of spirituality one of which was Metaphysics.
Now krishna,, if it were not for a good friend of mine to tell me about the krishna movement and give me a copy of back to godhead and told me about the iskcon temple it would never have been.
